Creation of CentrePort Canada Inc.

A unique partnership among governments, business, labour and the
community created the vision of development.
•
Province of Manitoba passed legislation in 2008 creating a private sector,
for profit, non-share capital corporation called CentrePort Canada Inc. with
a Board of 15 Directors.
•
CentrePort Canada Inc.’s
mandate is to:
– Manage development of
the inland port;
– Market the inland port;
– Act as a one-stop
shop for investment
activity.

Western Canada.

Canada’s Foreign Trade Zone

CentrePort provides single access to federal FTZ programs. Supports the import,
storing and re-exporting of goods without paying duties and taxes until point of
sale. Provides companies with cash-flow management support.

Companies importing goods from countries where
Canada does not have a free trade agreement
may be eligible for:

Duty Deferral – duties are waived up front, or
rebated later.
–
Sales Tax Relief – exemption from federal and
provincial sales tax.
–
Customs Bonded Warehouse
– sales tax and duty-free
storage/distribution facilities.
• These programs defer taxes and
duties till a product is moved to
market.
