Mark 16:5-7
5 On
entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a
white robe, and they were afraid.
6 He said to them,
“Do not be afraid! You seek Jesus of Nazareth, the crucified.
He is risen! He is not here. Behold the place where they laid Him.
7 But go and tell His disciples and Peter, He is going before you into Galilee; there
you will see Him, as He told you.”

As numerous as the stars in the sky so is the generosity of God’s mercy and loving
kindness in His gifts of forgiveness and healing.
Our Lenten pilgrimage continues with much hope because as followers of Christ Jesus
who leads us to his passion, to the cross, to the tomb, and on that Easter morn to share in the joy and
glory of His Resurrection.

With renewed mind and spirit our daily journey continues with greater compassion and understanding for
our brothers and sisters in Christ.
As in past summers, we anticipate our annual St. Kateri Family Reunion in Burlingame to celebrate the
77th Annual Tekakwitha Conference. This year’s theme is ‘Saint Kateri Tekakwitha The Bridge between
Our Faith and Our Traditions’. This is a great opportunity for her friends to recognize the many ways she
has been instrumental as a young woman of the Gospel to walk with her people for healing and for daily
favors.
St. Kateri Tekakwitha’s National Tekakwitha Conference has experienced God’s loving kindness
through some generous members who have responded to our appeal for monetary assistance to assist us
with some monthly expenses and for the purchase of office furnishings. We are most grateful to each of
our generous benefactors since the New Year.
The 2016 Conference planning has scheduled an off-site visit to Mission Dolores on Saturday afternoon,
July 23. Therefore, in this issue of the Cross and Feathers the meal package at the Hyatt will be reduced
by one hundred dollars ($100.00). Saturday’s lunch and dinner will be provided by the 2016 Planning
Committee. Those who have already paid for the full meal package will receive a refund check from this
office for one hundred dollars ($100.00) for the two meals (Saturday lunch and dinner).

PRAYER INTENTIONS
Saint Kateri Prayer
By: Harold Caldwell
O Saint Kateri, Lily of the Mohawks,
Your love for Jesus, so strong,
so steadfast, grant that
we may become like you.
Your short and painful life showed us
your strength and humility.
Grant that we may become forever
humble like you.
Like the bright and shining stars at night,
we pray that your light may forever shine
down upon us, giving light,
hope, peacefulness and serenity
in our darkest moments.
Fill our hearts, Saint Kateri Tekakwitha
with your same love for Jesus
and grant us your strength and courage
to become one like you in Heaven.
Amen.

UPCOMING EVENTS
2016 promises to be another exciting and challenging year for those
working in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Ministry. At times we
can all feel isolated overwhelmed by the issues that we come across on
a daily basis. NATSICC, along with the Bishops Commission for
relations with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Catholics have
built a retreat - Reconciliation - with God, with each other and
with the Land - as a way to support those working in Indigenous
Ministry and to bring the focus back onto their own spiritual wellbeing.
Through a process of recollection, formation and spiritual pilgrimage,
the retreat will provide delegates with the tools to share their faith and
a network of support to strengthen their spirit. Located in Australia’s
heart – Alice Springs - the Retreat will take place from 19-21 April
2016. We hope to attract 40 delegates from every State and Territory.
Speakers are still being confirmed but include Archbishop Christopher
Prowse, Aboriginal Theologian Evelyn Parkin, Bishop Christopher
Saunders and more. A pilgrimage to the Spiritual sites in and around
Alice Springs will take place on the final day of the retreat.
The retreat is open to anyone working in Ministry and Pastoral care with
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Basic Directions in Native Ministry
June 6-13, 2016
Sioux Spiritual Center, Howes, South Dakota
A seven-day institute for personnel who are beginning or are wanting to learn more about Native American ministry will be
held at the Sioux Spiritual Center in Howes, South Dakota. The institute is sponsored by the National Tekakwitha Conference. It
will begin with supper on Monday, June 6, 2016, at 6:00 PM (Mountain Daylight Time) and end on Monday, June 13, at 11:00
AM, with departures to the Rapid City airport after lunch.
There will be 31 hours of class work associated with the workshop. Speakers will cover topics that include missiology,
anthropology, liturgy, catechetics, collaborative ministry, Native culture and religion, and principles of recovery using AA.
Native speakers involved in catechetics, parish administration, and youth ministry will discuss their work. Although the institute
will take place in a Lakota setting, it will develop basic principles of inculturation that can be used in approaching any culture.
Space is limited. Enrollment will be closed after 22 people who apply have been accepted. The cost for the institute is $800.00.
This includes room (double occupancy), meals, and materials. Double occupancy means that you can expect to have a
roommate. Rooms are air-conditioned.
A $50.00 deposit is required with the application along with a letter of recommendation from the applicant’s pastor or
supervisor. The letter must provide information on the applicant’s current or future ministry with Native people. The deposit is
non-refundable after May 1.
Airport shuttle service will only be available at these times: pickup ONLY on Monday afternoon, June 6. Please schedule your
flight to arrive at Rapid City Regional Airport between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM. The return to the airport is ONLY on Monday,
