is the same whether it is achieved by a man or a
woman! Unfortunately, it’s quite a challenge for
women in our Arab society to succeed because

ADAPT THE CHANGE:
FINANCE FORUM 2015
U
nder the banner “Adapt the Change”, Nesma Holding’s annual
Finance Forum took place on December 9 -10, bringing
together finance representatives from across the Nesma
Group of companies at Nesma Training Center in Jeddah.
During his speech in the forum, Nesma President, Saleh Al-Turki,
emphasized the importance of adapting to the new changes in
the world of finance. He described how the oil economy has fallen
although the government is still, financially, one of the strongest in
the world with no overseas debt. He also said that in the future, we
are likely to see banks examining financials more carefully so it’s
important that our numbers are very accurate. We also need to be
very careful with expenditures and “challenge the budget”.
The last part of the forum included a speech about adopting (IFRS),
International Financial Reporting Standards, by guest speakers
Abdul Jabbar and Noamaan Yunus from Price Waterhouse
Coopers (PWC), a multinational professional services network.
The IFRS standards are being adopted worldwide particularly by
the G20 countries and Saudi Arabia will require all publicly traded
companies to adopt IFRS by 2017 and private companies, such as
Nesma, by 2018. However, Nesma Holding has decided to be an
early adopter and by 2017, all Nesma financial statements will be
compliant with IFRS.
