ALPRS (City of Pewaukee squad 249)
Automatic License Plate Recognition Systems allow agencies to patrol high traffic/crime areas
while acquiring large volumes of local vehicle data. When combined with associated software,
ALPRS can be used to associate vehicles with efforts related to crime scene investigation,
criminal travel patterns and hotspots and numerous other intelligence purposes. The City of
Pewaukee was chosen for one of these units do to the high volume of activity. Mobile ALPR
Camera systems provide high resolution coverage of a full lane of traffic with up to two
concurrent vehicles in the field of view. The sleek designs mount nicely below the light bar for
limited visual interference.
CVS Drop Box
The city recognized the risks associated with unwanted prescription medication remaining in
homes and creating an unnecessary risk to our children. All too often prescription drugs are
placed in the garbage or released into the sewage system as a means of disposal. Both of these
situations have an adverse impact on society. The drop box provides a regulated safe disposal
of these medications.

2014 Community Programs
The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department again hosted the Badges & Buddies program sponsored
by the City of Pewaukee and Pewaukee Businesses.
These programs are proven to provide positive social environment for children and deputies, while
interacting and learning about fishing, archery, and bowling. In a controlled setting, deputies guide
the children in safe use of equipment and educate them about the importance and benefit of
conservation as a tool to promote the health of wildlife. Deputies also spend time having lunch with
the children and then provide a gift bag donated by sponsors that contains educational material and
outdoor related items.
The Waukesha County Citizen’s Academy again volunteered their time and assisted with the
programs. Adam Thompson, a citizen volunteer has donated countless hours to the programs and
was recently acknowledged with a Citizen’s Commendation by the Sheriff.
We continue to partner and work with Pewaukee Businesses as co-sponsors. These partnerships
while benefiting the programs have a secondary impact of creating working relationships with the
businesses. Deputies working as representatives of the city are able to discuss police services and
offer any assistance.
The cooperative effort of ALL involved directly impact the programs allowing us to maintain a quality
experience by providing equipment, t-shirts for the participants, cover facility rental fees, staff, and
provide food/beverages for the children. In 2014, our programs hosted approximately 284 children.
The Badges & Buddies Picnic was a great time despite inclement weather. There were one hundred
and ninety-six confirmations to attend the event. Our special guest this year were members of
Pewaukee’s Army Reserve Unit that brought along military vehicles for families to check out.

AMERIFEST
Amerifest is an annual community event hosted by Spring Creek Church that honors our veterans,
protective services, and elected officials. The free event consists of a Patriotic Concert, picnic lunch,
car show, and kid events.
Scouting is a BLAST
The event held at the Waukesha Gun Club is a recruitment event where current Scouts get to bring
their buddies to check out a little bit of what Scouting is about. The Scouts go through a safety
session before they get to shoot youth 20 gauge shotguns. The City of Pewaukee and Waukesha
County Sheriff were asked for assistance as range officers and instructors. It was a great way to
partner up to provide an important message about safety to scouts and their friends.
