Although initially a British design, the Class C fuse was the original Canadian HRC fuse. Introduced at a time when the
only choices were one-time or renewable fuses, the Class C fuse was quickly specified by the Canadian pulp, paper,
and mining industry, and is still in widespread use in these industries today.

These tables assume that the secondary side of the
transformer is protected at 125% of its full load
current. This is usually the case.
Fuses used on the primary side of transformers must
be capable of:
!
Withstanding the magnetising inrush to the
windings of approximately 12x the normal full
load current of the primary for 0.1 sec. without
operation or element damage.
!
Carrying short-term overloads not exceeding
150% of the normal full load primary current.
The fuse ratings recommended meet these
requirements.
Class CA, CB
Fusetek 'N' series fuses are a British dimension
current limiting HRC fuse with very compact dimensions. They are used for a wide variety of control
applications where excellent current limitation and
compact dimensions are required.
IEC
'N' Series fuses can be used on any 600Vac or less
circuit. N1 types are best suited to applications where
surge currents are not seen. For surge current applications such as transformers, capacitors and motors,
the N2 series are better suited due to their medium blow
characteristic.
SSD fuses are used only for replacement purposes in
imported equipment.

All metal parts are tin plated for low contact
resistance and cool running.
Ceramic bodies.
Capacitor Application
Apply N1 fuses at 250-300% of the capacitor full load current rating. Apply N2 fuses at 200-250% of capacitor full
load rating. Choose nearest fuse rating next size up.
Resistive Loads
Use N1B or N1C fuses sized at 125% of the full load current. N2 fuses should not be used for resistive loads.

Introducing the Global Pro System
Offering World Class Performance and Global Acceptance
The International
Challenge
The benefits of the Global
Pro System include:
Engineers and equipment
designers are faced with a
dilemma when choosing the
right circuit protection for their
globally distributed equipment.
They need to determine what
markets the product will be
used in, what local electrical
standards apply in each of
those markets, and what fuses
should be used so users can
find replacements easily.
The Global Pro System
resolves these design issues
by
incorporating
North
American standards to fit
internationally accepted IEC
fuse dimensions. This allows
touch-safe fuseholders that
can be used in virtually any
market and permits equipment
to be easily adapted by simply
replacing the fuse with one
that meets local standards. It’s
that simple.
Global Acceptance –
Total Pro-Tection
Universal voltages
The Littlefuse Global Pro
circuit protection system
combines fuses and fuseholders in a simple package
designed to comply with UL
and IEC requirements. The
result is the single best
solution for your worldwide
circuit protection needs.
Touch-safe components
Flexible Components
Integrated lockout/
tagout devices for
OSHA compliance
The components of the
Global Pro system are vital
to its performance. The key
component
within
the
integrated system is the
fuse. The Littelfuse Global
Fuse is designed to offer UL
Class J performance, but
with the compact size and
international
compatibility

The Global Pro system is designed to save
valuable space in a crowded panel while
providing designers with the flexibility of a
universally accepted design for easy
replacement. Global Pro fuses are far more
compact and have greater power handling
capability than conventional products. Global
Pro fuses are up to 75% smaller than Class
R fuses and up to 50% smaller than Class J
fuses while providing the time delay that is
necessary for motor circuit protection.
Global Pro fuses also provide quick and
positive visual identification of blown fuses by
using a pop-up indicator design that
protrudes from the top of the fuse. The popup indicator is designed to immediately alert
maintenance personnel that it needs to be
replaced. Touch-safe fuse holders are
available with a built-in microswitch that is
activated by the pop-up indicator. The
microswitch can be used to integrate into
PLC networks, turn on stack lighting , and
provide equipment operators with a remote
method of determining when the fuse needs
to be replaced.

Littelfuse’s Global Protection System
simplifies circuit protection by incorporating
North
American
electrical
requirements into fuse styles found in the
rest of the world. The Global Pro
fuseholder features a microswitch that is
actuated by a blown fuse. This allows the
Global Pro system to integrate into PLC
networks and provide remote blown fuse
indication. An indicator light also allows
maintenance personnel to locate blown
fuses quickly.

RECOMMENDED FUSE BLOCKS
LSCR series:Refer to Fuse Block section of this catalog for
additional information.
Designed to protect today’s equipment and systems,
Littelfuse semiconductor fuses are manufactured with
Littelfuse-developed technology that sets tomorrow’s standards for accuracy, consistent quality, reliability, and predictable performance. By using advanced metallurgical, polymer,
and materials research; mathematical modeling, and computerized statistical analysis; Littelfuse engineers have redefined
“State-of-the-Art.”
SAFETY
■
200,000 A.I.R. — Reliable interruption of all overcurrents up
to 200,000 amperes . . . meets present and future system
requirements. (Note: L15S series has 100,000 A.I.R.)
■
Extremely Current Limiting — Low I2t and peak let-through
currents meet most semiconductor requirements.
■
UL Recognized — Littelfuse semiconductor fuses are
recognized under the components program of Underwriters
Laboratories, Inc., and carry the
mark. UL Recognized
semiconductor fuses may be used to provide supplementary protection in UL listed equipment.
APPLICATIONS
Designed specifically for supplementary protection of
semiconducting devices such as silicon controlled rectifiers
(SCR’s), diodes, thyristors, triacs, transistors, and similar
solid-state devices. These devices are used in power
equipment including variable speed drives, power rectifiers,
UPS systems, DC power supplies, and in a wide range of
electronic equipment.
May be used wherever extremely fast-acting, current-limiting
fuses with no time delay are required.
80
LONGER EQUIPMENT LIFE
■
Low Watt Losses — Means less heating and power
consumption in circuit.
■
Controlled Transient Overvoltages — All circuits are subject
to transient overvoltages during fault current interruption.
These transient overvoltages (arc voltages) start when fuse
links melt or circuit breaker contacts part, and subside
when circuit is interrupted. Semiconductors are very
sensitive to overvoltages. Littelfuse semiconductor fuse
designs keep transient overvoltages to low levels and help
reduce semiconductor failure.

DESCRIPTION
Cable limiters are fusible devices that provide very fast
short-circuit protection, primarily to faulted cables, but also
to other conductors such as busway. Cable limiters do not
have an ampere rating, and cannot be used to provide overload protection. Cable limiters are selected by cable size;
for example, a 500 kcmil cable requires a 500 kcmil cable
limiter. Their main use is to isolate faulted cables in circuits
containing three or more parallel conductors per phase.
They may be installed on the line side of the main service
to provide short-circuit protection to the service conductors.
This is especially important when service conductors are
tapped from large low-voltage networks or from large low
impedance transformers.
Cable limiters have terminals which permit them to be
installed in a variety of equipment. The most common
configuration is the offset blade on one end and the crimp
terminal on the other end. This permits the limiter to replace
a cable terminal (lug).

Introducing the Global Pro System
Offering World Class Performance and Global Acceptance
The International
Challenge
The benefits of the Global
Pro System include:
Engineers and equipment
designers are faced with a
dilemma when choosing the
right circuit protection for their
globally distributed equipment.
They need to determine what
markets the product will be
used in, what local electrical
standards apply in each of
those markets, and what fuses
should be used so users can
find replacements easily.
The Global Pro System
resolves these design issues
by
incorporating
North
American standards to fit
internationally accepted IEC
fuse dimensions. This allows
touch-safe fuseholders that
can be used in virtually any
market and permits equipment
to be easily adapted by simply
replacing the fuse with one
that meets local standards. It’s
that simple.
Global Acceptance –
Total Pro-Tection
Universal voltages
The Littlefuse Global Pro
circuit protection system
combines fuses and fuseholders in a simple package
designed to comply with UL
and IEC requirements. The
result is the single best
solution for your worldwide
circuit protection needs.

The components of the
Global Pro system are vital
to its performance. The key
component
within
the
integrated system is the
fuse. The Littelfuse Global

The Global Pro system is designed to save
valuable space in a crowded panel while
providing designers with the flexibility of a
universally accepted design for easy
replacement. Global Pro fuses are far more
compact and have greater power handling
capability than conventional products. Global
Pro fuses are up to 75% smaller than Class
R fuses and up to 50% smaller than Class J
fuses while providing the time delay that is
necessary for motor circuit protection.
Global Pro fuses also provide quick and
positive visual identification of blown fuses by
using a pop-up indicator design that
protrudes from the top of the fuse. The popup indicator is designed to immediately alert
maintenance personnel that it needs to be
replaced. Touch-safe fuse holders are
available with a built-in microswitch that is
activated by the pop-up indicator. The
microswitch can be used to integrate into
PLC networks, turn on stack lighting , and
provide equipment operators with a remote
method of determining when the fuse needs
to be replaced.
