THE Deadline for the
October issue of Ski Trails
is September 1.
September means
warm days, cool
nights, kids back to school and the
annual indication that ski season is
fast approaching……….. Trip Night!!!
If you received the August issue of
Ski Trails, you had an opportunity to
check out some of the details and
prices of the trips. As usual, the
selection is very diverse and reasonably priced. If you have never been
on an FDSC trip, you should give it
serious consideration. First, someone has done all the work for you travel arrangements, most meals, lift
tickets and lodging. You just have to
pack your bags! Second, it is a great
opportunity to get to know other
club members who you may not see
at social events or meetings.
Generally, the trips have at least one
apres party where you get to share
the events of the day. And third, creating wonderful memories. Big
skies, beautiful mountains, great
clam chowder, your first race and
sometimes your “event of the day”
will win an award!! It's all waiting
for you!!
So many members come out on
Trip Night just to catch some of the
excitement! Why not bring someone who is considering joining the
club. It's my favorite meeting of the
year. Hope to see YOU!!
September also means renewal
time. We sincerely hope we can
count on you for another year. Every
one is noticing how enthusiastic this
board is about having lots of fun!
You really do not want to miss out
on a single minute. Please try to get
your renewal in as soon as possible.
And while you're at it, please fill out
the survey and a chance to win $50.
This is your opportunity to tell the
board exactly what you think and
want as a club!
Fun, fun for everyone!!

Hello skiers,
It's that time of
year again, SEPTEMBER TRIP NIGHT. By now, everyone
should have had a chance to read
about the trips and pick one or more.
There is a nice choice of weekend
and West trips, so lets support these
trips.
Remember, checks must be made
payable to FDSC and you must be a
member to go on our trips. Come
early and get in line to sign up.
Just a reminder, please complete
the questionnaire on the back of the
membership renewal form. There
are some new choices to select, such
as a weekend golf trip next summer.

Hi to all,
The summer is
almost over and what season is on
the rise? Although when I write this
it is still August, I was in a seasonal
ski shop yesterday. The thrill starts to
gain some energy. If u love the sport
as I du, u may understand how I feel.
The September meeting is Trip Night
and the October meeting is at home
base with a new comer to our club
talking to us on how a good adjustment can change the way u feel. The
new comer is Nick. Show him our
pride and say Hello to him.
See you all trip night.

After much time and way too many announcements - Wildwood is just a few weeks
away. With that in mind here are a few things to remember.
1. Get those teams together. We are having volleyball and sand sculpture
contests. The first 20 people to enroll in the sand sculpture contest get an
extra bonus.
2. Money, money, money - If you have not sent your final payment - please do so
very now.
3. Rooms - we have provided the American Inn with room information. If you are
planning on arriving early, or staying late, please make those arrangements
with the hotel directly. However, we would appreciate knowing that also so
we can keep everything organized.
4. As of the time I am writing this article, we have one room left. If you have not
signed up yet, this is your chance to have a great late summer getaway.
Competition Director:
If you are not familiar with how things work - here's what it includes:
Bernie Resch . . . . . . . . . 610-781-4596
The hotel is on the beach just off the north end of the boardwalk. We'll be organizing biking and skating excursions in town as well as to neighboring towns. On
Saturday, there will a repeat of our popular beach volleyball tournament. On
Sunday, there will be a Sand Sculpture contest. (I hear some people are already
working on their designs.) If you're looking for something a little more relaxing,
you can just hang out on the boardwalk, beach or by the pool. Saturday night, we
have a great dinner and entertainment well into the night.

Hello fellow
Dutchmen,
I enjoyed getting
together with everyone at the
Membership Appreciation Picnic.
Thanks to everyone who volunteered
in our programs throughout the
year. Your contributions help make
this club special.
TRIPS:
If you love ski trips, then don't
miss the September meeting! Last
year was the first year that I actually
took a bus trip with the Dutchmen. I
signed up for the Instructional Trip
because I was skiing with people
who just came back from the '04 trip
and had noticed that their skiing was
on a whole new level. That fact
stuck with me and I signed up for the
'05 trip and it was such an amazing
experience. The instruction that is
provided is OUTSTANDING from the
never-evers to the advanced! For
many of us, it was our first experience on an FDSC trip and we had a
fabulous time. I had so much fun
that my husband and I signed up for
three additional trips last year (this
club knows how to have a good
time)! Lori did a terrific job with
every detail. It's so nice to just get on
the bus and leave your cares behind.
I am sure that the Instructional Trip
this year is going to be just as great
as last years trip. I am truly excited to
check out the new venue at
Belleayre, NY.
MONEY SAVING TIPS:
If you want to save some $$$ for
your upcoming trips - here's how!
Now is the perfect time to buy your
equipment. Both Pinnacle Sports
and Buckman's are running their
swap sales. If you are looking to
introduce yourself or someone you
love into a new winter sport, then
this is a very cost effective way to
purchase your equipment. Tip: If
you're a renter - now is also the time!
Ski shops have their very best rental
equipment now and it always goes
first (this is the classic case of the
early bird getting the worm). This is
a great opportunity to show your
support to our local ski shops, as they
have been very supportive of us!
Keep reading Ski Trails for future
sales and don't forget to use your
FDSC club discount when it applies.
Another money saving tip while you
are shopping at the tent sales - don't
forget to stop by the Bear Creek
stand! This is a fabulous opportunity
to buy your season pass at the early
bird rate! They only run their early
bird sale until 10/31/05 so don't miss
out.
Finally, the bargain of the season
is the FDSC lesson program! You
can't beat this deal: 7 fun-filled lessons with expert instruction and a
kick-off party, all for the low price of
$15. Sign up early for the lessons at
www.fdsc.org or see me at the next
meeting.
The Junior Lesson Program is currently being refined and finalized. I
will update you as soon as all the
details are in order. Please contact
me as soon as possible if you are
interested in signing up children in
this program. Email me at [email protected].
Don't
forget
to
check
www.fdsc.org for updates and
events.
I hope you will join us at
Septembers meeting for Trip Night!
Thank you,
Jen

Competition
Bernie Resch
First I'd like to
thank the Mosser's
very dearly for hosting the Race Team
picnic at their house. Also my gratitude goes out to everyone who has
helped with the event.
There is something that bothers
me every time I go to our meetings,
and I feel like I need to express my
feelings about it. I'm not sure if people realize how distracting it is to
carry a loud conversation while
someone is trying to present their
topic. Unfortunately, our PA system
is not the loudest, especially outdoors where there is a larger area to
cover. (I think at the August meeting
the crickets were louder than us).
I'm sure with the noise level, it's hard
for everyone to hear what we are
trying to say. Also, not everyone is a
seasoned public speaker, and for
some of us, it takes a lot to get up
and talk in front of a crowd. So
please pay your respect to the people who present, and keep your personal conversations to a minimum. I
don't mean to sound like a hypocrite.
Before I was on the board, I had my
share of conversation while sitting in
the audience. Now that I'm up here
trying to get everyone's attention, it
made me understand why Brian
Gallagher needed to use the hammer
to keep the noise down. The purpose of our meeting is not only to
convey information about the club,
but also to socialize, which is great.
You get to talk to people who you
may not see very often, so please
save it for the end of the meeting or
the bar area.
Auf geht's!

Hi Everyone!
I'm glad to say
that the Member's Appreciation
Picnic, before the General Meeting,
was a HUGE success thanks to all of
you who responded to the invites.
The board served over 80 volunteers
and their guests. We had good food,
good beverages, awesome desserts
(Thank you Julie and my sister-in-law
Crystal), and great service from the
Liederkranz. A BIG THANKS to all
the board members for all your help
making the event run smooth. Also,
I wish everyone would take time to
thank Nat LeGrande for his expert
cooking hands!!! Couldn't have
done it without all of YOU!!!
Golfing anyone? Please sign up
soon for the upcoming outing at
Green Acres on September 11. Sue
and Dave need time to setup the
teams and tee times. Need partners?
They can help. This is one more way
to spend a day with good friends
from the club.
Next up would be Wildwood.
There is only one reason they call it
WILDwood. Come have a WILD
weekend at the beach. Build sand
castles, play volleyball, bike, skate
and eat. Oh by the way... drink, too!
Everything is included in the cost.
Space is very limited, so act fast! See
Stan or Erick or give them a buzz.
Remember, those of you going early
on Thursday should contact Stan or
Erick. It's September 30 to October 2.
Don't forget to come out early for
Trip Night and sign up for all the
trips you want to go on, like
Estrimont! (hint, hint)
Bored on a Friday night, no
excuse!!! Come to a happy hour and
chat with some of us!!!
Keep on Talking!!

I hope everyone
enjoyed the Member's
Appreciation Picnic.
Thanks to Patti for organizing it and
providing some great desserts. Our
club is fortunate to have so many volunteers that help in so many areas.
Thanks to all of you!
So, you may be wondering how
you can get involved this year. It's
easy. Offer your skills for whatever
time fits your schedule. Some projects take little time, and some are
more involved. We'll take whatever
you're willing to offer.
One project involves spreading
the word about the many benefits of
our club. We're looking for some
people skilled in advertising, marketing, graphic design, or to contact
another organization to deliver
some information about our club.
Some projects are temporary and
involve little time, or you can join a
committee and become more
involved. Volunteering is a great
way to meet others and have FUN!
Contact me or any board member to
start the fun.
Share the news…and a dessert.

September is here
and we're getting
closer to the ski season. This is the month that we start
having our general meeting twice a
month. Hopefully we'll see you at
some of the meetings. Also, this is
the month to sign up for one or more
of the great trips offered by the club.
Come out to the September 1st meeting to sign up for your favorite trip
and join us for some fun.
September is also a great time to
start thinking about winter at the

a lot of good skiing and the lodge is
a great place to stay. So why not
plan your stay at the lodge today.

Dutchmen are being accepted now
through mid November. The person

ANNUAL FDSC GOLF OUTING
Sunday, September 11, 2005
Green Acres Golf Course, Bernville, PA
Join us for some golfing fun! Just $38 per FDSC member ($43 per non-member) will get you a round of golf and all the food,
drink and fun you can stand. Cart fees are $10 per person additional, paid
at the course that day if you want to ride. Prizes for both good golf and
lucky golf!
Tee off times start at around 11:45am. Munchies and beverages will be
available at the first and tenth tees, and we will have plenty of food and beverages in the pavilion after the golf is concluded. Prizes will be awarded for
closest to the pin on par 3 holes, long drive holes (for both men and women),
and low gross and net scores (Calloway handicap system). Sign up with
your own foursome, or sign up individually and you will be paired with a
compatible group of Dutchmen golfers. Remember, you don't need to be a
really accomplished golfer to play that day, just willing to have some fun and
participate.
Call Dave Coffey (610-678-2912), Diane Ferro (610-373-5602), Ed Soja
(610-914-2843), or Sue McMullen (717-898-3068) to sign up for the golf
outing, and mail us your check payable to FDSC. Golfers will be assigned
a specific tee time and notified the week before the event of your tee time
and playing partners, so please include your phone # and/or e-mail
address when you sign up. We will again offer a special competition for
those who would like to play the event in a scramble team format. The
scramble format is lots of fun, as your foursome plays as a team, picking the
best tee shot out of four and everyone playing from that spot, etc. We would
like to keep the scramble team format for novice (new-to-the-game) golfers.
Please, if you are a more experienced golfer, sign up for the individual score
format. Let us know when you sign up whether you prefer the individual
score division or scramble team format.
If you have any extra time and can help to solicit prize donations from area
businesses, merchants and restaurants, please call Dave, Diane, Ed or Sue
to volunteer.
