Lent is again approaching and with it the wonderful
opportunity we have to be together in the body of Christ. Our
Men's Lenten Breakfast series is the most inclusive
ecumenical event in Fremont. We meet each Friday morning
at 7:00 a.m. (Note the time) with breakfast ($3.00 donation)
provided by the host church, followed by a time of worship
and education led by the host pastor or a lay leader. We plan
to be finished by about 7:45 a.m. for those who have to get to
work.
________Following the worship service, I/we will pick up our
flower(s).
________Following the worship service, the Altar Committee
may take care of my/our flowers in an appropriate
way.

Pastor Ray’s Ramblings:
The political campaigns to
become the presidential nominee for
each of the two major parties are
known for name calling, false allegations, lies,
exaggerations, and all manner of misleading accusations of
one kind or another from one candidate to another. Some
people believe it makes great theater. Some become
disgusted by it all. Some day it is not dignified but is to be
expected. That this happens among the potential leaders of
this country reflects that there is much hostility and rage just
below the surface of many people. Even the opinion
columnists and “talking heads” on the 24/7 news programs
state that this presidential race is indicating a great antipathy
from the governed people towards those who govern them
that seems to be dictating campaigns in both parties
The contrast couldn't be greater between how human
governance operates and how God desires to see people of
His Kingdom relate to each other. What is sometimes called
“God's One Another Plan” clearly reveals how the faith
community is to be in the world but not of it.
“Be devoted to one another”. Rom.12
“Honor one another above yourselves.” Rom. 12
“Live in harmony with one another.” Rom. 12
“Accept one another.” Rom. 15
“Greet one another.”Rom. 16
“Have concern for one another.” I Cor. 12
“Serve one another in love.” Gal. 5
“Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying
each other.” Gal. 5
“Be kind and compassionate to one another.” Eph. 4
“Forgive one another.” Eph. 4
“Carry one another's burdens.” Gal. 6.
“Love your neighbor as you love yourself”
“Do unto others as you would have them do unto
you.”
This is but a sampling of over 30-40 “one anothers” in
the New Testament. There are countless other examples of
how people are intended to treat each other who claim to be
followers of Jesus. Would not that kind of interaction be
great to see in an election? I wonder how much interest there
would be in the nomination campaigns or if the press would
even cover it. But is it not wonderful to be able to claim
citizenship in the Kingdom that is from above?
Our Website - Music Ministry
Our Music Ministry draws on the
talents of three groups - Chancel Choir,
Gospel Singers and Praise Team.
Information is on the website to help detail these
groups for anyone interested in participating in the music
ministry or for those who are considering visiting our church
and are wondering about the music.
To navigate to it on the website go the FCC homepage
- click on ministries which will give you a drop down menu
then click on music ministries, this will take you to the
music ministry page. On the music ministry page you will
find information about all the different musical opportunities
at FCC.
Goulash Lunch - NOTE DATE CHANGE Sunday, March 6 -Women of the
church will be hosting a Goulash
Luncheon in Fellowship Hall after
church. This will be a fundraiser to help
us pay for the installation of new cabinets
in the church kitchen. Needless to say,
this is a very expensive project, and we want it to be done
right. Please bring your friends to church and stay afterward
for lunch. It will be great food and wonderful fellowship.
Cost will be a donation.
Book Circle:
Book Circle will have its first meeting of
2016 on Tuesday, March 15 at 10:00 a.m. at
the home of Ann Werner, 34 E. Oak.
The book discussion will be
“Treasure Island” by Robert Lewis Stevenson. Ann has
ordered books down at the library for everybody who asked
for one. The books will be behind the circulation desk - just
ask for First Congregational Treasure Island Book Circle.
However, if you don’t read the book you are welcome to
come and listen to the discussion. If you need directions
please call Ann at 924-0192.
Also, at this meeting a sign up sheet for hostesses and
book reviewers will be passed around.
Soup Supper:
On Friday, March 18, we will be
having a soup supper from 5-7 p.m. in
Fellowship Hall. The money earned from
this event will be used to help pay for the
new kitchen cabinets and flooring which will be installed
this Spring. Please bring your friends and come for soup
(make a meal soup for one) and fellowship! Cost will be a
donation.

Our Sunday Morning Easter

readings and music taking us through the
death and resurrection of Jesus Crist.
