All aboard!
Here we go! In this issue we’ll show you what some of the Kid’s Clubs are doing and
some of our members we’ve spotted at Train Meets. We’ve got a HELP WANTED out for our Teen Kid’s
Club members. Puzzles, Jokes, Coloring Fun and WOW! Bella has a new friend too. Also, in this issue
are two recipes for cool Springtime dips that are easy to make and more fun to eat!! Let’s begin!!

Teen Kid’s Club Help Needed!
We know your out there and we know
your busy, just probably not busy doing
toy trains right now. Some of you are
studying hard, playing sports, maybe
even working a part time job now that
you are older. We would like to hear
from you and maybe even use your help.
The National Kid’s Club is working on
our website and we would like to make
it special for all of our Kid’s Club members. Just like school is broken into
three age groups we would like to see
the Kid’s Club activities done the same
way. Teen age helpers can tell us about
the software games that are out there.
Have you tried the latest version of
Microsoft Train Simulator? Send us a
review so we can spread the word.
Maybe you’ve helped your Dad or
Grandpa work on his Lionel or MTH
remote control trains, or maybe you
have one yourself let us know! Have you
been to our website? Can you think how
we can do it better, or make it look
special? Contact us! One of our present
webmasters was a Kid’s Club member
himself and at 19 is just beginning to
help by giving us ideas and designing new
pages for a new improved site we have
planned for later this year. We would like
to hear your ideas as well. Send us an
email with your ideas, your pictures of
what you have been doing, or how we can
make the website better. The more ideas
and comments we hear from teens the
better we can make it for everyone!

YOU CAN MAKE ROCKY SCENRY FOR YOUR LAYOUT TOO
Making rocks and outcrops is easy, all that you will need are: plaster-of-paris, water,
heavy duty aluminum foil and rocklike paints. Double layer 2 sheets of aluminum foil measuring approximately 14”X 14” or as big as you need your rock to be. With this aluminum
foil you will make a mold for the plaster-of-paris that will be craggy and will look like a
rock. Thinking of how a rocky crag would look, crumple up the

paris according to the direction, mix up a small batch of plaster-ofparis and pour it into your mold. Hold it or prop it upright so

TWO EASY & TASTY SPRINGTIME DIPS
Creamy Salsa and Veggies
Caramel Peanut Butter Dip
1 cup mild salsa (your favorite brand)
24 wrapped caramel candies
1/2 cup sour cream
2 tablespoons creamy peanut butter
Mix salsa and sour cream together well and
serve with any vegetable you like to munch
on. Have Mom or Dad buy packaged veggies
like carrots, celery, broccoli, or snap peas on
the produce aisle at your grocery store to
save time.
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
SECRET!
My Mom also makes a special
salsa ranch dressing by adding 1 cup of mild
salsa to a bottle of Ranch Dressing. It’s the
best for our summer salads!

2 Apples - we like Granny Smith but use your favorite!
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 cup water
Get Mom or Dad’s help! They won’t mind if you let them share your dip. Cut and core the
two apples into eight slices each. Mix the lemon juice with the water and place two slices
of the apples into the water at a time. Soak them for about 15 seconds and then drain
them in a strainer. (This secret will keep your sliced apples from turning brown before you
eat them!) Next, unwrap the candies and put them in a microwave bowl on HIGH for 2 minutes. Mix 1 tablespoon of water to the peanut butter and stir into the candies with a rubber spatula, be careful it’s HOT! (If all the caramel candies have not melted smooth, heat
them for about another 30 seconds) stir in your cinnamon and start dipping and eating!
MEET ZEPHYR
Zephyr is Bella’s new little sister who
also loves trains. In fact, Zephyr loves
to play on the train layout too. She
likes to push the little people off the
layout and is quite excited by the “Iron
Mouse” (trains) that seem to scurry
around the track. Zephyr and Bella love
to play hide and seek with the “Iron
Mouse.” Zephyr is named after a very
famous train too.
