your own destiny.
My understanding is there's no
absolute proof that we're causing

I think it's a safe bet that we

There's a move away from the

So, did you have fun?
A Day at Sea…quarium
Describing the Seaquarium Experience
an inlingua group fieldtrip
We asked the field trip participants, group 703,
Our
about
their
experience at
the Miami
Seaquarium. This is was what they had to say:
“I had a beautiful experience… It was my first time
there, and I enjoyed it a lot. I would like to go there
once again. It was really amazing.”—Kristina Georgiu
“It was an incredible experience. I loved it, and it’s
likely I’ll go back... I was with nice people and I think
everybody enjoyed it a lot, like me. To be so close to
the animals was exciting.”—Mayara Bueno
day started at the Brickell center as we got
ready to leave to the Seaquarium. Two of the
students had never been to the park and had never
seen these marine mammals up close. It promised
to be an exciting day, and it turned out to be a
wonderful field trip. The happy faces were a joy to
behold.
Thank you to all the students who
participated. You behaved extremely well. We’d
also like to thank the inlingua Brickell
administration for approving the field trip. A day to
remember, indeed!
“Wow! I love animals, so, for me, it was an amazing
experience!! ”—Fabiana Lamberti
“It was exciting to go there. I love dolphins, so when I
saw how intelligent they were, it was amazing for me.
We went to two shows and we got wet from the
dolphin show, but the feeling was awesome.”
—Dania Issa
As a teacher, I couldn’t be happier! Listening
to my students practice what they’ve learned in
class was very fulfilling. Conversations were
taking place between shows, during lunch, and in
the car. Good job, students!
Weather @ Seaquarium
Wasn’t it supposed to rain?
When group 703 left inlingua, it was raining. Dania
even ran home to get two umbrellas. But, once in the
park, it wasn’t raining anymore. It was overcast and
very hot, but no showers.
The ladies described the weather as…

Killer Whale and Dolphin
Show
Voted best show of the day
With the air-conditioned lunchroom
in a close second,
the Killer Whale and Dolphin Show was voted as the
best show of the visit. We were all mesmerized by the
beautiful marine mammals and their relationship with the
trainers.
“The killer whale is huge… and he just wanted a
kiss from his trainer,” said Dania, one of the students
who viewed the show. “I haven’t seen a big fish like this
before,” said Kristina, a little confused about the species,
but extremely amazed by their performance.
Mayara and Fabiana said they liked all the shows,
but Fabiana mentioned the killer whale show was the
one she liked the most. “I liked everything: Flipper, the
dolphin show, the sea lion show, but the killer whale
show was the best.” Mayara really enjoyed the Top
Deck Dolphin Show. “I think I would choose the first
show with the dolphins. The children [there] were
looking at me all the time because I was very excited.”
There you have it, folks. Lolita is –using a wellknown slang phrase– “the bomb”. Congratulations to the
trainers, Lolita, and the dolphins for a great show.
Weather @ Seaquarium
Best and…Worst?
Wasn’t it supposed to rain? (Cont.)
What was the best (and the worst) part of
the field trip?
“…hot and humid…”
“…Wow! Hot… a lot of humidity. We were sweaty
all the time.”
“…the weather was horribly hot. The sun was
strong…”
“It was very hot. In the morning I thought it would
be raining, but it didn’t [rain]. The weather was
appropriate for the day.”
The forecast was 88°F, but the “Real
Feel” temperature, according to us, was…100
degrees! Even though it was very hot and
humid, the day went by swimmingly—pun
intended— and no rain in sight. An old
children’s song came to mind: “Rain, rain. Go
away. Come again another day.” We hope it
‘stays away’ for our next fieldtrip, too.
We
asked the students what they liked the most
(and least) about Monday’s visit to the park. Here’s
what the students responded.
“For me, nothing was ‘the worst part’.
I loved
everything… The best part was the killer whale and
lunchtime because I felt responsible for myself.” – Dania
“The worst part of the field trip was the weather. The day
was too hot and humid. The sun was shining strong. The
best part was our lunch. We went to the restaurant. I was
sweaty and I enjoyed the A.C.” – Kristina
“The best parts were sharing with my classmates and
teacher, watching the animals and enjoying the shows.
The worst? Maybe the weather. It was very hot, but, not
at all; we didn’t have the ‘worst time’!” –Fabiana
“The best parts… were the shows and when we were
having lunch. It was fun. The field trip didn’t have a ‘worst
part’. Everything was perfect.” -- Mayara
The winner of the what-did-you-like-most-aboutthe-fieldtrip poll is… LUNCH! The students enjoyed
the shows, the sea lion exhibit, and touching the
stingrays, but nothing beats an air-conditioned room
in 90°F weather. Luckily for Lolita, the Killer Whale,
her saltwater pool is kept at a comfortable 55°F
temperature. Way to go, Lolita!
“Every show has
something
special, and I
was amazed by
all of them.”
—Kristina
See you at the mall!
