From The Pastor’s Desk
On this Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary time, we hear this beautiful Gospel where Bartimaeus,
a blind man, the son of Timaeus, was begging by the roadside. What a wonderful anticipation
upon hearing that Jesus, himself was approaching. He exclaimed with a cry, "Jesus, son of
David, have pity on me." MARK 10:47
When Jesus heard that the man was calling out, He called to him to come closer. The people
called the blind man, saying to him, "Take courage; get up, Jesus is calling you." Mark 10:49
The Blind man asked Jesus, “Master I want to see.” MARK 10:51 Jesus’ reply, "Go your way;
your faith has saved you." MARK 10:52
Did you ever say to yourself, or maybe even out loud, “Lord I want (something)”, “I need,
I’m afraid.” It’s basically the call of Bartimaeus, “I want to see.” We could believe that Jesus’
reply would be: “YES, of course I love you. You are sons and daughters of faith! Your faith has
saved you! Now go your way and help to build up the Kingdom of God!”
Saint Agnes Medal Awards
I am so happy to announce that this year’s recipients of the St. Agnes medal are Jim and
Theresa Drew! They received this Award at the Ceremony presided over by Bishop Murphy this
Sunday, October 25 at St. Agnes Cathedral! How Blest we are as the Family of Saint Rosalie’s
to be the recipients of so many years of service to our parish and to all by Theresa and Jim
Drew. Jim and Theresa represent our Parish Family with their beautiful parish family. They have
raised 13 wonderful children in our parish community. Jim is currently the chairman of our
parish Finance Committee and has been our Respect Life coordinator of our parish and the
Deanery covering the East End for a number of years! Theresa who is a nurse by profession,
and who was active with the Dominican Sisters Family Health Services, has been an active
member of the Altar Rosary Society and the Catholic Daughters of America. Any time we have
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Jim and Theresa are part of the planning and guardians
of the Eucharist. Jim and Theresa are always available for the smallest or largest job to make
our parish work. As you know, the St. Agnes medal is the highest award given to members of
the Diocese of Rockville Centre. It exemplifies their love of the Church through devotion to the
Holy Father, to our Diocese and our parish! Their efforts include extraordinary service in St.
Rosalie’s parish! Please congratulate Jim and Theresa when you see them.

Attention College Age Students,
Parents and Grandparents
Our Teens are becoming Young Adults—starting college with a lifetime of opportunities in
front of them. There will be many choices that they will make during the next 4 years, let’s help
them to stay connected to their faith while they are making those choices!
Let’s help our young people keep a faith connection while they are in college. Many will
be away from home and out on their own, what better way to help them stay grounded and
give them a safe place to meet new friends than through their University’s Newman Center.
Newman Centers are Catholic ministry centers at non-Catholic universities throughout the
country. These Centers provide pastoral services and ministries to their Catholic student
population. Through the Newman Connection, students are connected to their Campus Minister
and invited to join Catholic Campus Ministry—this becomes their faith community away from
home!
It’s simple to make that connection—the only information that is required is the student’s
first and last name and the name of the college or university they will be attending in
September. Send this information to

hoy y nos dice: La alegría el cristiano la experimenta en la
misión: «Vayan a las gentes de todas las naciones» (Mt 28,19).
La alegría el cristiano la encuentra en una invitación: Vayan y
anuncien. La alegría el cristiano la renueva, la actualiza con
una llamada: Vayan y unjan.
Jesús los envía a todas las naciones. A todas las gentes. Y en
ese «todos» de hace dos mil años estábamos también nosotros.
Jesús no da una lista selectiva de quién sí y quién no, de
quiénes son dignos o no de recibir su mensaje y su presencia.
Por el contrario, abrazó siempre la vida tal cual se le
presentaba. Con rostro de dolor, hambre, enfermedad, pecado.
Con rostro de heridas, de sed, de cansancio. Con rostro de
dudas y de piedad. Lejos de esperar una vida maquillada,
decorada, trucada, la abrazó como venía a su encuentro.
Aunque fuera una vida que muchas veces se presenta
derrotada, sucia, destruida. A «todos» dijo Jesús, a todos,
vayan y anuncien; a toda esa vida como es y no como nos
gustaría que fuese, vayan y abracen en mi nombre. Vayan al
cruce de los caminos, vayan… a anunciar sin miedo, sin
prejuicios, sin superioridad, sin purismos a todo aquel que ha
perdido la alegría de vivir, vayan a anunciar el abrazo
misericordioso del Padre. Vayan a aquellos que viven con el
peso del dolor, del fracaso, del sentir una vida truncada y
anuncien la locura de un Padre que busca ungirlos con el óleo
de la esperanza, de la salvación. Vayan a anunciar que el error,
las ilusiones engañosas, las equivocaciones, no tienen la última
palabra en la vida de una persona. Vayan con el óleo que calma

Preparación Pre Matrimonial – Para casarse por la iglesia,

Curso Pre-Bautismal
El curso se da el último domingo de cada mes a la 1:30 PM en
el Apostolado Hispano en Southampton o a las 5:00 PM en la
iglesia en East Hampton. El próximo curso será el domingo, 25
de octubre. Favor de llevar la copia del acta de nacimiento del
niño. Los bautizos en Hampton Bays serán el 14 de noviembre,
el 5 de diciembre, el 9 de enero y el 13 de febrero.

Curso: Para bautizar a su hijo, es necesario que los padres y
padrinos asistan al curso pre-bautismal.
Padrinos: Debe escoger a los padrinos conscientes de los

Health Service
DSFHS is in need of volunteers for
their Hampton Bays Thrift Shop. They
are looking for volunteers to work
morning shifts from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
and afternoon shifts from 1 to 4 p.m.
They especially need volunteers on
the weekends.
Donations are also accepted during store business hours, Monday
through Friday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
