What are Top Fuel Motorcycles ?

King Racing campaigns a motorcycle in the Premier Class of motorcycle
dragracing – Top Fuel Motorcycle.

The performance of these machines is astounding :-

injected, and consume over 15 gallons of the explosive fuel Nitromethane

What is `Drag Racing’ ?
Drag racing began in the USA in the late 1920’s when young people would
race each other away from the traffic lights down the main `drag’ (highway)
of small American towns. As Police clamped down on this illegal activity, car
clubs formed and these people in their `souped up’ vehicles (`Hot Rods’)
moved from the highways to disused airfields and dry lake beds. Then in
1951 the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) was formed which established
a set of safety rules. Permanent drag racing facilities (`drag strips’) were then
set up over the whole of the USA.
A drag race is held between two cars or motorcycles from a controlled set of
lights over a measured quarter mile straight track with the first to the finish
line declared the winner. In order to beat the competition, the machines
became increasingly more powerful in order to accelerate faster than their
opponents. These machines evolved from standard road legal cars and
motorcycles into the specially designed high technology machines at the
cutting edge of the sport today.
In order to encourage new people into the sport, various classes have been
established for road legal cars and motorcycles through to the premier
classes, Top Fuel Car and Motorcycle.
It is hard to describe the awesome spectacle of a Top Fuel machine in
competition. The sight and sounds of these machines as they reach speeds of
over 230 mph (320 for the cars) in around five seconds has to be seen to be
believed. Engines are pushed to the brink of destruction as the vehicles fight
for grip as they try to apply their awesome power to the ground.
With only one tyre through which the motorcycles grip the ground, the task of
controlling the awesome power is immense. The machines pull over 3g of
acceleration (more than an astronaut experiences at take off) from the
startline and lift the front wheel off the ground. Struts with small wheels at
the back are employed (wheelie bars) to prevent the machines flipping over.
The only way to steer the bike with it’s front wheel off the ground is for the
rider to hang his body off the side to alter the balance. The skill and bravery
of the motorcycle riders is paramount in attaining competence in this, the
most powerful sport on earth.
Association Options
We are able to accommodate many types of association with King Racing from a
very basic supply of parts or products through to a full financial support programme
for a season. We can tailor a proposal to your requirements, but suggest the
following types of package as a basis for discussion.
Additional to the benefits outlined, and subject to the association package, the bike
and team would be at the disposal of the sponsor for public demonstrations, shows
and corporate events. The sponsor's association would feature heavily in any media
where King Racing were in the spotlight, and our website would carry details on the
sponsor and their products / services. Where applicable, links to the sponsors own
website would be promoted.
We believe that Association or High Profile Association would be the most mutually
beneficial package for you and King Racing.

Parts Backup - Company decal on the motorcycle
Assistance with the purchase of parts to enhance the race effort.
•
Association Profile - The motorcycle would be named after the sponsor (e.g.
the `Your Name Top Fuel Motorcycle’) and would carry large Company logos
or graphics. The Race Transporter would also carry Company logos or graphics.
Two VIP tickets with full hospitality would be supplied for each meeting raced at
for the use of the sponsor, others by agreement.

High Profile Association - The motorcycle would be named after the sponsor.
The paintwork could be redesigned taking into account the corporate image and
colours associated with the sponsor. The riders leathers will also be in the design
and colours of the sponsors corporate image. The Race Transporter could also be
resprayed taking the corporate image and colours as the basis. Up to ten tickets
would be supplied for the use of the sponsor at race meetings. New fliers would
be produced promoting the sponsor and King Racing's association.

It is likely that you will wish to discuss a package tailor made to your budget.
For around £150, we can commission a motorsports artist for a prospective design
using your colours and logos superimposed on a facsimile of our motorcycle.
Due to the fact we feature so heavily in the media, we can guarantee substantial
exposure for your company on TV throughout the world, ensuring maximum
value for your investment. We are available to discuss any aspects of potential
sponsorship at your convenience. We can supply supplementary support of our
claims e.g. copies of magazine articles, press clippings, calendars etc should they be
required.
