Puerto Vallarta
GENERAL
INFORMATION
Puerto Vallarta is color. It is history and
tradition; incomparable sun and beach;
lush, dramatic nature. It is art, culture
and fine cuisine. It is fun. And best of all,
without a doubt, it is the hospitality of
its people.
The conceptual proposal offered by
Puerto Vallarta focuses on three main
areas:
00 General information
00 Alternative areas for social events
00 Exhibition area
00 Additional tourist services
00 Connections
• Air
• Land
• Sea
00 Experience
00 Hotel infrastructure
00 Contacts
AREA 1) THE DESTINATION. The Puerto
Vallarta brand makes significant efforts
to position itself as one of the world’s
leading convention tourism destinations,
in
addition
to
the
international
recognition it has already earned for itself
as a unique sun and beach destination
located in a Mexican seaside town. We
must maintain this premise and show the
best that Puerto Vallarta has to offer in
this segment, based on:
• Its
hotel
infrastructure,
unique
concepts and diversified offering. Over
12,000 hotel rooms at the destination,
high-quality lodging in all categories
• Its air and land connections. With over
260 weekly flights from 17 airports
in the United States, Canada, as well
as major cities in Mexico. Overland
transportation to the entire country.
• PGA-quality golf courses.
• Puerto Vallarta’s cuisine, classified
as one of the finest in the country,
is recognized and enhanced every
year with the celebration of different
culinary festivals
• Its beaches certified as the cleanest in
the country, serving as an example for
beach quality monitoring programs.
• Experience in the organization of
important national and international
events
• Modern
terminal.
• Modern Puerto Vallarta International
Convention Center, with facilities
that meet the highest standards of
quality and technological innovation.
Conveniently located just 5 minutes
from the international airport and 2
minutes from the bus station, with over
9 thousand high-quality hotel rooms
between 10 and 20 minutes away.

• Excellence in the quality of the service
and hospitality: this is clearly what sets
us apart the most on the international
level.
• ts bay surrounded by lush nature,
watched over by the Western Sierra
Madre mountains
• Outstanding and diversified highquality tourism offerings and products;
with a wide variety of tours, activities
and daily expeditions.
• Distinguished and known around the
world as the “Friendliest City in the
World” by the Conde Nast magazine.
• There can be no doubt that the
primary strengths of this proposal
lie in the natural beauty of Banderas
Bay, the diversified tourism offerings,
the infrastructure, and the sustainable
development that Puerto Vallarta has
achieved.

Golf in Puerto Vallarta
Puerto Vallarta has garnered welldeserved recognition as a premier golf
destination. The area’s breathtaking
landscapes have been a key factor for
the creation of golf courses of unmatched beauty that blend into the magical
surroundings of tropical jungle, mountains and panoramic views of Banderas
Bay, inspiring designers of the stature
of Jack Nicklaus and Tom Weiskopf to

This spectacular 18-hole course is
quickly becoming a favorite, thanks to
the cool breezes coming down from the
mountains and the design that challenges even the most expert golfer. The
foothills of the Sierra Madre offer magnificent views over the Bay and Puerto

outstanding greens, and a course that
is both beautiful and challenging make
this one of Puerto Vallarta’s must-play

This group of rocky islets at the end
of the northern shore of Banderas Bay
teems with marine life –sea turtles,
dolphins, dozens of species of tropical
fish, sea birds including the bluefooted booby. Numerous caves around
the islands provide refuge for wildlife,
making them a popular snorkeling
and diving destination. Several local
tour operators offer boat trips out to
the Marietas, leaving from the Puerto
Vallarta Marina dock.
Caletas by boat
Once the private home of film director
John Huston, Las Caletas is now
an exclusive and hidden beach on

Here vacationers can experience pure

an ideal setting for both expert and
beginning divers, who can explore the
teeming undersea world accompanied

can play and swim with dolphins, or simply stand on an underwater platform to pet
or hug them, if they prefer. Special programs allow visitors to spend the day with
dolphin trainers to learn more about these intelligent mammals.
San Sebastián del Oeste
An exquisite colonial jewel, located an hour by highway from Puerto Vallarta, San
Sebastián del Oeste has just 600 permanent residents, and is a magical town where
silver mines operated as far back as the 17th century. Nestled among the Sierra Madre
mountains, the first settlers arrived in 1605, and soon San Sebastián was flourishing
thanks to the gold and silver found nearby. The main attractions are its main square,
an 18th-century church, the Hacienda Jalisco, a museum that displays the town’s
rich historical legacy, and a working coffee plantation where visitors can buy the
delicious special coffee roast, with its hints of chocolate and cinnamon. Motorcycles

Environmental hikes
The Sierra Madre that surrounds the Bay
is a North American biodiversity hotspot.
Many local tour operators organize hikes
to explore the region’s abundance of
flora and wildlife, including hikes over
rocky terrain and rappelling. Some of
the areas visitors can visit features
orchids and bougainvillea, Brazilwood
trees, parrots and different migratory
birds, iguanas and armadillos.
Whale watching
From mid-December to late March, Banderas Bay offers the world’s most spectacular
opportunities for whale watching. Visitors see these fascinating mammals in their
native habitat on cruises that last between four and seven hours on the deep blue
waters of the bay. The humpbacked whales that frequent Mexico’s coast come from
Alaska, and belong to one of the most important populations in the northeastern
Pacific, at least as far as their reproduction is concerned.
Art Walk
Puerto Vallarta is home to one of the largest and most vibrant art scenes in Mexico.
Over 30 art galleries exhibit works by local, national and international artists, ranging
from indigenous expressions of Mexican art in the form of jewelry and accessories
made of Mexican silver, stained glass and ceramics, to contemporary sculptures and
paintings. The local art scene has been invigorated by a very cosmopolitan group of
artists who have taken up residence in Puerto Vallarta.
Nightlife on the Malecón
At night, the “Malecón” comes to life,
and the partying doesn’t stop until the
early morning hours.
Sea turtle releases
Throughout the year, the coastline
shelters numerous marine species, such
as the olive ridley sea turtle, which lays
its eggs between June and December.
Official efforts to preserve this species
have succeeded not only in establishing
protected natural reserves, but also in
offering visitors a fascinating natural
spectacle that allows them to learn
more about this animal that is part of the
region’s official emblem.
Sailing
The excitement of sailing Banderas
Bay is available to all, thanks to the
exclusive high-speed sailboats that ply
the sparkling waters and offer visitors
unmatched views in a setting of luxury,
adventure and comfort. A late afternoon
sail provides an exclusive front-row seat
for the spectacular sunsets for which the
region is known. Swimming with whales
or taking a private sailboat cruise are
incredible ways to spend a day.
