| A N S W E R I N G T H E C A L L Providence Life Services 2013 Annual Report | “Answering the call to enhance the lives of those we serve in the name of Jesus Christ” •••• PROVIDENCE LIFE SERVICES’ MISSION STATEMENT | ANSWERING THE CALL | This past year, we continued our mission and our calling — sometimes in new locations, sometimes with new services: IN ORLAND PARK, ILLINOIS, for example, we celebrated the opening of a new type of senior living community. Thomas Place Orland Park is a beautiful new community that is making quality senior living affordable. IN HOMER GLEN, ILLINOIS, we watched three new buildings arise on the Victorian Village campus. These buildings will offer skilled nursing care, licensed therapy, and memory support in a very homelike setting. IN ST. JOHN, INDIANA, we began applying our mission statement to plans for a new Health & Wellness Center. The plans are being rendered by the same architecture firm that designed the additions to Victorian Village. We are answering the call to enhance life by offering care in a way that preserves dignity. Three new buildings on our Victorian Village campus will provide skilled nursing and rehab services. IN ELMHURST, ILLINOIS, we heard testimonies about the peace of mind that is available when a campus offers a full continuum of care. IN DOWNERS GROVE, ILLINOIS, an enhanced Memory Support program gave new hope to families dealing with Alzheimer’s Disease. The program teaches caregivers to make connections with people whose communication skills are diminished by disease. IN GRAND RAPIDS AND ZEELAND, MICHIGAN, Providence communities continued to make connections in the surrounding area, offering skilled nursing, rehab, assisted living, memory care, and retirement living. We also divested ownership of the South Holland campus this year. We were saddened to leave but grateful for the thousands of people we served and the millions of dollars of charity we have given over 40 years. This decision was most difficult and took place after a year of deliberation. However, being faithful even in difficult decisions like this allow us to strengthen the organization and prepare for future developments. Praying, studying, and planning by a faithful Board and leadership team has seen a growth in ministry and an enhancement in services throughout our history. And looking back, we can see how God’s blessing pours out on us whenever we follow Him in ministry. Richard C.
