EPARM INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
Faculty of Music hosted the international conference of
the European Platform for Artistic Research in Music
(EPARM) - Sounds, Searchings, Sharings: Towards a Common Platform for the Development and Dissemination of
Artistic Research in Music (April 8-10, 2011).
Artistic Research is one of the newest concepts, and
currently one of the most vigorous areas of
development, in European Higher Music Education. Still
controversial in some quarters, it has been eagerly seized
upon in others and many institutions are now offering
‘Artistic Doctorates’ and establishing frameworks
through which their teachers may be encouraged to
develop their artistic practice within a research-oriented
context. Students of the artistic doctoral studies from
Belgium, Italy, Germany, France, Switzerland, Sweden,
Serbia as well as the directors of the institutions where
the ‘Artistic Doctorates’ has already been establish
shared their experience on this subject. Mr. Jeremy Cox,
chief executive of the Association Européenne des
Conservatoires (AEC) gave his opinion on this subject.
There was a wide range of topics that were discussed
from various aspects – performing, compositional and
pedagogical. Main goal of this conference was initiation
of the dialog, interaction and creation of the basis for a
mutual understanding of the polarized approaches within
the given issue.
A small concert was held within this conference
when, among others, French pianist Alain Roudier
performed on a Conrad Graf fortepiano piano from 1828.
Rector of the University of Arts, professor Ljiljana

AEC and Dean of the Faculty of Music professor Dubravka
Jovifid, PhD opened EPARM conference. This conference
geathered representatives from 23 European countries
and 118 participants. Representatives of the diplomatic
core were present at the opening ceremony and the
concert, making this event ever more special.

Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of
Serbia contributed to the organization of this conference.

Zorica Detkovid, pianist, harpsichord player and chamber musician started her music education in Belgrade. She
graduated (undergraduate and postgraduate studies) at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade in the class of professor
Andreja Preger. First contact with the harpsichord she had during her piano studies owing to the Students Cultural
Centre that organised harpsichord coursed led by professor Olivera Đurđevid. Ever since then, professor Detkovid’s
artistic enhancement has been developing simoultaneoulsy at both instruments.
After entering the finals of the Yugoslav piano competition in Zagreb 1973, Zorica Detkovid had been given an
opportunity to have performances as a soloist with Belgarde Philharmonic orchestra and to play with renowned
conductors performing pieces by S. Rachmaninoff, R. Schuman, F. Liszt, E. Grieg. Together with violoncellist Valter
Despal she participated in the World Festival of Youth and Students in Berlin.
As a harpsichord player Zorica Detkovid started her music career entering the finals of the International
th
competition in Paris wining the special award for performances of 20 century pieces. Having finished her harpsichord
Master studies she continued further professional enhancement at the international master classes in Spain, Belgium,
Switzerland. Moreover, as a Czech government scholar Zorica Detkovid spent some time at the in Prague in the class of
professor Zuzana Ružifková. As a soloist with the chamber ensemble she performed in France, Great Britain and
Scotland. In Belgrade she held a series of concert for harpsichord playing carefully selected pieces (Music from
England, Music of the French baroque, Parallels: Handel-Bach; parallels: Scarlatti-Soler, Music of the English virginalist
composers, Evening of J. S. Bach etc). Concert devoted to the French music was named the best concert of the season.
Zorica Detkovid has been interested in chamber music ever since she was a student. On several occasions she has
assisted at the Jeunesses Musicales international competitions (violoncello) and in 2010 she assisted in piano and
harpsichord categories. The greatest achievements as a chamber musician Zorica Detkovid accomplished performing
as a part of the trio Musica da Camera (U. Pešid, violin; R. Detkovid, violoncello). This trio had three consecutive
concerts at the Kolarac Foundation Hall playing the entire opus by W. A. Mozart for piano tri and piano quartet.
Besides pieces written for this kind of ensemble (Beethoven, Brahms, Schubert, Mendelssohn, Schuman etc), trio
Musica da Camera had a series of concerts First performances with pieces by Clara Schumann, Claude Debussy and
other composers whose pieces had never been performed in this region.
As a pianist Zorica Detkovid has been collaborating with Ljudmila Gros Popovid (soprano) with whom she has had

several concerts devoted to the Russian composers of the 20 century. Zorica has been collaborating with violoncellist
Mezei Ladislav playing sonatas for violoncello and piano by J. S. Bach, L. V. Beethoven, E. Grieg, F. Chopin, D.
Shostakovich, J. Brahms, C. Debussy etc. Recently she has been performing with her daughter, violinist Ivana Detkovid
in London and with her son, violoncellist Igor Detkovid in the USA.
During the last couple of years Zorica Detkovid has transferred her experience as a pianist, harpsichord player and
chamber musician to the field of research regarding the new aspects of interpretation of baroque music. Result of this
research is a project designed to introduce the brand new musical dimension of a famous music piece – Goldberg
th
variations by J. S. Bach. One of the aims of this concert held at City Assembly of Belgrade on October 13 , 2010, was
to join the authentic performance with the sound of drums through the carefully prepared arrangement by professor
