This year’s theme is
Author! Author! The
guest speaker is Clare
O’Donohue, author of
the Someday Quilts
Mystery Series. In this
series, the Someday
Quilters team up to
solve cases. In addition
to being a mystery writer, Clare O’Donohue is
a television writer and
producer, as well as an
avid quilter.
The Friends of the library are grateful Ms.
O’Donohue has agreed
to travel from Chicago
to Lake Odessa to speak
at our fundraiser. All
profits from this annual
event benefit library
programs and services.

Each year in conjunction
with the Festival of Tables,
the Friends hold an annual licensed raffle. Tickets are sold
in advance and at the door
the day of the event. We are
undertaking a large raffle this
year and need your support in
purchasing tickets. All profits
from these sales will go to the
All Booked Up and Ready to
Grow capital campaign.
Ticket prices are $10 each.
Prizes are: 1st--$3,500 Alaskan
Cruise; 2nd--$1,000 Mackinac
Island Trip, 3rd--$500 GR Amway Grand Stay. Winners receive travel vouchers through
Drolett Travel, Grand Ledge,
and trip destinations, dates,
and times are negotiated by
the winners with this vendor.

members and All Booked Up
and Ready to Grow campaign
committee members.
BuildingProgress: The library plans to break ground in April this year if
all goes as planned. Stay tuned for more information!

A new love story will hit the
theatres on Valentine’s Day
2014 called Winter’s Tale. You
can count on it being on the
library shelves soon after its
release. That brings to mind
the many opportunities one
may find at the Lake Odessa
Community Library when celebrating Valentine’s Day 2014.
You may want to immerse
yourself in a weekend filled
with some of the greatest love
stories set to film by checking
out the number one movies of
all time West Side Story (1961),
The Way We Were (1957), My
Big Fat Greek Wedding, or the

tear-jerker Ghost (1990) with
Patrick Swayze and Demi
Moore. If you’re interested
in fiction, look for A Catered
Valentine’s Day: a mystery
with recipes by Isis Crawford,
Plum Lovin’ by Janet Evanovich, Totally Crushed by Eliza
Willard, or perhaps The Last
Summer by Judith Kinghorn.
It’s phenomenal! Some may
be browsing the shelves for
ideas on how to craft the most
romantic card or gift, decorate
with images of hearts and
roses, bows and arrows with
Cupid looking on, or contemplating romantic dinner for
two recipes with
a
decadent dessert to boot.
The Lake Odessa Community Library has a full array
of periodicals such as Martha
Stewart Living, Midwest Living, Create and Decorate and
Vintage Style to help kick off
your Be Mine celebration.

The newest book chosen for On the Same
Page in Ionia County is The Snow Child
by Eowyn Ivey. This is the 9th year for this
program and more and more readers are
joining in. Each library in Ionia County
will host the kick-off on Saturday Feb. 8th.
Twenty copies of the book will be handed
out free at each library on a first come first
serve basis. “We ask that it be one per fam-
ily”, commented librarian
Connie Teachworth. Lake
Odessa will be handing
out copies from 9-12 noon
on that Saturday. Stop in
and grab your copy! Book
discussion groups are available to anyone
interested. Please check with the staff.
