Enough faith to share with others!
You know that the past few weeks we have been exploring what it means to have an Easter Sunday
faith in a Good Friday world. Every time we listen to the latest news report we’re reminded that we live
in a Good Friday world. (Someone recently told me that the best thing they’ve done for their mental
health has been limiting the amount of network news that they view.) Often this world feels more like
Good Friday than Easter Sunday.
The good news for us as Christians is that we are Easter people. Remember the powerful message from
Ephesians 1:19-20. The same power that raised Christ Jesus from the dead long ago is at work in you
today! Let’s pray that the Holy Spirit will empower us to live with an Easer Sunday faith.
So far we have considered the example of Thomas, whose faith was very authentic in spite of his doubts; Mary
Magdalene, who had faith even when her heart was broken; Peter, who had faith even when he didn’t have a
clue. This coming Sunday we will consider Philip, who had enough faith to share with others!
People all around us are looking for something to believe in. There is a persistent longing to reach out to
Someone. They want to know if there is a God who has anything to do with them or to say to them. In the face
of such questions and longings of the heart, you and I have some good news to share!
Striving to be Faithful,
Dr. Ray Crawford

Area Students going on Cultural and Painting Mission.
I am taking a small group of Spanish students on a cultural excursion to Costa Rica, May 28th-June 3rd. We will be staying
with Pastor Victor Vargas at our sister church in Tuetal, Costa Rica. While there, we will be doing a painting project for the
church. If you would like to help us with the cost of this project, please write a check to FUMC and put Costa Rica painting
project in the memo line.
Thank you and God bless, Bethany Stiteler

Dear Friends,
Redeemer Lutheran is having this special dinner on Saturday, April 27 @ 6:00 pm for 3 families. In case anyone would know them, the
families are the Blanskis, Tilidetzkes, and the Karsts (now attending First United Methodist). We think it is worthwhile to do this as an
expression of Christian caring. The funds raised will be used in their fight against cancer.
Thanks for letting me pass this along to you!

Marriage and Family Enrichment Committee News
Plans are being made for several special marriage enrichment events in the coming months for Claremore FUMC couples. The first will be a
series of dates for couples based on the book, “Ten Great Dates to Energize Your Marriage”. Couples will enjoy an evening alone focusing on
enriching their marriages. Watch for details coming soon.
Another marriage enrichment event is being offered by United Methodist Marriage Encounter. The website states, “The focus of Worldwide
Marriage Encounter is on communication between husband and wife. It is an opportunity to spend a weekend together away from the
distractions and the tensions of everyday life and to concentrate on each other as a couple. It's not a retreat, nor a marriage clinic, nor group
sensitivity. It's a unique approach aimed at revitalizing Christian Marriage.” The next weekend is being offered on July 26-28, 2013 in Wichita,
KS. The application fee is $50 per couple. For more information, see their website at www.encounter.org or contact
Bill or Linda Polson at 918.342.3700.
Next fall the committee will be offering a Couples Retreat that will provide a weekend of fun, fellowship, and “focus”
centered on enriching marriages. Watch for dates and details this summer.
