and emotion.There's no shortage of $10,000 amplifiers mat can achieve diis goal. But who wants to spend that kind
of money on an amp? We've already earned a reputation for creating amplifiers dial sound as good—and often

course dial's easier said than done. Amplifier designer John Curl understands mat it requires a carefully

finesse. Just pick up a Parasound amplifier.
(Bend at die knees, please.) That weight you feel is
a solid chassis, an exceptionally large power supply,
and heavy-duty metal fins to dissipate heat. We overbuild with enormous high-current reserves for the finest sound
with any speaker. Not surprisingly, this also gives our amps an extremely long life and exceptional reliability.
Our amplifiers won't wear you out. Our amplifiers have very little of the odd, high-order harmonic
distortion that makes most other amps difficult to listen to over long periods of time. This phenomenon, known as
listening fatigue, occurs when your brain has to work harder to fully absorb the texture of the music with such
unnatural, odd-order harmonics in die way. Widiout even realizing why, you get tired of listening and simply want
to turn it off. While odier manufacturers rarely consider odd, higher-order harmonic distortion, eliminating it is
among Curl's obsessions and hallmark achievements.
A product Without Class A is a second-class Citizen. Even at extremely low volume levels, Curl drives the output stage of our amplifiers with extra high current. This enriched idling current compels Parasound output
transistors to operate at higher levels of pure Class A, virtually eliminating the fatigue caused by higher,
odd-order harmonic distortion. While this generates a fair amount of heat, it's safely dissipated by massive heat
sinks. For crescendos and explosive movie effects our amplifiers transition from Class A to Class AB and draw
on their vast power reserves with maximum efficiency. Curl is also very specific about his choice of
transistors. He specifies hand-matched, Junction Field Effect Transistors (JFETs) for the input stage and Metal
Oxide Field Effect Transistors (MOSFETs) for the drive stage in many models. Their electronic and sonic
characteristics are more similar to vacuum tubes so they serve up clarity, warmth, and richness that's far
superior to the brittle and disembodied sound of ordinary transistors and integrated circuits.
From input to output, the audio path is Clear. All transistor amplifiers use high-voltage direct current (DC) to
amplify the alternating current of the audio signal. But if DC ever reaches a speaker, it's toast. Most odier amplifiers
use capacitors to block DC in the path of the audio signal. Trouble is, capacitors delay portions of die audio signal
and blur die music or dialog. But not Parasound amps. From input to output the pam of the audio signal is
completely clear of capacitors. Instead we use advanced servo and relay protection circuits to continuously
monitor and divert DC, letting audio signals pass completely unhindered for realistic, edge-of-your-seat sound.
Improve the ratings of your movies. We believe the same high-end technology and sophistication that can
make recorded music so involving is needed to make home theater more exciting. Keeping the audio and video
signal path as clean as possible is just as important in a home theater as a stereo system. That's why our stereo
and theater amplifiers feature independent power supplies for each channel and can boast the same type of
circuit design. They differ only according to power, refinement, and price—not their intended application.
