A good pair of comfortable, supportive shoes is
all you need! However, please dress appropriately
for the weather and bring along a bottle of
water, hat and sun cream if it’s hot.
Want to volunteer?
We recognise and appreciate the value of
volunteers and the role they play in local
communities. As well as being very rewarding,
volunteering can have great benefits for you.

What is Walk4Life?
Walk4Life is a programme of short, led, walks
operating across County Durham.
They are a great opportunity for you to make
your first steps towards being active and simply
maintaining a healthy lifestyle. So whether you
are recovering from illness or just want to be
more active, Walk4life is for you.
Walk4Life have a series of free, short,
led health walks taking place on a
weekly basis across the Dales in the
following areas:
Middleton -in-Teesdale
Mondays, 2 - 3pm
• I nformation on existing walk groups across
County Durham
• Trained walk leaders
• Volunteering opportunities in your local
community
• Safe, risk assessed routes that take place from
the stated venue and change route every week.
Routes may include slopes, steps, uneven
surfaces and stiles.
• It’s sociable, free and on your doorstep
• Walking is the easiest and most accessible form of physical activity
• Walking is good for your bones and muscles

to a total of 150 minutes of moderate activity
each week, such as brisk walking. At first, start
walking gently and gradually build up so that
you are breathing a little faster, but still able to
