In Today’s Gospel…
In today’s Gospel we find Jesus’
response to Judas’s question asking
how the world is going to know
Christ’s revelation if Jesus has only
revealed Himself to His disciples. We
can relate with Judas’ preoccupation
and despair at realizing that too few
people know and live by Christ’s message of love. The Boston bombings
and current world news of poverty,
violence, racism, and
economic inequalities
heightens our awareness that evil and dehumanizing situations
continue to be a reality
that not only impacts
third world countries,
but our own cities as
well. We too, like Judas, question how and
when God’s Kingdom will come. In
today’s Gospel, Jesus states “whoever
loves me will keep my word, and the
Father will love him…” One may ask:
“how do I love God whom I don’t
see?” As Mother Teresa once stated,
“at the end of life we will not be
judged by how many diplomas we
have received, how much money we
have made, how many great things we
have done. We will be judged by ‘I
was hungry, and you gave me some-
Parish Staff
thing to eat, I was naked and you clothed
me. I was homeless,
Sr. Karla
and you took me in.’ Hungry not only for bread - but hungry for
love. Naked not only for clothing - but
naked of human dignity and respect.
Homeless not only for want of a home
of bricks - but homeless because of
rejection.” Our Catholic social tradition invites us to love
God by abiding in His
word that commands
us to uphold the life
and dignity of human
persons when it is
threatened, to love the
poor and the vulnerable by fighting to
change their conditions of misery, to
strive to not become indifferent to our
social responsibilities in our local and
international spheres, and by being
stewards of God’s creation. In loving
in this way, our words and actions will
reveal God’s love. And, as a result,
express God’s Kingdom here on earth.

Liturgy 101: Month of Mary
...is dedicated to Our Blessed Lady, the Queen
of Heaven. During this month, Catholics in every
part of the world "both in Church and in the privacy of the home, offer up to Mary from their
hearts an especially fervent and loving homage of
prayer and veneration. In this month, too, the
gifts of God's mercy come down to us from her
throne in greater abundnance."

Jesus didn’t come to bring death, but rather,
the death of hatred, the death of fighting, the
death of calumny, that is, killing with the
tongue. Jesus did not come to bring death, the
death that He suffered for defending life. Jesus
came to bring life and to bring abundant life,
and he sends us out, carrying that life, but he
tells us: “Care for it!” because there are people
who … aren’t involved in the Gospel: [who are
part of] the culture of death … life interests
them insofar as it is useful, in so far as it has
some kind of utility and if not, it doesn’t interest them. And throughout the world, this weed
has been planted, of the culture of death.

Monday, May 6th at 7 p.m.
Holy Spirit Parish, Fremont, Small Hall
Refreshments to be served.
All are welcome. Free Admission.
You may have heard of Natural Family Planning, but do you
really know the truth about it?
NFP is NOT your grandmother’s ‘rhythm method’.
NFP is NOT complicated.
NFP IS as effective as artificial contraception, if not more so.
NFP can be used by anyone.
NFP is without health risks or unwanted side effects.
NFP is easy to learn.
NFP is scientifically proven.
NFP is helpful in cases of infertility.
NFP is holistic health care.
8
What exactly is NFP?
Who can use NFP?
Why should I use NFP?
Many couples and women have
used contraception and lived with
side effects and moral concerns.
Many are looking for a better way
-one that is healthier and naturalphysically, emotionally, relationally and spiritually.
There is a better way.
