Greetings Chief Families!
I would like to officially welcome you to the 2016-17 school year! It is
my hope you have had a great summer vacation and are ready for the
upcoming school year!
The Department of Education released school grades this summer and I
am very pleased to announce Santaluces earned a letter grade of “B.” I am
extremely proud of our students’ performance on the spring assessments
and we were able to maintain our “B” rating.
A post card was sent inviting all students and parents to our “Back to School
Nights” scheduled August 8th thru August 11th. At this event, students
will be able to pick up the following: schedules, textbooks, lockers, and
purchase parking decals. This is an opportunity to get acclimated before the
first day of school. I look forward to seeing all of you there.
This year our academic programs continue to grow with more students
enrolled in rigorous courses such as AP and AICE. The Freshman Academy
will focus on a team approach which allow an easier transition for our 9th
grade students. Career academies continue to flourish and students are
able to receive real-world experiences in these classes. The faculty and staff
have been working very hard over the summer to plan and prepare their
classrooms and lessons to ensure success for all students.
This year we will continue with a traditional high school schedule whereby
students attend seven periods each day. It is imperative for students to
come to school organized and prepared for every class each day.
Lastly, please consider joining our School Advisory Committee (SAC).
We really need your support as we implement school-wide programs
and initiatives. SAC meetings are held the
3rd Wednesday of each month. Our first SAC
meeting for the year is Wednesday, September
21st. Mark your calendar!
Continue to enjoy the last few days of summer.
All my best,
Mrs. Robinson
Principal

Universal Guidelines – CHIEFS!
At Santaluces Community High School, staff and students, alike, take pride in being CHIEFS! Each letter in the word CHIEFS stands for Confidence, HighExpectations, Integrity, Empathy, Focus, and Success. That is who we are and what we live by in CHIEF country.
Parents and family members can help us by talking about the CHIEFS matrix (see below) at home. Here are a few things you can do to support your community
high school with these Universal Guidelines:
üü Discuss with your children the importance of the guidelines and how the guidelines will help to achieve success at school, home, and in the community.
üü Hold corrective conversations regarding misbehavior and refer to the guidelines as a reference.
üü Celebrate and praise positive behaviors that meet the criteria within the guidelines.

Don’t Think About Being Tardy!
Hello Student Conductor
Research indicates that punctual school attendance and arriving to
each class on time contribute to overall school success. With that in
mind, Santaluces Community High School is partnering up with Student
Conductor, a web-based solution to making learning paramount and
keeping students on track. Simply put, when students are late to class,
they will be required to enter their student identification numbers into a
computer system called Student Conductor, which will track and identify
patterns of tardiness so that students are back in class quickly and
school officials can easily perform their administrative duties. In turn,
parents will be notified by the system and additional consequences may
be provided by school officials. It is a win-win for everyone on campus,
especially the students!
