RESEARCH
My research group currently has 15 graduate students and more than 12 undergraduates. The projects
are mainly funded by COLCIENCIAS in three different modes: Co-funded with private institutions,
non-co-funded and through the Ph.D. program. There are several students that are funded by the
Universidad Nacional de Colombia Research Fund and the Faculty of Mines Ph.D. and M.Sc. tuition
grant.
Projects that are in collaboration with the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of
Chicago are funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), the National Institute of Health
(NIH), the Department of Energy (DOE) and the Keck Foundation. These collaborations in the
USA support co-advised students and postdocts in Juan de Pablo and Dave Schwartz’ groups. They
primarily provide funding for travel expenses, conferences and monthly expenses when colombian
students visit US.
