There was a headline in The Globe and Mail that read,
“there is a tidal wave of dementia coming our way”. And it is
true. The number of Canadians with dementia is growing fast and
predictions are that it will double or even triple over the next 20
years. This tsunami headed our way will cripple our society, devastate
our economy and break countless hearts. I know firsthand that the
burden of caring for our loved ones with some form of dementia,
is emotionally and physically all-consuming. But, as much as I
struggle, I still wake up every morning with the unwavering belief
that we can create a future where we can all age with grace and
dignity without the fear of forgetting who we are, who we were and
