PRESS RELEASE
MODAMONT
CONFIRMS
ITS LEADING POSITION
For this September 2014 edition, the show is strengthening its position by offering an unrivalled range that
is both creative and international. Building on the momentum generated in recent editions, Modamont is
consolidating its location in Hall 4 at the heart of the Première Vision Pluriel shows and offering innovative
scenographies for its fashion information forums.
THE SHOW WILL WELCOME
320 INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITORS
organisation of a joint Press Conference with Première Vision
at the opening of the show on September 16th 2014, and sale
of the Modamont trend book, specifically for accessories,
at all the sales points in Halls 4, 5 and 6. Modamont is
particularly strengthening the synergy with Cuir à Paris, after
having acquired this show earlier this year, by putting in place
joint marketing of exhibitors specialising in footwear and
leathergoods, targeting buyers from these sectors.
Modamont, the largest accessories and components show for
the fashion and design sector offers a range that is ever richer,
more selective and innovative, including buttons, metallic
or plastic articles, textile accessories, lace and embroidery,
ornaments, functional items, packaging and components for
fashion jewellery. Exhibitors have once again shown their interest
in the event, with no less than 320 companies coming from 26
countries exhibiting at September’s edition, all of which having
been rigorously chosen by a Selection Committee made up of
exhibitors, buyers and designers. Although the market remains
fragile, the show is demonstrating great stability with one more
exhibitor than in 2013, proof that Modamont’s exhibitors are
loyal to the show and willing to invest in it in the long term. As
always, the most creative countries are present at the show:
Italy is still the most represented country, providing 49% of
exhibiting companies, followed by France (17%), Spain (7%)
and Germany (7%).
REINFORCING THE SHOW’S RANGE
WITH THE ARRIVAL OF 17 NEW
EXHIBITORS
The number of companies applying to exhibit at the show
continues to increase. The cross-cutting range exhibited at
Modamont is enriched with the arrival of 17 new companies
which, as usual at each edition, complement and complete
the accessories and components presented there. They are
mainly European companies: Italy (11), France (2), Portugal (1),
Holland (1), Belgium (1), but there is also a Japanese button
manufacturer amongst them. In terms of products, we note
a consolidation of the range of accessories and components
for the footwear and leathergoods markets, notably with the
arrival of a manufacturer of technical components (APC, Italy),
a specialist in laser cut-outs on leather (Ballanza, Italy) and a
company specialised in flocking for packaging (APC, Italy). The
fashion jewellery market is also strengthened by the presence
of a designer of enamelled accessories and components
(Creart, Italy).
STRENGTHENING THE SYNERGY
WITH PREMIÈRE VISION
The September 2014 show is an edition of strengthened
synergies with all the 6 shows that belong to Première Vision
(Expofil, Première Vision, Cuir à Paris, Indigo, Modamont and
Zoom), placed under the sign of development. The desire to
strengthen the unity and complementarity of the six shows is
stronger than ever: creation of a supplement, entitled YearBook
Pluriel, freely distributed in the Première Vision Pluriel shows;
development of a mobile application shared by all six shows;

MODAMONT
CONFIRMS
ITS LEADING POSITION
INNOVATIVE SETTINGS FOR THE
FASHION INFORMATION FORUMS
To support the booming jewellery market, Jewel Case, the
fashion forum especially dedicated to fashion jewellery will
be located for the third time at the front of the show. Thanks
to its ambitious scenography and its display cases evoking
a typical jewellers’ display, more jewellery components from
our exhibitors can be presented and better highlighted. This
season the forum invites us to take an adventure into space.
The theme is Gravity and accessories are based on kryptonite,
star dust and stellar materials. To illustrate this theme, the
jewellery creations of the designer Sarah Angold will be
revealed at the heart of the forum, enhancing the rich range of
products offered by Modamont for this specific sector via the
presentation of items already available on the market.
Modamont is constantly enriching and diversifying its
range, offering buyers the best in terms of accessories and
components for clothing and the various personal equipment
sectors. This season, the three forums located at the very
heart of the show will present the trends for the Autumn Winter
15/16 season through a selection of the best developments
and innovations from our exhibitors.
The general Display forum is a source of inspiration and an
essential starting-point for buyers as it allows them to discover
the season’s key trends quickly and efficiently. This season,
the new scenography is based on the architecture of a space
ship, with the A-W 15/16 colour palette forming the backbone.
To showcase the specific Bag & Shoe range, Modamont
dedicates an area to these markets within the general Display
forum, illustrated using a selection of samples from exhibitors
specialised in components and ornaments for these sectors.
To illustrate the first theme “Animal morphisms and organic
hybridisations”, Lolita Lorenzo presents her collection of
minaudière clutches, entitled “Africa”, while Pavla Podsenikova
unveils her collection of 3D shoes, “Instant Shoe”, to illustrate
the second theme of “Biomimetic design and futuristic visions”.
This season, Modamont is also dedicating a specific area to
highlight a characteristic market: sportswear/wellbeing. On
this area, collections of accessories specifically for this market
are showcased around a theme entitled «Timeless».
Index is located at the main entrance to Modamont, as
a veritable alphabetical directory, where each exhibitor
is showcased in 3D using representative items from their
collections.

shows of Première Vision Pluriel. Exhibitors with collections
dedicated to these two themes will be identified by two
pictograms illustrating the circuit, shown on their stand labels
and on the show maps.
Modamont sponsors ITS for the fifth consecutive year. This
competition is a platform providing support for international
talent, introducing the brightest minds to various important
figures within the fashion world, offering them the opportunity
to meet young designers from around the world and giving
them the chance to showcase their creations in front of an
internationally renowned jury. It is also an important springboard
that could be the occasion for finding professional opportunities
and the financial resources for preparing their future collections.
Modamont shares this desire to promote design and encourage
young talent, hence its association with ITS.
UNKNOWN PROJECT X Modamont
As part of the Random Memories theme for the AW 15/16 season,
Unknown Project by Modamont offers you a photographic event
with a futuristic vision for an exclusive intergalactic trip!
Visitors can take part in a unique photo call entitled “Space
Odyssey” to create a giant 3D fresco using photos taken during
the show. To this end, a wardrobe of “SyFy” fashion accessories
is at your disposal. A live painting performance will also transport
you through time.
Mirja Pitkäärt, an Estonian designer based in London, won
the Accessories Collection of the Year award for her collection
of artefacts last July. This award means Mirja takes away the
prize money of € €5,000 to create a new collection that will be
presented during ITS 2015, and she also wins space to exhibit
her creations at the entrance of Modamont.
TECH FOCUS PREMIÈRE VISION
FORUM IN PARTNERSHIP WITH SATAB
THINK 3D
The TECH FOCUS Première Vision forum showcases the French
company SATAB, a Modamont exhibitor (Hall 4 - Booth F35/
G34). This forum is based around a specific item - webbing and explores its visual, formal and technical qualities. The project
includes the use of six different colours of webbing, around
350 linear meters of each colour, making a total of 2000 linear
metres of webbing from the ranges made by SATAB Industry.
Over the 216m² area of this forum, the webbing will be used to
support graphic structures that will punctuate the forum and will
act as a support for showcasing highly technical innovations and
developments for the A-W 15/16 sportswear, outdoor, active
wear, beachwear, fitness and workwear markets.
To illustrate the core theme of the AW 15/16 season,
3D Encounter, Modamont is joining forces with the company
MULTISTATION to introduce you to a new industrial revolution:
3D printing. At the heart of a Fab Lab, the THINK 3D area will
provide information on the issues facing the new 3D printing
market and the various methods of printing, and also allow us
to experience the printing “live“ with a bank of 5 different printers
and 1 3D scanner. There will also be a DTP demonstration area,
allowing visitors to understand all the stages in the manufacture
of a 3D object. Initially conceived for the aeronautical industry,
it offers great potential for changes to production methods,
opening up new horizons such as plastic, wax or metal prototype
development for the fashion, jewellery and design industries.
This September 14 edition is undoubtedly stronger in terms of
the creative and innovative items on show. The rich and selective
offer attracts a growing number of visitors to each show. After
having welcomed 26,500 professionals in September 2013, and
27,000 last February, Modamont will once again be hosting the
most important players in the international fashion and design
industry. Modamont is an unmissable event for professionals
seeking visibility and new commercial opportunities and is,
today, the unrivalled leader in its field.

of originality and reproducibility. A 9m long laboratory bench
runs through a tunnel of seven circular luminous arches. 24
polyhedrons produced by 3D printers materialise the 24
colours of the A/W 15-16 colour palette.
Arranged on this laboratory bench in three colour groupings,
the 24 mathematical objects float weightlessly inside 24
perspex tubes. A circular counter seems to have docked there
and will allow the season’s trend books and colour palettes to
be sold within the forum itself.
Multi-material printing and 3D textures explore the vast
industrial and creative wealth of the so-called «additive»
printing process. The plastic and functional dimensions of
accessories and the third industrial revolution are the essential
figures of Autumn-Winter #15-16.
With 3D technology, design studios are becoming more like
scientific laboratories. Virtual styling and Fashion Labs create
new design processes, opening up the field of possibilities for
mass bespoke production.
FASHION LABS AND MEN’S AND WOMEN’S
READY-TO-WEAR
The Autumn-Winter #15-16 scenography of the Display forum
has been designed around the theme of a space station.
On either side of the chromatic bench, 3 laboratory modules are
positioned in semi-circles. Cyclorama designed to resemble
Californian blinds, large-scale reproductions of the thematic
moods for the season plus semi-circular shelving echoing the
lines of the cyclorama invite visitors to discover the accessory
and material highlights for men’s and women’s ready-to-wear
in Autumn-Winter#15-16.
Each lab module is identified with a polyhedron in suspension,
whose facetted geometric structure reproduces a texture
characteristic of the trends developed for each of the 3 Fashion
Labs. Two backlit polyhedrons float weightlessly nine metres
in the air. Accessories are iconic and bearers of style.
ANATOMY OF THE SPACE STATION
The space station consists of 3 Fashion Labs for men’s and
women’s ready-to-wear, a colour lab for experimenting with
colour, a sensorial dome that focuses on wellbeing and a popup lab for the footwear and leathergoods sectors.

accessories and components for fashion and design.
The Display forum for Autumn-Winter 15#16 focuses on
homewear and body fitness. Rounded lines and enveloping

accessories and materials combine functionality and

Three-dimensionality and techno-couture inspirations, space
opera and rock fantasy styling, Nordic design and postmodernism, are three trend pillars developed for men’s and
women’s ready-to-wear.
An immersive, luminous inflatable structure is an invitation

A chapter is reserved for the footwear and leathergoods sector
exploring rapid model making and 3D modelling of accessories
designed for this market sector.
Bag & Shoe Trends
The detachable colour palettes and colour inspirations, mood
boards and illustrations of textures, texts outlining inspirations
and examples of “it-textures” by theme are essential inputs for
the development of multi-sector accessories and components
collections for the fashion industry.

Heavenly, nebulous bodies, galaxies and solar eruptions,
orbit around a celestial body, irregularity of the gravitational

Exoplanets and planetary big bangs, telluric brutality and
raining meteorites, irradiations and green sun, the glacial era
and lava in fusion, remind us of the genesis of mineral and
raw forms.
Graphic and geometric lines, innovative materials and laser
cut-outs, generative design and 3D printing create futuristic
items with a radical and simple design. Between XL and XS,
components and jewels transport us to the confluence of the
universe, in a poetic and futuristic moment in time and space.

FUTURISTIC JEWELS
Beads gravitate, diamanté constellations are sent into orbit,
stellar sequins and raining stars underpin the weightless
beauty of celestial and gravitational jewellery.
Crystals and diamanté in chiaroscuro, transparencies and
opalescence tame the light of textures. Black pearls are
iridescent. Glass imprisons the nebulae of holographic
sequins.
Minimalism imposes its codes. Sculptural and geometric,
wired and mathematical, geometric and generative, shapes
work on the repetition and the three-dimensionality of
volumes.
Polarisation of textures and interferential finishes, wire
polyhedrons and mirrored stainless steel, generative cubes
and algorithmic triangles offer a privileged setting for
experiments with form.
TELLURIC JEWELLERY
Work the brutality of materials, hammer and slub metal,
fossilise and punch, atomize and fragment textures, these
are the style vectors of an enigmatic and telluric universe.

MIRJA PITKÄÄRT
ITS
Mirja Pitkäärt is an Estonian designer based in London.
Mirja graduated from the MA Fashion Artefact course at the
London College of Fashion in 2014 after studying leather
design at the Estonian Academy of Arts and textile design at
the University of Applied Arts Vienna. She has worked in Berlin
and London for designers including Anja Bruhn, Fleet Ilya and
Ally Capellino with emphasis on product development and the
production of high-end leather goods.
Mirja is interested in accessories that sit between product
and fashion design, using traditional as well as modern
methods of manufacturing.
Mirja Pitkäärt is the winner of the ITS 2014 Accessories
Collection of the Year prize. Her creations will be presented
at the entrance of Modamont.
Modamont sponsors ITS for the fifth consecutive year.
ITS is a platform providing support for international talent,
introducing the brightest minds to various important figures
within the fashion world, offering them the opportunity to meet
young designers from around the world and giving them the
chance to showcase their creations in front of an internationally
renowned jury. It is also an important springboard which could
be the occasion for finding professional opportunities and
the financial resources for preparing their future collections.
Modamont fully subscribes to this desire to promote design
and encourage young talent and is delighted to be associated
with ITS once again.
Using a combination of traditional and industrial manufacturing Mirja created artifacts that aim at encouraging the
emotional value of everyday objects. Placed between the
field of rapidly changing fashion and technologically driven
mass-produced industrial design, her work is challenging both
of these industries by trying to extend the lifespan of objects
of everyday use. Putting together CNC milling and traditional
craft, Mirja created shapes in tactile materials such as wood
and vegetable tanned leather with the purpose of emphasizing
tactile qualities.

THINK 3D
METAL ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING
To illustrate the core theme of the AW 15/16 season, 3D Encounter,
Modamont is joining forces with the company Multistation to
introduce you to a new industrial revolution: 3D printing. At the
heart of a Fab Lab, the THINK 3D area will provide information
on the issues facing the new 3D printing market and the various
methods of printing, and also allow us to experience the printing
«live” with a bank of 5 printers and 1 3D scanner. There will also
be a DTP demonstration area, allowing visitors to understand all
the stages in the manufacture of a 3D object.
3D printing was initially conceived for the aeronautical industry,
and offers great potential for changes to production methods,
opening up new horizons such as plastic, wax or metal prototype
development for the fashion, jewellery and design industries.
This technology, initially developed by MIT, makes it possible to
produce an object by additive manufacturing based on a digital
file. It is the only technique that allows items to be designed
without having to take into account technical constraints such as
draft angles, beams, gating, the price of the mould, etc.
Metal additive manufacturing, well known as 3D printers, is
the first niche in which Multistation has offered comprehensive
solutions of very high quality consisting of new «progressive
design» software, of additive manufacturing process (laser
melting bath systems, electron beams...), with materials such as
titanium... With these new design and manufacturing products,
parts considered as not feasible with traditional means can now
be manufactured. Multistation groups these new services under
the term «lattice engineering».
3D PRINTERS
The second segment is «micro factories», manufacturing in
small series with simples means (3D printers, 3D scanners,
micro millers, laser cutting machines...) for nearby customers
looking for differentiation, customization and deadline, generally
located in areas with low industrial development. Multistation
has become a turn-key service provider with a global market
purpose. Multistation’s approach of «micro factories» is made up
of constant inventive research of new machines, accreditation,
certification procedures... as well as the provision of all related
services, impact assessments, tutorials, data banks of products
to be manufactured...
MULTISTATION
Multistation company has provided leading industrial customers
with complex digital manufacturing equipment since 1987. In
response to the decline in industrial activity in France at the turn of
the century, Multistation had to adapt to the market requirements,
in its search for increasingly customized products and meet
the new expectations of the factories for agile and adaptive
production systems. New industrial revolution, industry 4.0,
factory of the future...all disruptive concepts affecting the realm of
traditional production means and their introduction on the market.
MULTISTATION, PROVIDER OF THE LUXURY INDUSTRY
Particularly for the luxury industry, MULTISTATION proposes
complete digital manufacturing systems, by delivering solutions to
every stage of the creation, the modeling and the manufacturing
of parts: software of computer-aided design, rapid prototyping,
milling, 3D digitalization, wax 3D printers, engraving and laser
welding …
Specialist of the rapid prototyping and the digital manufacturing,
Multistation has been one of the first to trivialize the use of these
digital technologies in workshops by making them accessible to
the largest number.
FROM HIGH TECH SYSTEM TO “CO-WORKING”
Multistation has positioned itself as a provider of two different
types of tools in order to face these new challenges:
Very sophisticated units with high market access, where
technological innovations coexist with design methods,
processes and new materials.
Smaller and more specialized units with low market access,
industrial citizen-based approach, premised on new societal
paradigms of «co-working».
