Kelly Roberts, President
Well if you didn’t make it out to the Tech Session
held on April 3rd, you missed a real treat. I would like
to thank Jeff Jones and all of his associates for
hosting the Tech Session.
A BIG thank You needs to go out to Peter Maehling
for organizing the event. I also need to Thank
James Walker Jr. for his time and for the great
presentation he gave on tires and braking systems.
I didn’t make it out to the Wall Climb held at Planet
Rock on April 3rd. I hope everyone who had a
chance to attend had a great time. I would like to
Thank Vigen Darian for organizing this event.
Last month, I said I would get off the bandwagon
regarding my search for someone to fill the
Advertising Chairperson position. But, no one came
forward so please take a minute and ask yourself
why can’t I help?
For those of you planning to attend the DE events
this year as participants or just to watch, we could
use your help. It could be as simple as bringing ice
to the event or volunteering to be a corner worker.
Anyone who has an interest in helping should
contact
Christian
Maloof
at
[email protected]
I received a safety notice from PCA that Kumho
has recalled the new ECSTA V710 tires. SCCA has
banned the use of the V710 tires for Racing and
Solo use. If you have these tires on your car please
replace them before showing up at any of our DE
events.
.
For more information you can go to this address:
http://kumhousa.com/V710.asp
I hope everyone has had a chance to get their cars
out of storage because, you need to get your baby
all cleaned up and ready for the Rally Sport
Challenge being held July 24th. Since I have what I’ll
call insider information on the event I know it’s going
to be a great time for everyone. So make your plans
now to attend I don’t think you’ll be sorry.
If you or anyone you know would like to donate an
auction item for the Rally Sport Challenge silent
auction you can e-mail Matt Huber or me with the
item information and we’ll let you know if we can
pick it up or better yet, sign up to attend and bring
the item with you. I am planning to donate a few
items from my personal collection of Porsche
memorabilia. Lets see it could be a full press kit
from the 2000 Detroit Auto show with all of the color
pictures and slides or it could be an autographed
item from Brumos Porsche Factory Race team. I am
just itching to tell you what I am going to bring but
you’ll just have to attend to find out.
Kelly
Personal Thought: Lets see what is my personal
thought this month? I know “Age is just a state of
mind”. Think about it!

Tech Session at
About thirty Rally Sport members were at our Spring Tech Session hosted by Jeff Jones. It was a beautiful day
and many members took the opportunity to drive their Porsches for the first time this year. We were very fortunate that our own Alexander Pollock drove his white 904 so we could see a bit of Porsche history. Peter Maehling recruited an expert to cover the topic of tires and braking systems. James Walker Jr. was our presenter and
he held the audiences attention with a comprehensive discussion of what really makes our cars stop. James
does consulting and design work in the auto and aftermarket industries. Thanks again to James Jr. for spending
his day with us. Some members brought Porsche items for sale/swap and a number of parts changed hands.
Thanks again Jeff, Peter and James.

PCNA Porsche Supercup Dinner and Race tickets for the benefit of PCA members
planned for Indy F1 Race at the United States Grand Prix June 19&20, 2004.
Porsche Cars North America and the Central Indiana Region of the Porsche Club of America are pleased
to announce the Third Annual Porsche Supercup Dinner to be held on Saturday, June 19th in conjunction
with festivities surrounding the United States Grand Prix Formula One race.
This year’s Supercup Dinner will be hosted at the Walker Racing facility in Indianapolis and feature a
variety of current and vintage Porsche’s including the 1989 Porsche Indy Car that was piloted by Teo Fabi
under the direction of Derrick Walker. The dinner will feature a special “keynote” speaker and will also
feature select Porsche Supercup drivers talking about their experiences with Porsche and the Supercup
program.
Again this year, the United States Grand Prix festival committee in conjunction with Central Indiana Region PCA will hold the Porsche Grand Car Cruise through downtown Indianapolis. The Supercup Dinner
will follow the Car Cruise enabling dinner attendees to participate in both the cruise and dinner.
Seating is limited therefore early registration is encouraged. The $55.00 registration fee per attendee
includes access to the Walker Racing facilities, a selection of beer and wine, dinner and desert. Registration will be made available online at http://www.cirpca.org along with further details in the coming weeks.
Porsche Cars North America has made special arrangements with the track for PCA members. The seats
“best in the house” are located in section H (1st turn coming off the oval). Race tickets are $105. Please
contact 1 800-822-INDY and ask for Carole. Please specify that you are a PCA member, have your PCA
number available, and want to sit in the Porsche Cars North America block.

“Morning Breakfast Club Garage get-together”
More than twenty Rally Sport members came to Jim Dunham’s “garage” on Saturday, March 20th,
and were treated to a breakfast feast. The items served were too numerous to mention, but suffice
it to say that Loretta and Jim put out a first class breakfast buffet. We had a chance to see the significant progress on Jim’s GT40 project and discuss issues pertaining to our own Porsche projects
for 2004. It was a great time to talk, socialize and share Porsche tech info. Thanks again to
Loretta and Jim for all of their effort and the terrific breakfast.

Need Car Advice?
Dear Portia,
Why doesn’t the government give us a tax break on our Porsche
expenses?
Completely Puzzled in Algonac
Dear CPA,
Dat ist one good question. After all, it’s like having a child: fun at
times but often cranky and temperamental. Some even refer to their cars as
“The Baby.” Maybe we should start a petition drive and get other clubs to join
in. It would be like the good old days; protest marches, sit ins, cheap beer
and free love. Your favorite Valkyrie will be there with bells on.
Dear Portia,
My son has been bugging me about taking the Porsche to school.
Should I let him? He seems mature and he is 17 now. Concerned Parent

Dear CP,
First let me refer you to a fellow club member: Dr. Elliot Wagenheim.
He can help people like you since you seem to be a few quarts shy of an oil
change. The first thing your darling will try will be top end, and he won’t even
be out of the neighborhood. The next thing will be to impress every cute
young thing at school, which will mean skipping class for a week to give them
all rides. By the time you get the car back it will be muddy, out of gas and
reeking of beer. By the way, since you’re such a soft touch, can I borrow the
car next week?
