If you think that you are experiencing altitude sickness,
try some of these tips to alleviate your symptoms:
Reduce intake of alcohol, caffeine, and salty foods.
Drink more water than you normally do to stay well hydrated.
Get plenty of rest.
Slow Down! Your heart is working harder at this elevation than what you are accustomed to.
If symptoms persist or become severe, seek medical attention.
Other high altitude helpful hints:
Wear sunscreen! You receive 30% more ultraviolet rays at this altitude than at sea level.
Wear sunglasses with ultraviolet protection even during cloudy or snowy days.
For the first few days at this altitude, eat high carbohydrate meals, limiting fat and protein.
Keep warm, dry, wear layers, and be sure your cloths and footwear do not interfere with your blood circulation (i.e. too
tight).
