Eucharistic Holy Hour
for Our Nation
On Wednesday, October 26th,
beginning at 5:30 p.m., we will conduct a
Eucharistic Holy Hour for Our Nation.
As we draw near to Election Day, it’s a good
opportunity for us to come together as a faith
community to pray for our nation and our
leaders. There will be readings from scripture,
meditations, intercessory prayers and music
provided by Annie Karto. Benediction will take
place at 6:30 p.m.
Hurricane Matthew Relief Aid—Haiti
We are currently accepting donations for victims
of Hurricane Matthew, especially for the people
of Haiti. Donations will be forwarded to Catholic
Relief Services through out diocese. Please make
checks payable to St. John Vianney and write
“Hurricane Relief” on the memo line. You may
place your donation to the collection boxes at the
steps of the sanctuary, in the offertory basket or
drop it off at the parish office. Thank you for
your generosity.
Altar Flowers
We invite you to donate flower
arrangements in memory of a
loved one, to celebrate a birthday,
an anniversary, a baptism, any other
special occasion or a church feast.
Donations and the occasion will be published in
the church bulletin and announced at Mass.
Please contact the Parish Office at 360.1147.
This week’s front altar arrangement is donated by
Joseph & Pamela Fett in honor of their 40th Wedding
Anniversary.
Men’s Ministry
Journey
Together
The Men’s Ministry
of St. John Vianney
with SJVMM
Parish continues its
DVD program from Bishop Robert Barron.
You may view the curriculum online at
http://wordonfire.org.
Bishop Barron’s series The Mystery of God
comes to a conclusion with a summary of this
deeply searching subject. We are left with many
tantalizing question and much to ponder.
We begin a new DVD program from Bishop
Robert Barron on October 25th, that takes us into
the Advent Season, entitled Priest, Prophet, King.
Upcoming meetings are held on Tuesday,
October 25, November 8 & 22. Meetings begin
at 6 p.m. for pizza, with program presentations
6:30–8 p.m. in Msgr. Trainor Parish Hall.
For more information, contact Deacon Richard
What is Stewardship?
#2 Prayerful: Sees entire day as
an opportunity to be in the presence
of God.
In the bulletin of October 2 we published a listing
of six characteristics of an everyday steward.
This week let’s talk about #2, Prayerful.
An everyday steward sees the entire day as an
opportunity to be in the presence of God.
How often do you pray? Is prayer an all-day
habit? You don’t have to always say formal
prayers such as the Our Father or Hail Mary.
A few words of thanks giving and praise or a
cry for help, though informal, are just as worthy
a prayer. It’s easy to get into the prayer habit.
There are thousands of opportunities every day.
Don’t miss out on your chance to talk to God
often. Thank you God for giving m e the w ord s
for this message.

Safe Environment
Policies & Procedures
In an effort to educate all
parishioners about the policies
and procedures set forth by the
Diocese of St. Petersburg regarding
the protection of Children and Vulnerable
Adults, we now have a link on our website,
stjohnsparish.org, that will connect you to the
diocesan website page Prom ise to Protect, Pled ge
to Heal, for the Office of Safe Environment.
For those of you who do not have access to a
computer, you are welcome to stop by at the
parish office during business hours, to review
a notebook containing all of the pertinent information. You may also request copies to take this
information home. Keeping our children and
vulnerable adults safe is a high priority in our
diocese and in our parish. Informed parishioners
are a valuable tool in achieving this goal.

Vatican II, Mercy, and You
In this illuminating talk, Fr. Michael Gaitley
recounts how Archbishop Karol Wojtyla, later
Pope St. John Paul II, used the
teachings of the Second Vatican
Council with great success to
help Catholics in his diocese live
their faith to the full. Learn how
Vatican II provides a map to
help us enrich our lives through faith and
effectively experience the good news of God’s
divine mercy.
CD’s and booklets are available in the main
entrance of the church. We kindly ask for a $3
donation for each CD and $5 for each book to
continue this ministry. Checks may be payable
