disseminate information for students and parents about activities, opportunities, and resources for Waltham youth.
The Task Force is a collaboration of The Waltham Partnership for
Youth, Waltham Public Schools, Waltham Police Department, Bentley University, YMCA, Boys & Girls Club, Brandeis University, and Waltham parents.
The central information site is the Parent Information Center of the Waltham
Public Schools.
The target audience is Waltham school age youth and their families.

The Waltham Partnership For Youth, located in Waltham, Massachusetts,
serves to initiate and strengthen relationships between community services and
organizations and the youth of the City.
The Waltham Partnership for Youth, Inc. is a multi-sector collaborative, a recognized not-for-profit corporation under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Its mission is to identify the needs of Waltham youth and to leverage to address those needs. The Waltham Partnership for Youth, Inc. advocates for Waltham youth, acting as a catalyst for youth agenda, coordinating
multi-sector planning, initiating new programs, and brokering resources from
all sectors of the Waltham community. Primary focus areas are academic enhancement, career awareness, and youth services.
The Partnership For Youth:
 Partners local business organizations with youth service programs to
strengthen community involvement.
 Works closely with local social service organizations.
 Helps youth grow into becoming better Waltham citizens.

About the Parent Information Center (PIC)
The PIC is an information center for questions about the schools, and a central location for educational
and community resources available to Waltham residents and the Waltham community.
Quick Reference Numbers
The PIC also handles all Pre-Kindergarten to 12th grade new student registration. Documents required for registration are: Proof of birth for the child (original birth certificate or passport), Parent/
Guardian photo ID (license, state ID or passport), Proof of Residency (Lease, property tax bill, letter
from landlord or residency verification form), Immunization records, Physical Exam (dated within 12
months to the start of school), School records, Custody forms (if applicable), Additional education
reports (if applicable).
The goal of the PIC is to provide parents with information about educational opportunities available in
the Waltham Public Schools and in the community at large.

Program Information: WFS is Waltham’s Even
Start Family Literacy Program, a program for families who need to learn English. Parents attend

one home visit/month focused on parent-child

Waypoint Adventure - Adventure Programs

Waypoint programs are specifically designed to be
accessible for youth with disabilities.

Waypoint leads kayaking, rock climbing, hiking
ropes course and snowshoeing program with the
focus of making them accessible for youth and
adults with disabilities.

time at the new Skate N’ Scoot located in the

A disability awareness group that works to build
relationships and connections between the families and children with disabilities and Brandeis
students. Through dance, movement, songs,
games, and other social and recreational activities, Brandeis students form bonds with children
and their families while reaching out to the whole
Brandeis and Waltham community.
Also:
- One-on-one mentoring with a child with disabilities on social skills (e.g. play Frisbee, watching a
Brandeis basketball game, etc.) one hour per
week during an agreed upon by the volunteer and
the child's parents and is held on the Brandeis
campus.

Troop 250 goes camping each month during the
school year, and attends a week of summer camp
in July at the T.L. Storer Scout Reservation in Barnstead, NH.
Boy Scouts is a program for youth that builds
character, promotes good citizenship, and develops personal fitness through outdoor activities.
Troop 250 is an active troop with many activities
including monthly weekend camping trips. Past
activities include: bicycle riding in Nantucket,
whitewater rafting, snowshoeing, an 80 mile canoe trip in Maine and a 28 mile backpacking hike
through the White Mountains. For fun and adventure, Scouting is the place to be.

The scouting program has 3 specific objectives:

Venturing is a coed program offered by the Boy
Scouts for America for young men and women
who are at least 14 (and have completed the eight
grade) through 20 years of age. Venture Crew 250
is a “high adventure” oriented Crew, which offers
such activities as hiking, climbing, camping, bicycling, canoeing, and snowshoeing.
