December 2010
Take me to the Premier members’ area
Welcome to the December 2010 Digital Scrapper Premier!
A special welcome to all Premier newcomers and “oldies” alike!
We’re embarking on the last month of the year. Amazing, but true! This
month is full of so many wonderful, magical moments, if you can just
take the time to enjoy them!
Think back, for a moment, to the year-end holidays you enjoyed
growing up. Can’t you just feel the excitement of wondering what was
in the packages under the tree? Of attending a candlelight service on
Christmas Eve, of celebrating Hanukkah, of staying up until midnight
to watch the new year turn . . .
Yes, this is a magical month, and I want to invite YOU to join in some
more magic as you watch the videos this month!
Jan Walker will give you a simple, yet stunning technique
that will absolutely transform your special images! She not
only tells you the technique, but also demonstrates how to
use it on various kinds of photos. Very cool!
In my lesson I’ll show you how to make brushes from your nature
photos. This is something you can do all year round, but winter
trees and branches work especially well for this technique!
Susie Roberts has two inspiring
videos that will get you ready for
2011! Learn how to create a simple,
yet gorgeous diary that will help
you keep track of your activities
and thoughts throughout the
coming year. It’s pretty enough to
print out by itself, but you can also
snag your journaling from it for
your scrapbook pages.
Susie’s second video will show you how to make a calendar that’s just
the right size to upload to Shutterfly, or you can print it out yourself.
There’s still time to make a calendar as a gift for family members, if you
get started soon!
So, in all the busy year-end actives, don’t forget to give yourself
the gift of better scrapbooking skills, by taking the time to watch
this month’s Premier videos!
Love and scrapbooking success,
Linda Sattgast
Top Picks - November 2010
Christmas Past Premier Kit
Between beautiful watercolor pictures and fun holiday layouts, the November Premier Gallery was filled with
digital delights! Once again, there were so many wonderful pages that deciding on a favorite was not an easy
task. In the end, I chose this fun layout by MissouriStar to be the November Top Pick.
Just looking at these photos makes me smile! They really capture the fun of this Christmas tradition and work
so well on the beautifully designed page. Even the round frames go perfectly with the cookie theme! I love
the journaling on the tag, as well as the pine sprig at the bottom of the photos. Wonderful job, MissouriStar!
Thanks to all of this month’s talented digiscrappers for some really inspirational pages!

Getting to know...
Micheline Martin
I’m so happy to have the opportunity to create a kit for such a fantastic company that
teaches so many cool things to scrappers!
Way up in the frigid North (Ontario, Canada), I live with my hubby, who was my high
school sweetheart. We’ve been together now for more than 10 years. We have two
gorgeous children; our daughter, Mystaya, who just turned seven, and our son Logan,
who is five (although he looks more like an eight-year-old!)
When I’m not spending quality time with my family, and running my own in-home
daycare, I spend my time creating lots of pretty things. I love to design and try
new things in PSE or PSP. I’ve been designing now for a little more than five years.
My favorite things to design are papers -- I’m a sucker for texture -- and alphabets.
Anytime I’m missing my mojo, I create an alphabet to help me get my groove back!
I learned to design before I even began scrapping, and when I’m not designing or scrapping, I like to listen to music,
watch movies, and pretty much anything to do with my family.
I really hope you enjoy the kit I’ve created for you!

Extra Tidbits
Seeing Clearly by Jen White
Many times I find myself wanting to slightly
alter an element to suit my specific need. In this
month’s kit I loved Micheline’s String 2 element,
but I found that the end of the string on the
inside of the circle was always imposing upon my
photos.
This is the technique I used to solve the problem.
Step 1: Open (File > Open) String 2 from the
4Seasons kit.
Zoom into the end of the string so that it fills
your workspace.
Step 2: Get Polygonal Lasso tool.
In the Options Bar, choose the New Selection icon
and set Feather to 1px.
Form a selection outline around the end of the
cord.
Step 3: In the Menu Bar, choose Layer > New >
Layer Via Cut.
Choose Layer > Arrange > Send Backward.
Step 4: Press Ctrl T (Mac: Cmd T) to get a
transformation box.
Rotate and move to where it best suits you.
Step 5: Merge the two layers together.
Step 6: Save as a PNG file with a unique name.
