Special Bulletin 18 December 2013 OUR SPECTACULAR WINTER
Special
Bulletin
18 December
2013
We were not going to issue a newsletter today as we break up mid-way through the week.
However, we just couldn’t let all the exciting things that have happened over the last few days
pass without sharing them with you so we’ve put together this news bulletin and hope that you
enjoy reading about the things we’ve been doing, news we’ve received and looking at photographs
of our activities.
BABY CROWTHER SMITH HAS ARRIVED!
We are delighted to inform you that Mrs Crowther Smith had a baby boy
on Tuesday 17 December weighing 7lb. Both Mum and Baby are doing
well. We are looking forward to welcoming them to the school in the new
term to say ‘hello.’
OUR SPECTACULAR WINTER FAYRE
Our Winter Fayre on Monday was a huge success. Thank you so much for your generous donations
for our tombola & raffle and to all the wonderful parents and staff who helped out before and on
the night. Without your support and participation we would not have been able to run the event.
We were really impressed with all the fantastic yummy and imaginative cakes made at home and
brought in for our ‘great bake off’ competition. We had snowmen, christmas trees, golden bread,
biscuits and reindeer to name just a few. The competition was judged by Gurinder Patty our
school cook and Mrs Whittle. The winners all received their prizes at the fayre and every child
who participated received a goody bag.
The children had great fun setting up their stalls in the shared areas and selling the Christmas
goodies they had made. Year 3 were our year group winners raising £52.80 and will enjoy either a
party or a movie and popcorn treat in the new year to celebrate their victory.
We also had lots of fun games and activities taking place in the hall. In total we raised £949.89.
We hope to establish a ‘Friends of Chapel End’ Group later in the year and these funds will be
kept separate for this group and the school council to decide what it should be spent on.

A PANTO SURPRISE
On Wednesday the children were treated with an unexpected surprise pantomime organised by
our wonderful Mr Rahman. An emergency assembly was called at 9.30am and to the childrens
amazement they were presented with a performance of Cinderella by all the staff at Chapel
End. It really was an event not to be missed. Rehearsals took place in secret of an afterschool.
The wonder on the childrens faces seeing their teachers dressed up on stage as characters
from Cinderella was truly priceless. We had Mr Trunkfield as Cinderella, Mr Lemouchi as the
fairy godmother and Mr Brevitt & Mr Tofi as the wicked step sisters. Laughter could be heard
all around the school when Mr Kenyon (the wicked step mother) received
a custard pie in his face. The pantomime would not have been complete
without a guest appearance from Chapel End Charlie played by Mrs
Whittle and Mr Henson. Thank you Mr Rahman for all your hard work in
organising such a wonderful surprise for the children.
YEAR 3 CHRISTMAS PERFORMANCE
Christmas just wouldn’t be Christmas without a nativity and our year 3 pupils wowed us today
with a magical performance of their Christmas nativity.
Thank you to all the parents for attending and thank you year three for a wonderful show.
A QUICK REMINDER
Over the holiday please remember to log onto your child’s Bug club and
My Maths accounts. Please practise times tables with your child and
complete their times tables record sheets, ready for our ‘Big timetables
challenge’ during the first week back. We return to school on the 6
January. Please remember your PE kit (black shorts, white T-shirt and
black plimsolls) book bags, water bottle and winter coats. Thank you
