TOOLS NEEDED
-Yourself and a strong friend / bumper jack.
( Don’t worry, we’re not calling you or your friend a “tool” )
- Socket set, Ratchet & Wrenches (metric & standard)
( ... more than likely metric for your rig, cause everything’s imported these days,
and standard for your new bad ass Made in USA bumper.
Road Armor thanks you for supporting the American Economy! )
- Common Sense, Tape Measure, and a bit of Patience
( And also a cold drink to celebrate afterwards )
GM has a coating on their frame that comes off pretty easily and makes a mess. So

STEP 2:
Uninstall OEM Bumper
• Park on level surface and Disconnect Positive Battery Terminal.
• Disconnect Factory license plate lights
*If your vehicle is equipped with factory back up sensors and/or trailer plug you will need to disconnect them.
• Uninstall the factory bumper saving all OEM hardware.
• Uninstall trailer plug from OEM bumper
Note - If you have a 2011 2500 / 3500 Short Bed you will need to lower the spare tire.
STEP 3:

Install Road Armor Bumper
On the trailer plug mount you will need to bend the small tab away as pointed out in the
photo. Photo 1
Install your trailer plug and turn the plug clockwise and you will feel it lock into place. If it
does not you may have done it backwards. Photo 2
Loosely fit brackets on frame using the factory bolts from the factory bumper. Photo 5 - 6
Install one 1/2” bolt in Road Armor bumper per side using retainer clips as shown in picture.
Photo 3 - 4
Wrap the corners of the bumper with soft material to protect bed from scratching.
• Carefully guide bumper onto brackets and snug down the hardware but not tight enough to
where you cannot move the bumper around.
• Square the bumper up with the bottom of the tail gate and the sides of the body. Be sure to
check clearance when opening tailgate (be cautious when doing this).
• Tighten all hardware down once the bumper is centered.
*If you have a factory trailer hitch there are cutouts in the bumper below the winch mount so you can bolt the bumper to the hitch for some extra support.
Note - if you have a 2011 2500 / 3500..
• Use the 14mm OEM bolt and supplied nut to bolt the frame to the hitch. Make sure the
bolt goes down into the frame so the threads are facing down and tighten. Photo 9
• Depending on the model of truck you may need to use the additional frame mount
plate so the mount sits parallel to the frame. Photo 7 - 8
• Install the bumper mount as shown in pictures using 1/2” hardware. You will need
someone that does not have a big forearm to push the 1/2” bolt through the frame
from the access hole in the frame. See picture 10 - 12
• Do not tighten down frame bracket hardware.
• Continue with step 3
• Once bumper is tight crank spare tire into place. Picture 13

washer.
