ETERNITY
PLAYHOUSE
Eternity Playhouse is Sydney’s newest state-of-the-art theatre
and event space in the heart of Darlinghurst. Winner of the 2014
National Award for Heritage Architecture, the 127-year-old
former church has been meticulously restored and renovated to
create a truly unique, stylish and welcoming space. Architects
Tonkin Zulaikha Greer, famed for their work on Customs House,
Carriageworks and Hyde Park Barracks, have successfully
fused contemporary design with the buildings original 1880s
historic features.
Close to the city and the bustle of Oxford Street, the
venue boasts nearby transport links and affordable car parking
facilities. This premier arts venue comes fully equipped with
a commercial kitchen, bar facilities and password secure Wi-Fi
throughout. Eternity Playhouse is a fully accessible, eco-friendly
building with two event spaces available for hire...
“The new Eternity Playhouse instantly becomes
Sydney’s most beautiful theatre. Its size, sightlines,
acoustics, stage area, ceiling height, seat-comfort
and ambient charm are second to none. It also
boasts the most attractive foyer in town, brimming
with architectural flourishes, handsome timber,
glorious stained-glass windows.”
JOHN SHAND, SYDNEY MORNING HERALD
THEATRE
AUDITORIUM
An intimate 200 seat tiered theatre ideal for presentations,
AGMs, seminars, product launches or performances.
The auditorium comes fully equipped with the latest AV,
lighting, audio facilities and internet capabilities. The D-shaped
thrust stage can be masked to create a scaled down platform
for solo presenters. One level below, the foyer provides an ideal
area for guests to relax, and enjoy lunch or morning tea.
FOYER
This stylish, split level entertaining space can accommodate up
to 250 guests. With in-house bar and kitchen facilities providing
a range of catering options, the foyer can be hired as a single
space for corporate parties, launches, dinners, cabaret style
events and end of year corporate functions, or in conjunction
with the auditorium for pre or post event entertaining.

‘MR ETERNITY’
Sydney Harbour Bridge, New Years Eve 1999
Eternity Playhouse was named in tribute of Sydney identity Arthur
Stace, who became known as ‘Mr Eternity’. It was in this venue in 1932
that Stace heard the sermon that inspired him to anonymously chalk
the word ‘Eternity’ on Sydney’s footpaths for almost 35 years.
