effective aND faster
With the LÄSSER MD5, a striking
further development of the proven MD
series, you will have some unique
advantages. The processing features
have been significantly expanded.
The ergonomic design and the improved access are remarkable. Control system and operating panel positioning
are flexible. We have dedicated a large amount of thought
and know-how to coordinated, and therefore more economical work processes. The consequence: it is faster and
more cost effective. As a result higher speeds can be used
for large stitches. Worthy of mention: the comprehensive,
redesigned thread cut.
improved embroidery quality
The quality of the embroidery has also been enhanced.
We have been able to improve the process capability with
difficult materials. the new software includes an
enhanced solution for moment-optimised stitching. these
advantages are particularly apparent in the reduction of
speed depending on the stitch length. Other benefits: the
SERVO FEED (thread roller drive with pattern memorising),
TRUE RUN (revolutionary crank drive), the patented
LÄSSER single thread guide system (STG) and MULTI
DRIVE with coordinated cam drives.
a constant fabric tension is ensured and different fabric
holder systems can be used as required. the repeat
controlled shuttle changes continue to be activated in
the new, fast thread cut.
ssL: the clever shuttle stop device. with ssL device,
shuttles that are not used for the repeat, are stopped. The
effect: quieter machines. You also save thread cut, because
the shuttle thread is not subjected to friction and it is not
necessary to cut every 2000 stitches. The shuttles can be
adjusted with soft or hard tension. Cotton and textured yarn
bobbins are running easily. The repeat controlled shuttles
can be exchanged in the upper position.

BISCHOFF-GAMMA (Lanka), BISCHOFF TEXTIL (Switzerland) and GAMMA
TEXTILE (Thailand) have consolidated their successful collaboration with a further
major project. The directors Mr. Max R. Hungerbühler (BISCHOFF) and Mr. Theprit
Srichawla (GAMMA) are bound not just by a long-lasting business relationship, but
also by personal friendship.

This friendship was a significant factor for the viability of
the project. It was a long, hard fight with the local authorities until all the approvals and necessary licenses were
organised. One of the most modern production facilities
for high quality embroidery has been setup in Avissawella, almost two hours from the capital Colombo (Sri
Lanka). The profound specialist knowledge of the staff in
both the companies is apparent in the planning and implementation of the business.
Perfected down to the smallest detail
Production has been perfected down to the smallest detail and ensures the process is optimal. It is immediately
apparent that particular attention has been paid not only
to the performance, but also to quality. Every work process is controlled and organised using the in-house production software system from BISCHOFF TEXTIL.
The local management, under Swiss leadership, comes
under the headquarters in Bangkok. From there the sale
of the products is organised and processed. All Bischoff
factories are equipped with «IN STITCH 7» punch systems. That means the systems around the world are
linked to each other. This feature makes communication
between the punch technicians easy, saves time and
contributes to a noticeable reduction in costs.
in operation:
LÄsser high performance embroidery machines
The production hall is equipped with the latest LÄSSER
high performance embroidery machines with single
frame and TANDEM technology. All machines are
equipped with ATC CUT colour change and thread cut. The
main focus is on the production of embroidery for the lingerie sector; however a wide range of embroidery for
other applications is also manufactured on the universal
machines.
Emphasis is placed on automation and the avoidance of
human error, for instance all shuttles are made available
on fully automated LÄSSER SCHIFFLI KING filling and adjusting stations. A state-of-art fabric dyeing facility and
fabric finishing, in which primarily European technology
is used, round off the production process. We are certain
this highly modern production facility is very well
equipped for the future and can only congratulate the two
organisations on their foresightedness.
the co-operation between
bischoff and gamma started successfully with an
embroidery project in thailand as long ago as 1994.
what made you consider
setting up a further production facility in a new country
– sri Lanka?
Mr. Max r. hungerbühler:
Our philosophy, like that of
our partner Gamma, is «never stand still». As a significant clothing industry has
become established in Sri
Lanka, it was for us a logical step to follow our customers.
has the project been supported by the local authorities and have you received active assistance from
them?
Mr. Max r. hungerbühler:
The local authorities welcomed our investment intentions and promised all possible support.
During the implementation
of the project, however, time
and again there were still
difficulties that led to exasperating delays.
what is the main focus of
the production?
Mr. Max r. hungerbühler:
On the production of embroidery for daywear and nightwear. However, a wide range
of embroidery for other purposes is also manufactured on these universal machines.
how many local staff have
found a new job in your factory?
Mr. Max r. hungerbühler:
At the start we are employing around 60 persons. As
the shifts expand this figure
will increase to easily twice
that number.
what brought you to use
LÄsser embroidery machines in production?
Mr. Max r. hungerbühler:
We use only LÄSSER embroidery machines in all our
production facilities.
As we are very satisfied with
these machines, it was logical to also rely on this manufacturer in Sri Lanka.
On what area is the production in sri Lanka focused?
is it the export market or
the local market?
Mr. Max r. hungerbühler:
Sri Lanka is an important
manufacturing location for
all types of clothing.
As our philosophy has always considered customer proximity an important
issue, setting up a production facility in this country
was a logical step.
Do you obtain the embroidery material locally or
does it need to be imported?
Mr. Max r. hungerbühler:
The majority of the raw materials for our production
have to be imported.
The embroidery yarn and the
bobbins come from Thailand, the fabrics from Europe, China and South East
Asia.
thank you for the informative conversation.
we wish you and your new
company biga Lanka all the
best and every success.

iNvestiNg DuriNg tiMes Of crisis
The ongoing optimisation of our production facilities and capacity has the
utmost priority to guarantee first-class
quality on the international markets.
Now, during times that the factory is
not working flat out, we are taking the
opportunity to make improvements in
logistics and production. An entrepreneurial attitude needs courage. But it
also guarantees sustainability and
continued existence.
Experience shows this action will pay off in the future.
With the optimised quality we will impress customers and
secure the success of our business. For us this means:
not making a big clamour, but taking action. Sensibly
investing also in difficult times. Extending progress with
new technologies for better times. Optimising costs. Then
we will come out of the crisis strengthened.
An example: we have procured a new robot system that
makes operations easier. Another example is the new pallet changer: two coupled machine tools with one magazine
on which various precision parts for the new LÄSSER MD5
series are manufactured. Only a few hands are needed to
operate the machines. They operate on a three-shift model
with no personnel required for one shift. A further sign of
how we are optimising our quality even in difficult conditions: development and implementation of the new
LÄSSER MD5 took place to some extent in uncertain times,
despite the uneasy situation on the world market. This is
our active way of further developing the high Swiss standards for embroidery precision. And to successfully pave the
way for the future.
