Creating a travel plan to visit Australia

Objectives
MATERIALS
 Students will calculate the distance between cities and the cost it takes to travel.
 Students will fill out traveling documentation.





 SS.7.3.12
Procedure
 Have students choose an Australian city on a map and measure the distance between the city in which
you are in and the Australian city of their choice. Calculate the distance in both miles and inches.
 Next, have students determine the price of their trip.
 Have students fill out the passenger information form, passport application form, and the passport.
 Finally, have students label the continents and oceans on the map provided, put a star on the
Australian city they chose, put an x on their hometown, add directions to the compass rose, and
label the equator.
Recommended assessment
 Ensure that students completed the forms and performed the correct calculations in the distance and
cost sections.
Extensions
 Use a Venn diagram to compare and contrast the United States and Australia.
