A MESSAGE FROM THE LEADERSHIP
BLAQUE LYN HASTON
CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD
JAN RIDGELY
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
As you undoubtedly have noticed, we have
changed our name from United Charitable
Programs to simply United Charitable. This is
a powerful change that underlines our unique
role as one of the few public charities in America
that offers both donor-advised funds and fiscally
sponsored programs on a national level. This
name change signifies that we are united in
working toward a singular goal—to provide the
most effective and efficient platform for your
charitable work.
WE ARE UNITED in Vision
Our board of directors, staff and partners are united in a vision in which every
person, no matter what stage in life they find themselves, can give something to
enrich the life of another in their community or across the globe.
This idea sums up what we do every day at United Charitable, and is the basis
for our name change. United Charitable unites multiple aspects of philanthropy
in ways no one else can: whether it’s through actually DOING charitable work by
creating a fiscally sponsored program based on your vision, or by GIVING to others
to fulfill a charitable mission through a donor-advised fund. We offer both—with no
minimums and virtually no limitations.

WE ARE UNITED in Charitable Giving
We are united with donors who wish to make a philanthropic impact on their
community, address a national need, or help resolve a global issue. A United
Charitable donor-advised fund amplifies your impact by allowing you to grow
your fund over time, engage your family or others in your mission, and plan how
you interact with your chosen beneficiary organizations. Please be sure to read
the mission statements of our more than 200 donor-advised funds, which can be
found on Pages 17–26.
WE ARE UNITED in Charitable Work
United Charitable sponsors more than 350 charitable programs throughout
the U.S.A. and around the globe. We provide resources for fundraising, grant
procurement, and efficient management of your charitable vision. We handle
the 501(c)(3) obligations, payroll, revenue processing, bank reconciliations, and
reporting so you can do the actual charitable work that drives your passion.
Please read about these awe-inspiring programs on Pages 29–48 and share our
excitement for their good work.
WE ARE UNITED with You
By uniting with other philanthropically minded people, United Charitable will continue to increase the number of people you can positively impact as you establish
and grow your charitable vision. We are implementing new technologies and providing new resources to ensure that you have everything you need to make your
involvement with the charitable sector efficient, effective and fulfilling.
We are proud of what we have accomplished. And, we are excited about what we
can do—united with you—in the future. Read on and let the passion for philanthropy in these pages inspire you as it inspires us.

WE ARE UNITED IN
CHARITABLE GIVING
When you establish a donor-advised fund at United
Charitable, you’re getting much more than great tax benefits. You’re creating a legacy.
What is a Donor-Advised Fund?
A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a charitable fund established by an individual, family, or business under the care and aministration of United
Charitable, a public charity. As an alternative to a private foundation, a
donor-advised fund allows you to create a charitable legacy now and for
generations to come. United Charitable offers donor-advised funds as a
flexible way for you to manage your charitable giving, creating an enduring
legacy with maximum social impact.
How Does it Work?
The donor establishes a fund at United Charitable with the name of their
choosing (e.g., The John and Jane Smith Family Foundation, or the ACME
Giving Fund). You can even memorialize a loved one when naming your DAF
(e.g., The Jane Doe Cancer Foundation). Anyone can make tax-deductible
donations to United Charitable for the DAF. The donor can then recommend
grant disbursements from the DAF to other existing charities (and/or for
scholarship programs) that United Charitable approves.

How a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) Works
Make a tax-deductible donation to United Charitable to
establish your DAF. You can
donate a variety of assets
including cash, appreciated
stocks, property, etc.
Once the DAF reaches
$25,000, you can work with
your own financial advisor
to invest those contributions
(subject to United Charitable
approval).
At any time, you can recommend grants to the charities
and causes that you, your
family, or your organization
want to support, building
your charitable legacy!

WE ARE UNITED IN
HELPING WOMEN EXCEL
through the NetGiving Foundation
Immersed in a full-time, professional job, caring for her family, and dealing with
numerous other responsibilities, Sheila Dixon realized that she wasn’t alone in feeling
overwhelmed. She recognized that women often express a need to feel supported in
order to excel.
With vast experience in the corporate world, and a deep-rooted passion for building
stronger communities, Sheila created the Women Building & Investing in Success
(WBIS) NetGiving Foundation at United Charitable.
“Ever since I was a little girl, I knew I was going to do something that would advance
women,” Sheila said. “I want all women to know that you don’t have to be an executive—we’re already categorized enough. We are all talented. We are all gifted. So why
not pull all of our gifts together, and help one another excel.”
A donor-advised fund at United Charitable means more
Giving, less Work
Researching her options, Sheila realized that she would become overwhelmed by the
requirements of running her own nonprofit, and the expense of establishing a private
foundation was cost-prohibitive. She determined that creating a donor-advised fund
(DAF) at United Charitable was the best option.

A donor-advised fund at United Charitable is the
Perfect Solution
“My donor-advised fund at United Charitable is a great vehicle for those of us who are
highly involved in our communities and families, and who are motivated to give back.
It combines everything in a manageable way,” Sheila said. “United Charitable has
provided me with the perfect solution!”
