TungstenAIR Frequently Asked Questions
F REQUENTLY A SKED Q UESTIONS
1. WHAT IS TRITON TUNGSTENAIRTM?
Triton TungstenAIR is an exclusive, innovative, patented metal that is as strong, hypoallergenic, durable and scratch
resistant as Tungsten Carbide but 1/3rd lighter in weight. (Patent No. US 8,061,033; additional Patent Pending)
2. WHAT IS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF TRITON TUNGSTENAIRTM?
TungstenAIR is a performance metal, with a high strength-to-weight ratio at 1/3 the weight of Triton Tungsten Carbide
TC.850. Its lightweight, durability and scratch resistance is perfect for an active lifestyle.
3. WHAT METAL IS THE MOST SCRATCH RESISTANT?
Tungsten Carbide and TungstenAIR are the most scratch resistant metal in the jewelry and bridal industries. Both
metals are so strong, they are patented (Patent No. US 8,061,033). The material combinations of both Tungsten
Carbide and TungstenAIR have strong resilient surfaces that will maintain their finish over time with normal use. All
colors of Tungsten Carbide (black, white, classic gray, yellow & rose) and TungstenAIR (black, white) are
scratch resistant.
4. ARE COBALT, STAINLESS STEEL AND TITANIUM AS SCRATCH RESISTANT AS TRITON TUNGSTENAIRTM?
Other contemporary metals are an important part of the jewelry and wedding band industry; however, Cobalt, Titanium
and Stainless Steel wedding bands do not have the scratch resistance of TungstenAIR.
5. WHAT IS TRITON TUNGSTENAIR’S VICKER HARDNESS?
At 1300 Vickers, or over 8.5 on the Mohs hardness scale, Triton’s TungstenAIR is one of the hardest materials available
in jewelry and wedding bands behind a diamond. In comparison, TungstenAIR is 10 times harder than 18K gold but is
1/3 lighter than Tungsten Carbide.
6. WHAT IS TRITON TUNGSTENAIR’S NATURAL COLOR?
TungstenAIR’s natural metal color is a deep gray. TungstenAIR is available in black and white, and designs are also
combined with other materials such as Carbon Fiber and accented with chroma-lacquer pops of color.
7. HOW DO THE WHITE TRITON TUNGSTENAIRTM RINGS GET THEIR COLOR?
Triton’s white TungstenAIR obtains its lustrous white color through a patented nano-technology multi-layered coating
applied to the surface of the metal using a physical vapor deposition (PVD) method. The proprietary coating process
is specifically designed to enhance the color and provide extra protection and durability to prolong the life and luster of
TungstenAIR white. Triton’s white TungstenAIR is highly scratch, tarnish, wear and fade-resistant and designed to last.
(US Patent No. 8,932,437 B2 / 8,927,107 B2 / 8,956,510 B2)
8. HOW DO THE BLACK TRITON TUNGSTENAIRTM RINGS GET THEIR COLOR?
The rich luxurious color of black TungstenAIR results from a durable black Titanium Carbide deposit that is applied
using a physical vapor deposition (PVD) process. The PVD process deposits thin layers of color in a high temperature,
vacuum environment.
9. HOW DO THE TRITON TUNGSTENAIRTM RINGS GET THEIR POPS OF COLOR?
Triton TungstenAIR rings are available in designs that combine the TungstenAIR black and white metal, black carbon
fiber and pops of color in Fire Red, Arctic White, Midnight and Electric Blue.
The vibrant colors are applied in a multi-layered heat-sealed chroma-lacquer process. Each layer is heat-sealed to
lock in color durability. A final UV clear coating is heat-sealed on for shine and color protection.
10. CAN A TRITON TUNGSTENAIRTM RING BE ENGRAVED?
Laser engraving can be applied to any TungstenAIR ring.
11. ARE THE TRITON TUNGSTENAIRTM RINGS WARRANTED?
Yes. As with all Triton rings, our TungstenAIR rings are covered by the Forever Fit Limited Warranty, which warrants
against imperfections in design, materials and/or workmanship. See your Triton retailer or a Triton warranty card for
specific details.
12. WHAT CAN I DO IF MY FINGER SIZE CHANGES?
All Triton rings, including our TungstenAIR rings, are covered by the Forever Fit Limited Warranty. In addition to being
warranted against imperfections in design, material and/or workmanship, Triton rings will also be replaced if the original
owner’s finger size ever changes. See your Triton retailer or a Triton warranty card for specific details.
13. HOW DO I CARE FOR A TRITON TUNGSTENAIRTM RING?
While not wearing your TungstenAIR ring, it is best to store it separately in a small pouch or bag so it will not scratch
other, softer metal jewelry items. To clean your TungstenAIR ring, mix a few drops of mild detergent (household soap
works well) with warm water, dampen a soft cloth with the mixture and rub the surface of the ring to remove dirt and oil.
Rinse with warm water and dry with a soft cloth. As with all jewelry, avoid contact with any harsh chemicals including
household products such as ammonia, bleach and chlorine. If your TungstenAIR ring does come in contact with any
of the above chemicals, clean the ring right away using the above cleaning instructions.
14. CAN YOU REMOVE A TRITON TUNGSTENAIRTM RING IF IT GETS STUCK ON YOUR FINGER?
Yes, you can safely remove a TungstenAIR ring utilizing a vice grip removal method. This safe and simple process
calls for a vice grip to be placed firmly over the ring with increasing force applied by gradually increasing the pressure
of the vice grip. As the pressure increases the ring will eventually crack and can be removed safely from the finger.
