California Southland Chapter’s 15th Annual Memory
Walk will be staged Sunday, November 4 with registration
beginning at 7am.
Metro has launched a new feature designed for riders who carry
hand-held electronic devices that can access the Internet.
Metro Speakers Bureau offers free presentations to civic groups
and organizations on a variety of transportation topics.

Riders with hand-held electronic devices can now
get useful travel information at their fingertips by
logging on to a smaller, simpler version of
metro.net – metro.net/mobile.
The site provides Metro’s Trip Planner, fare information,
maps of the Metro System and other rider information
tailored to the electronic devices small screens and
slower internet access.
The new site will function on a variety of web-enabled
devices, approximately 90% of current hand-held
devices and all but the most basic machines.
To accommodate the devices’ small screens and
limited controls, the new site quickly leads visitors
to information.

Transportation
Metro Speakers Bureau provides free presentations to
civic groups and organizations on a variety of transportation
topics through its Metro Speaks program.
Hear presentations about ridersharing options, how to
go “green” with Metro, transit-oriented developments or
the latest advances in transit technology. Find out more

Pam O’Connor
Metro Board Chair Pam O’Connor and other Metro executives
will host monthly lunch-hour chats live at metro.net. Topics

O’Connor invited the public to share their ideas on the
agency’s tra;c-busting plans for LA County and share ideas
for staving off gridlock in Metro’s first Live Chat on Oct. 17.
In that first session topics such as expanding the network of
freeway carpool lanes and the Metro Freeway Service Patrol,
building new rail lines, adding more Metro Rapid service and
making vanpools more affordable were discussed.

For the first time in 15 years, Memory Walk is “on the
move” to Downtown LA. The 2007 Alzheimer’s Association
California Southland Chapter’s 15th Annual Memory
Walk will be staged Sunday, November 4 with registration
beginning at 7am.
Metro has launched a new feature designed for riders who carry
hand-held electronic devices that can access the Internet.
Metro Speakers Bureau offers free presentations to civic groups
and organizations on a variety of transportation topics.

Devices
Riders with hand-held electronic devices can now
get useful travel information at their fingertips by
logging on to a smaller, simpler version of
metro.net – metro.net/mobile.
The site provides Metro’s Trip Planner, fare information,
maps of the Metro System and other rider information
tailored to the electronic devices small screens and
slower internet access.
The new site will function on a variety of web-enabled
devices, approximately 90% of current hand-held
devices and all but the most basic machines.
To accommodate the devices’ small screens and
limited controls, the new site quickly leads visitors
to information.
Metro Speaks, You Learn About
Transportation
Metro Speakers Bureau provides free presentations to
civic groups and organizations on a variety of transportation
topics through its Metro Speaks program.
Hear presentations about ridersharing options, how to
go “green” with Metro, transit-oriented developments or
the latest advances in transit technology. Find out more

Chat Online With Metro Board Chair
Pam O’Connor
Metro Board Chair Pam O’Connor and other Metro executives
will host monthly lunch-hour chats live at metro.net. Topics
will vary and will be posted in advance on metro.net.
O’Connor invited the public to share their ideas on the
agency’s tra;c-busting plans for LA County and share ideas
for staving off gridlock in Metro’s first Live Chat on Oct. 17.
In that first session topics such as expanding the network of
freeway carpool lanes and the Metro Freeway Service Patrol,
building new rail lines, adding more Metro Rapid service and
making vanpools more affordable were discussed.

Celebrate the “Legends of Mariachi ” featuring the return
of Jose Hernandez y su Mariachi Sol de Mexico at the 17th
Annual Mariachi Festival, Sunday, November 18 at Mariachi
Plaza, a 40-year-old landmark where mariachi musicians
gather at First and Boyle in Boyle Heights.
Entrance to the festival is free and runs from 10am
to 4:30pm. Local and international talent will perform
throughout the day. There will also be children’s art activities,
local artisans on display and food booths.
Go Metro! Mariachi Plaza is served by Lines 30-31. For your

It’s a new twist on a Southland tradition. Hollywood’s
Santa Parade kicks off the holiday season at 5pm on Sunday,
November 25 with celebrities, marching bands, floats,
classic cars, equestrian units and more along Hollywood
Boulevard.
Come early and enjoy the parade from curbside for
