Hello Friends

the fair comes to town. Jenna

We do pray for the shoe
box ministry as we will have
a packing party on Wednesday, Oct. 21. This will be a
fun time for all the kids and
parents to get involved in
the shoe box ministry. Special thanks to the ladies who
work all year to make this
possible.
Our Fall Festival is
scheduled for Saturday, Oct.
31. We will have “Trunk or
Treat” in the large parking
lot behind the Family Life
Center. Individuals or
groups that want to decorate
their car trunks and put out
games must be set up by
4:30 p.m. The activities will
include games, fellowship,
and food. Bring a friend or a
neighbor and join us on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 5:00
p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
As you can tell, there
are a lot of activities already scheduled during
October. So, get plugged
in and serve the Lord
through one or all of these
many, different opportunities. Who said you can’t
have fun being a Christian?
V.F.T.M. Ezekiel 34:26
Please, Lord
continue to shower us
with your blessings.

Hello church family,
Well, here it is the end of
September and Fall has arrived.
What a busy time we have had
this past month. Several of you
want to know how our Ben is
doing. Well, we get a letter from
him about twice a week and he
seems to be doing well. They all
have been sick and even he was
put on bed rest for a day or so.
We have one month behind us
and only two more to go. I cannot wait for November to get
here. I know he can't either. He
said it has been one of the toughest things he has ever undertaken, but he is learning to cope
with all the verbal and mental
aspects of training. He has been
selected as a squad leader in his
platoon which can be good or
bad. Those of you who have
served the military know exactly
what that means. He said that he
can't eat until everyone in his
squad has eaten so he is usually
woofing down his food. He said
he is eating well which consists
of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with chocolate milk for
every meal. Thanks for all your
prayers on his behalf and please
keep those prayers going. He
said that your prayers and God
are the only things getting him
through these long days.
I hope you are enjoying the
small changes we have made in
the worship service this past
month. We have been blessed
with a special lady that is signing
some songs for us and this has
really added a special touch to
some of the choir specials. We
are truly blessed to have Mimi
Leach join us and look forward
to using her in the days ahead.
We have also been blessed to
add the acoustic guitar to our list
of instrumentation for Sunday
morning worship. Our talented
Youth Pastor, Devin, will be
GRIFFITH
AT
A
GLANCE
serving on the platform with the
rest of the musicians in the
months ahead.
The Celebration Choir is
looking and sounding really
good. It was so awesome to
begin using the third row in the
choir loft again. I want to thank
everyone for the dedication and
excitement that is permeating
the choir right now. God is doing some great things with this
choir and I am so blessed to be
a part of it.
We are busy preparing our
2015 Christmas Musical. It is a
great and worshipful musical. I
can't wait for you to hear it and
worship with us as we celebrate
the life of our Savior.
Our new Sunday night children's discipleship training ministry is now in place. Team Kids
meet every Sunday night that
we have service. We start off
with music, then snacks, and
then Bible Study and recreation.
Thank you to everyone who
stepped up to the plate to help
this ministry continues. Unfortunately we did not have
enough volunteers to offer anything for our K4 and K5 year
olds. If you feel God leading
you to help out please let either
Shirlee Barrett, Cheryl Covington, or me know. We can plug
you into that slot at any time.
Our group of 12 had a wonderful trip to Eureka Spring in
the month of September. We
truly experienced the hospitality
and talents of the Arkansas
Ozarks. We saw how much it
takes to proclaim the Word of
God through various art forms
of pottery, sling shots, and of
course, drama.
A word to all the youth out
there, the auditions for the 2016
Mississippi Baptist All State
Youth Choir and Orchestra will
be October 17, 2015. If you are
interested, please see me to get
the proper forms. We will need
to get them filled out and set up
a practice schedule to prepare
for your audition. This honor
choir is open to all Mississippi
students in grades 9-12 that are
active in their respective Baptist Church. This is such a fantastic opportunity to share the
gospel message of Christ with
music throughout our state.
Please begin to pray now for
our Fall Revival beginning Saturday, October 3, 2015, with a
Fish Fry at 5:30 p.m. and opening service at 6:30 p.m. at
Fullington Farms. Bro. Stan
Buckley will be our evangelist
for the week and Michael Gibson will be our worship leader.
There will also be Dinner on
the Grounds Sunday, October
4, 2015, immediately following
our morning worship service.
There will not be any activities
that Sunday evening, but instead we will have a time of
prayer for revival in several
congregational homes.
Make plans now for a special Mississippi Homecoming
Concert featuring Bro.4, the
Blackwood Brothers, and
Soul'd Out. These three groups
will be at Griffith on Sunday
evening, October 18, 2015, at
6:00 p.m. There is a suggested
$10.00 donation at the door as
well as a special love offering
to be taken during the concert.
It is such a pleasure to be
your Associate Pastor. I stand
amazed at all the great work
God is doing in our church.
Please pray for me, my family,
and the staff here at GMBC. It
is through prayer that God
moves, and we witness Him in
all His glory and grace. May
God bless each of you.
~In His service,
~Bro. Steve Frederick

Dear Griffith,
It’s finally fall! The weather is
cooler, football is here and most of all
it means summer is over! With fall
comes change, but one thing that will
never change is our Father’s Word.
Which leads to the first youth
challenge: the first youth member to
find the verse and read the verse to
Devin Millis will receive a free Chick
-fil-A gift card.
Dear Church Family,
Thank you all for such
a lovely shower.
Ky and I were
overwhelmed with
the love from each
and every one of you.
Thank you all
for coming and making
our first shower so special.
Love, Kristen & Ky

Missionary of the Month—October 2015
Janeen Davis
Member Care Consultant
Serving the Asian Affinities and Single Personnel
Jane Davis grew up in the Midwest and now calls Nashville “home” when she is in
America. Jane studied education and music before spending several years in music
ministry, touring with a Christian group. She also worked in sales positions for various
technology businesses before responding to a call to overseas missions. She lived in
China for two years, sharing the gospel with unreached peoples in remote, mountainous villages. After returning to the states to get a master’s in marriage and family therapy, Jane retuned overseas in 2013 to provide Member Care to missionaries throughout Asia.
She offers counseling support for IMB personnel as needed, and overseas strategic
care and support for single missionaries. In October, 2015, all the long-term single
missionaries will come together for a time of encouragement, spiritual renewal, preaching, small group connections, and fellowship with other single missionaries. This event
is a major project Jane has worked on for the past couple years, and is potentially the
biggest way she can support the single missionaries throughout Asia, as they meet
others who walk the same path and truly understand the challenges and joys of being
wholly devoted to God in this specific way.
Prayer requests:
1) Pray for Jane and all the singles coming together in October, 2015.
2) Pray for Jane to be filled with God’s Word as she provides counsel for missionaries
when they’re struggling.
3) Pray for the single missionaries throughout Asia who are often isolated and lacking
fellowship in their remote villages and cities.
4) Pray for the ministry Jane and other singles have with the local people where they
live.
5) Pray that God’s Spirit will fill them with faith to believe, repent, and receive new life!
Be blessed—Janeen Davis

Back-to-School Blues:
It’s hard to believe that summer
is over and school is back in
session. Here are a few tips to
help get through the “back-toschool” blues:
1) Have a routine—this shows
stability and younger children especially need this
security blanket.
2) Get organized—organize a
homework space that works
for the child; what works
for you may not work for
them.
3) Talk through concerns—
help them be positive with
Philippians 4:13; encourage
them to communicate about
issues important to them.
4) Create a family calendar—
keep your family connected
about activities at school,
home, and church.
5) Write notes—stick a
“sticky” note on a lunch bag
or in a backpack wishing
them a good day; share your
love for them.
6) Pray and attend church—
schools have a huge impact
on our children; let’s impact
them in a Godly manner
through regular and intentional worship.
Remember—”Trust in the Lord
with all your heart and do not
lean on your own understanding. In all your ways
acknowledge Him; and He will
make your paths straight.”
