MusselBound Install
Benissimo/MusselBound
Adhesive Membrane Installation Instructions
1
Underside
Begin with 3/4” or 1” cabinet grade
plywood.
Note: On L- and U-shaped counters,
plywood joints must be located in middle
of cabinet. For stability, joints must be
joined and screwed from bottom with
1 x 4 or 1 x 6. See instructions far right.
Set plywood pieces upside down
on floor, screw together with 1 x 4
or 1 x 6, then flip over and install.
Fasten securely to cabinets with screws.
Making sure it is flat and level, screws
flush or counter sunk.
2
Run 2” Clear Tape down center of 24” counter, then anywhere
where a seam will be present. Tape shown as white.
Note: Always run tape and MusselBound perpendicular to
any counter seams (far right).
3
Run MusselBound 11.75”
width roll down back and forth.
Cut with scissors to size and lay in
desired position, white side down.
Clear tape should be visible in
seam - make sure MusselBound
sheets do not overlap.
Remove white release liner and press
adhesive into place. Counter is now waterproof.

4
Dry lay components, then move and rotate for best
color flow. Components should be set with no spacers.
To accommodate angles and sizing, the components can be cut
using a standard wet saw. Ease cut edges with a stone.
Note: Always cut components bullnose first (see image top right).
5
Important Note: Make sure all components are level. If any
are not, put one or two layers of membrane on back of tile and dry lay.
Number components with white out pen.
6
Removing micro film and components in small
batches allows you to align pieces to original dry
lay positions. It also minimizes any movement or
shifting of remaining pieces.
Remove 4 components and peel back clear micro film from membrane.
Important Note: If counter has Inside Corner components,
always start there first and work outward in both directions.

Note: As components
are re-layed, make
sure they are net
fit with no space
between them
With micro film peeled back, put same 4 components
back in place and set by pressing into membrane.
Note: Pieces can be moved once if not placed correctly as long as they
have not been pressed into membrane.
8
Remove next 4 components, continue to peel back micro film,
then re-lay same components and press into membrane.
Continue this process until counter is complete.
9
Available in quart, gallon,
and 15-ounce spray
Wipe off white numbers and grout immediately with unsanded grout.
Seal immediately with Benissimo Stone & Grout Sealer (shown at right),
which works even if grout is still wet. The grout will continue to dry by evaporating
through the sealer.
