Rectorem Vittorio De Battisti, Magister Caerimoniarum - 2 - Dear devotees of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, The Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel is an important moment for all of us. It is the moment in the year when we stop, go back to our spiritual roots, and take time to pray. Our devotion to the Blessed Mother is essential. She is the most powerful intercessor with Jesus Christ our Lord. We know how important our earthly mother is for us. She is our refuge and counselor. As much as we need our earthly mother, we need the Blessed Mother to be our spiritual Mother. She has always been there and she will always be there for us. The Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel is now more than a century old originating in 1894. We can proudly say that our devotion is still strong and we have to keep the devotion alive. Our church, through the constant devotion of the people grew, from being a small church to becoming a Shrine and has also received the immense privilege of the Papal Incoronation of the Statue through the authority of Pope Benedict the XVI. May Our Lady of Mount Carmel continue to bless all of us through Jesus Christ her Son. Fr. Claudio Holzer C.S. Pastor & Rector of the Shrine - 3 - ENTRANCE PROCESSION .STAND. I wander in a fragile bark, O'er life's tempestuous sea. O Virgin Mother from thy throne So bright in bliss above, Protect thy child and cheer my path With thy sweet smile of love. . Mother dear remember me, And never cease thy care, Til in heaven eternally, Thy love and bliss I share. . Mother dear, O pray for me, Should pleasure's siren lay E'en tempt thy child to wander far From virtue's path away When thorns beset life's devious way, And darkling waters flow Then, Mary did thy weeping child Thyself a mother show . Mother dear remember me, And never cease thy care, Til in heaven eternally, Thy love and bliss I share. . Mother dear, O Pray for me! When all looks bright and fair, That I may all my dangers see, For surely them 'tis near. A Mother's prayer how much we need If prosperous be the ray That paints with gold the flowery mead, Which blossoms in our way. . Mother dear remember me, And never cease thy care, Til in heaven eternally, Thy love and bliss I share. - 13 - Ave Maria (Modern) As I kneel before you, as I bow my head in prayer, take this day, make it yours and fill me with your love. Ave Maria, Gratia plena, Dominus tecum, Benedicta tu. All I have I give you, every dream and wish are yours, Mother of Christ, Mother of mine, present them to my Lord. Ave Maria, Gratia plena, Dominus tecum, Benedicta tu. As I kneel before you, and I see your smiling face, Ev'ry thought, ev'ry word is lost in your embrace. Sing of Mary, pure and lowly Sing of Mary, pure and lowly: Virgin mother, undefiled. Sing of God’s own Son, Most Holy, who became her little child. Fairest child of fairest mother: God the Lord, Who came to earth: Word made flesh, our very brother, takes our nature by His birth. Sing of Jesus, son of Mary: in the home at Nazareth: Toil and labor cannot weary, love enduring unto death. Constant was the love He gave her: though He went forth from her side: forth to preach and heal and suffer, til on Calvary He died. - 14 - PRAYER .STAND. Priest and people recite together: All: Remember, o most pious Virgin, it is a thing unheard of that you have ever forsaken those who have recourse to you. Encouraged with this hope and confidence, my most dear Mother, I , a miserable sinner, cast myself at your sacred feet, humbly begging that thou wilt adopt me as your child forever, and take upon you the care of my eternal salvation: Mother of the Word Incarnate, do not reject my petition, but graciously hear and answer it. I beg you Holy Mary of Mount Carmel to accept this novena which I dedicate to you: . Pause. Here make your intention. .
