That's okay, it shouldn't really matter as long we're all using the parent set. I guess that between
different versions and flavours of MAME there are some naming differences.
Mine currently is version 0.111 using MAME32FX, and my listing looks like this:

Nice one. I've had to resort to tweaking my settings/ controller setup again for this game; MAME's
changed alot since I last seriously played it.
Reached Stage 5, and like Bapsilon went very scrappy... not finished yet though!

*These instructions should work up to and including MAME v.112*
How To Configure Your GamePad To Work With Out Run:
Press "TAB"
Then click on "Input(this Game)"
Then make these changes to correctly map the buttons to your GamePad:
P1 Button 1- J1 Button 0 (This can be any button you
choose for the gas pedal - my preference is always
this button on my GamePad)
Paddle Analog - None (Use the Esc key to change to "None")
P1 Pedal 1 Analog - None (Use the Esc key to change to "None")
P1 Pedal 1 Dec - J1 Button 1 (This can be any button you choose - this button shifts the car
from Low to Hi - my preference is always this button on my GamePad)
P1 Pedal 2 Dec - J1 Button 2 (This can be any button you choose - this button is for the brakes
of the car - my preference is always this button on my GamePad)
Don't change anything else! These changes will correctly map your keys to your GamePad.

I got my wheel, today! There is NO reason to be using a game pad, when you can get a killer
thrustmaster (well, I'm assuming it's killer - I've been busy with a new computer - well, new to me - can
you say working on a cab? - and so I haven't tried it, yet) wheel on ebay for under $30 including shipping.
Hell, even the older, serial ones they got would be fine - and they're way cheaper. Treat ya'selves, yo.

Except when something's wrong with it. Ehhhhh. Must've been one of those days, cos the comp was fine
till I did something, restarted it, and then it wouldn't boot cos of a silly pci file missing or corrupted.
Suffice to say, I haven't gotten into the swing of this comp, yet.

Yeah, that's where I most often look for info. Um, given the geomtry - and if the lengths are all the same
in scale - taking any direct route, it shouldn't matter.
Anyways, here's my first effort. For blits an tickles, I decide to use the joystick on my panel instead of
spinner (which I already had the sensitivity set to maximum), and got farther than I ever have, I think.

Here's a better one. I went back to the spinner and fussed around with the settings a few times. Still, I
need to get a TurboTwist 2, or at least alter my USB bus rate.

My new MakoPad helped me improve my score. Although I was getting pretty decent at using the joystick
part of it, I still do better with the D-Pad.
