On May 6th the Annual Golf
Outing will be under way. The
Chamber has been busy getting
things ready for the day and
recruiting teams and sponsors.

out and return the brochure to
claim your spot! Trine University is the outing lunch
sponsor and Wetzel Insurance Company is once again
sponsoring the #18 hole in
One Prize Package which is a
$5,000 prize. POET Biorefining has generously given to the
outing by sponsoring golf carts.
Shepherd’s Chevrolet Inc.
has signed on to sponsor the
beverage cart for a second
year. There are prizes to be
won, for being the 1st and 2nd
place teams as well as having
the longest drive, longest putt
or being the closest to the pin.

12:30 pm with lunch being

Joe Accetta of Kalenborn Abresist Retires
In 1990 Joe Accetta was
promoted to President of
Kalenborn Abresist. As
President, Accetta has
continued his work for
Kalenborn, selling the
product and making sure
the company runs
smoothly. He began his
career with Kalenborn in
1983 after working for
their partner firm M.H.
Detrick. Beginning as a
sales engineer out of a
suburban sales office for
the suspended refractory
linings developed by
M.H. Detrick and
Abresist products for 4
years.
The company then sent
him to the headquarters in Chicago to specialize in the Abresist
products and he eventually became the
product manager.
When the Chicago
based company M.H.
Detrick withdrew from
the joint venture with
Kalenborn, Accetta
was offered a job as
Sales Manager for the
company. He has seen
the most change
within the last 33 years
including 2 physical
expansions of manufacturing space and the
acquisitions of 2 subsidiaries, a sales and
service company in
Canada and a steel
fabrication facility near
Chattanooga, Tennessee. While the company has gone global
over the course of his
time at Kalenborn
Accetta’s plans after
retirement are to unplug the alarm clock
and advise the company on selected projects.

Honors Student Luncheon
On Thursday, April 21st the Wabash County Chamber of Commerce and the North Manchester
Chamber will be hosting an Honor Student Luncheon at the Honeywell Center. This luncheon is
meant to honor current high
school seniors who have done
exceptionally well throughout
their high school career. These
students are chosen from North
Manchester, Northfield, Southwood, Wabash City, Emmanuel
Christian, and Whites high
schools. For the past 15 years
this luncheon has provided current businesses a chance to talk
with potential employees and for
the students to talk to potential
future employers. It is a stepping
stone to help cultivate the ‘brain
gain’ in Indiana. Manchester Uni-
versity will be the Educational
Sponsor and Whitney Caudill,
Vice President for Strategic Initiatives and External Relations will
be the emcee. Businesses need
employees and what better way
to get a number of them than to
talk with current students about
their future? Returning back to
their towns after getting a higher
education may not seem like the
most favored option to students,
but through this event students
get an opportunity to find future
employment contacts and possibly convince themselves that
returning would be a really good
idea. Mr. Dan Krouse will be
giving his insight into the reasons
for returning specifically using his
own story to prove that returning back to your roots can be

one of the best investments a person makes. Krouse is a native of
Wabash County and is a local businessman who wants to keep using
his talents to better the community. He is the General Manager at
Midwest Poultry which prides itself
in being the 10th largest egg producer in the country. Krouse graduated from Manchester High
School and received his MBA from
Kelley School of Business. After
completing his education, Krouse
returned to North Manchester to
work at Midwest Poultry which his
family has run for over 130 years.
Hundreds to Participate in American Cancer Society Relay For Life of North Manchester
on April 30th, 2016 at Market Square Downtown North Manchester
Hundreds of cancer survivors,
caregivers, volunteers, and
teams of walkers from
schools, companies, places of
worship, and more will come
together for the American
Cancer Society Relay For Life
of North Manchester. This is
open to the public and a wonderful time to give back while
fighting cancer. The Relay For
Life of North Manchester is
trying to raise a total of
$42,000 and help to reach this
goal is needed!
The event takes place on April
30th from 10am until 10 pm.
The Opening ceremony will
begin promptly at 10 am and a
celebratory cancer survivors
lap reception will happen at 12 pm.
A silent auction will take place from
11 am until 6 pm.
A touching Luminaria Ceremony will
begin at 8:00 pm in honor of locals
who have battled cancer.
The Relay For Life movement unites
communities across the globe to
celebrate people who have battled
cancer, remember loved ones lost,
and take action to finish the fight
once and for all. Relay For Life
events are community events where
teams and individuals camp out at a
school, park, or fairground and take
turns walking or running around a
track or path. Each team has at least
one participant on the track at all
times and raises funds for the Amer-
ican Cancer Society in the months leading up to
the event.
They Need: Silent Auction items, people to come
out during the day to walk the track, take part in
some yummy food and activities and

Manchester Symphony Orchestra takes ‘Spring
Jubilee’ concert to Honeywell Center
The Manchester Symphony Orchestra closes its 2015-16 season with “Spring Jubilee” at the Honeywell Center in Wabash.
It is 3 p.m. Sunday, April 24. Tickets for the general public are $10; admission is free for MU students, faculty and staff with ID,
and guests 18 years and younger.
Guest artists are the Mossburg Strings, and the season finale presents the orchestral premiere of Diane Whitacre's Casey at the
Bat. It was originally a work by the northeast Indiana composer for flute, piano and a narrator, and it has been transcribed for a
symphony orchestra.
The “Spring Jubilee” will also feature student concerto winners from Manchester University. A Patron Appreciation Reception
following the concert is sponsored by Peabody Retirement Community and the Parkview Wabash Hospital.
Founded in 1939, the orchestra is a collaboration of professional and community musicians, along with selected MU faculty, staff
and student musicians. Scott Humphries, an assistant professor at Manchester University, conducts the symphony orchestra.
Humphries also conducts the MU Symphonic Band and is principal conductor of the Fort Wayne Area Community Band.

New Member Anytime Catering!
In 2008, a Manchester
High School student
embarked on a journey
to explore his love for
cooking and potentially
owning his own business. Recently, that
journey has reached a
milestone. Anytime
Catering, Inc. has recently opened a commercial kitchen in the
old Mendenhall Electric
Building and is now
accepting orders and
reservations for events.
Chef Ean Howard, along
with his parents,
Charles & Samantha
Howard, started the
business which focuses on serving small
groups, serving from
5 to 50. Ean concentrates on the cooking,
Samantha handles the
bookkeeping duties,
Charles provides all
around assistance
and Ean’s aunt, Sharon Doan, handles
the marketing. The
business has been an
8 year project for Ean
starting while in high
school.
He attended the commercial foods classes at
Heartland Career Center and then continued
on, earning an Associate Degree from Ivy
Tech’s Culinary Arts
program. Over the last
few years, Ean and his
fiancée have been regular vendors at the
North Manchester
Farmers’ Market with
assorted baked goods.
Now that he has the
commercial kitchen
available, he can offer a
bigger variety of baked
Goods at the Farmer’s
market. However, you
don’t have to wait for the
market if you want some
of his cookies or pies. In
addition to baked goods,
Anytime Catering, Inc. has
a menu prepared that you
can choose various items
from. And Ean is capable
of customizing the menu
to your desires for your

“Bison”tennial
200 years of history means
200 years of ever changing
landscapes and residents.
The “Bison”tennial is an ongoing project which enables
businesses to promote themselves while also promoting
Indiana. North Manchester
was one of the first towns to
take on the project beginning
in February and that led to
others around Indiana to do
the same. There are a total
of 18 bison being painted
which will be displayed in
front of the businesses that
are sponsoring them. The
artists painting the bison are
students from the North
Manchester Junior High and
High School. They are working diligently to create masterpieces for the community
to view and those who sponsored the bison. The bison
are expected to be done
around Memorial Day of this
year. Once the bison are
finished they will be loaded
and taken to the individual
businesses and the finished
designs will be unveiled.

Breakfast on May 17th at 7:30
a.m. Superintendent of
Schools, Dr. Bill Reichhart,
will speak about the past and
present accomplishments of
MCS in our community such
as Manchester Elementary
School receiving the Four
Star Award from the DOE,
MJSHS recently recognized
by the IHSAA as one of only
nineteen high schools in Indiana for its sportsmanship at
athletic events, the 2016
Science Olympiad teams and
winners that competed at
State, and how MCS is using
technology to enhance instruction in the classroom.
There will also be time at the
end of Dr. Reichhart’s
presentation to ask him
questions that you always
wanted to ask about our
award winning school district. Not only will you be
able to hear from Dr. Reichhart, but some members of
his administrative team and
MCS students will also join
him as well. This thirtyminute presentation promises to be informative as well
as entertaining!

Meet Our Spring Intern: Caitlin O’Quinn
Caitlin is a Sophomore at Manchester University studying Political
Science and Religion. Caitlin received this internship after connecting with the Chamber’s Executive Director, Laura Rager at a
career fair hosted by Manchester
University’s Office of Career and
Professional Development, formally
known as the Office of Career
Services. This career fair connects
students with local businesses to
help students better prepare for
their future. For more information

internship began in January and will
wrap up in May. She hopes that her
internship at the Chamber will help
her gain more experience in office
work and networking with individuals from the community.
Caitlin has been helping get everything ready for our annual golf outing and is excited for the event!
She hopes to use her degree after
graduation to attend law school.
Caitlin is interested in working for
the United Nations or the United
States Foreign Service as a delegate.
Her college life consists of being a
member of Circle K which is the
collegiate level of Kiwanis. The
North Manchester Kiwanis work
closely with the club on service
projects. She is also a Resident
Assistant which enables her to learn leadership skills on a daily basis.
