Murder Mystery Dinner at Tebala
On February 27th the Alabet Patrol presented a Murder Mystery Dinner at Tebala.
The play was based on a high school prom night. Several acts were presented during which
Hollie Guist was poisoned by one of the other actors. He performed a masterful demonstration
of collapsing and dying. There was a break for dinner and then the final act. Everyone was
asked who they thought was the guilty person. Several had very good reasons, but it turned out
to be Judy Bowers. Everyone had a great time and they asked when there would be another
play.

Winners of the raffle prizes were: Hollie and

Special entertainment was provided by Carolyn

the hula-hoop.

As of May 1, 2016, we will discontinue mailing
the Tebalagram. After much consideration, we
made this decision due to both the high-cost of
mailing the letter each month, as well as the overall
increase of member access to internet. The internet
version will be in color and will additionally have
YouTube video capabilities.
We understand that some members do not use the
internet. In these cases, please contact Denise at

you to receive the Tebalagram by other means.

POTENTATE’S MESSAGE
Greetings Nobles and Ladies,
I hope everyone had a great Easter.
Spring is finally here and along with that, starts our parade season.
I hope all clubs and units have successful year and have a lot of fun
along the way. Above all stay safe.
The new permanent bar in the mosque is now complete. It turned
out beautiful. Many of you helped to break it in on March 18, at the
St. Patty’s Day Dinner. It was a good time. If you have not seen the
new bar, make sure you check it out the next time you are at the
Temple.
I would like to take a minute to personally say thank you to the Director’s Staff, Loves Park Shrine Club, Ogle County Shrine Club,
and the Air Squadron for their generous monetary contributions to help further the work in progress on our building.
On Wednesday, March 16, I had the opportunity to have lunch with the Widows of Tebala at
P.A.Peterson. Thank you for the invitation. It was a pleasure to meet and talk with the Ladies and
hear their ideas and concerns regarding Tebala.
On March 22, we had an informational meeting for the Potentate’s Trip to Mexico. The meeting
was well attended and several more people signed up. There is still time to sign up. Deadline for
reservations is April 24, 2016. The All Inclusive Hotel is the Riu Palace Pacifico.
This should be a great trip, hope you will join us.
Yours in Faith ,
Tom Watson, Potentate

April 2016
Illustrious Sirs, members of the Divan, and Nobles,
We are facing a crisis, the time to change is here, and together, we
have to imagine the possibilities to make our survival happen.
How will we do it? Here are a few ways:
1. Embrace family programs and events within our temple find acceptable ways to embrace the idea to make it happen.
2. Encourage our clubs and units to develop fundraisers that promote
the ability to help finance growth in their membership and survival.
This will also help the growth of fraternal membership.
3. With the aid of the Temple, as well as the leadership of our clubs
and units, encourage and assist in the formation of new clubs and
units that support younger members and their families.
4. Together, we must all look into and implement the many modes of
modern communication, such as all call phone calls to members, more frequent use of e-blasts, better utilization of our website and it's calendar, auto text messaging, use of social media, Skype and/
or other forms of telecommunications.
5. Assisting lodges with the growth of brotherly membership; this is where we get our pool of future
Shriners.
6. Increasing our community Public Relations: in all we do we must think, "how does what we are
doing affect our image, and are we doing all we can put our best foot forward?" Make the best of parades or other appearances; promote who, what, where, when, and why in all we do. Promote, promote, promote!
How will we accomplish this?
First and foremost, by planning as a team. Your Divan will be working on a strategic plan and we
want to encourage each club and unit to put together their own strategic plan. Please try to lean
your thinking to PMA (positive mental attitude). Instead of thinking about why something won't work,
let's think about how to make it work, and make it successful. We can work together to make it happen! Imagine the possibilities!
Very Truly Yours,
Jerry Minor

BOURBON STREET COMES TO TEBALA
Bourbon Street Jazz rolled into
Tebala in grand New Orleans
style on February 20,2016 at the
Tebala Shrine Center. Talking to
the Divan members present, illustrious Sir Tom Watson, Asst
Rabban Jerry Minor, Oriental
Guide Chuck Pierce and recorder Mark Torrance, this is an
event that will need to be considered for future events at Tebala.
The food was in the true New Orleans style. Food that a lot of us Nobles have never seen at Tebala. The
great New Orleans menu consisted
of Red Beans and Rice, Muffaletta
Sandwiches, Jambalaya, Fried
Shrimp, Po Boy Romulade Sandwiches, Mini Cheese Cakes, Bite
Sized Desserts and a dozen other
New Orleans favorite foods. Just
about any kind of refreshments you
could think of.
Our Illustrious Sir greeted everyone
as they entered and our first lady
Nancy did a great job hosting this
event. Our Tebala welcoming greeters Denise and Diane did a great job at the door.
Many Nobles attended this
event as did non Shriners
who received information on
this event through our Tebala
web site. Our Illustrious Sir
and first Lady did a great job
hosting this event and all
said the food was great and
everyone had a fun time.
