Please join us at Community Living Dundas County’s
Annual General Meeting on Mon. June 24th at 7pm to hear
Christina Judd
Her Rhythmic training includes clubs, hoop, ball, ribbon and ballet. Christina
trains with Ottawa Rhythmic Gymnastics Club coach Xinhong Jin at the highest
Special Olympics level – Level 4. She also works the former national kickboxing champion, Steve Roxborough in Ottawa and Okiki Akenremi, former Canadian Olympic sprinter in Scarborough.
Christina’s five amazing older siblings support her as positive role models and
have made sacrifices to be there for her, such as paying their own way to travel
to international competitions. It is hard to express the dedication of her parents.
Kathy and Craig Campbell, as their love and support know no boundaries.
The special secondary educational support Christina received at Algonquin College helped maximize her reading and math potential, which supported her application to U. of G. Kemptville Campus.
Her passion for horses has helped her to further develop her skills. The family
appreciates that we recognize Christina's achievements and incomparable work
ethic together with her intellectual disability.
While here, Christina also earned a position on our International Dressage Team
with Dr. Katrina Merkies, coordinator of the equine degree program. Christina
says it has been a wonderful experience!
She and her family are so pleased that her strengths and areas of challenges are
accommodated for her to achieve learning in a college environment. As her parents stated, “she has conquered remarkable challenges, excelled in athletics, persevered in academics, demonstrated an extraordinary
work ethic and exemplifies immense courage. Despite difficulties in learning, she has displayed an inner strength that has enabled her
to develop into a talented, tenacious and passionate athlete, as well as a caring and inspiring young person– someone that all can
admire.”
Although Christina has represented Special Olympics in Canada, China, USA, England and Morocco, competed in the Special World
Games in Shanghai (winning one gold and four silver medals), won the Canadian All –round Special Olympics Rhythmic Gymnastics
championship, won four gold and a silver medal at the highest level in the Special Olympics 2011 World Summer Games in Athens,
Greece, she is only 24 years old. Already she is inducted into the Upper Canada District School Board Hall of Fame in Brockville– a
testament to her devotion to life, her family, her three horses and her education as well as her athletics.
Christina has spoken at numerous events, including: The House of Commons Finance Committee and Senate Committee on Human
Rights; various school and corporate events; the Law Enforcement Torch Run, OPP; Special Olympics Canada and the Special Olympics International Conference; keynote speaker at the Special Olympics Canada Festival; and was on Canada AM with Brian Williams
and Beverly Thompson, plus as honored guest for the International Women’s Day at the Chinese Embassy– and many more.
She was CTV Athlete of the Week, Ottawa Female Athlete of the Year for Special Olympics, Special Olympics Ontario Female Athlete
of the Year, won the 54th Ottawa Annual Sports Award, co-emceed a reception for then Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and won the
Child and Youth Friendly Ottawa Award, plus represented Staples in the national campaign: Give a Toonie, Share a Dream.
She was a selected member last October in Smith Falls as part of the Man in Motion Tour, carrying the cross-county medal as a commemorative 25th Anniversary tribute to the first Rick Hansen Tour.
As always, Christina brings her vibrant smile and positive personality to every aspect of her life, while continuously bringing focus to
persons with disabilities.
