The B.A. in Government and International Affairs is intended for students
wishing to do graduate research afterwards, as well as for careers in practical
fields – such as domestic politics and diplomacy, international business, and
intelligence analysis – anything which demands profound analytical skills
coupled with impeccable foreign language fluency.
The course is multi-disciplinary, reflecting the need for public leaders who
can reach across specialist fields to find more innovative solutions to difficult
policy challenges.
The course is practical, responding directly to the demand for policy experts
who can also employ their practical skills as negotiators, financial managers
and communicators to deliver successful results.
The course is global in that students learn how policy is made, implemented
and evaluated in governments and corporations around the world, and at
local, regional and global levels.

TUITION FEE, DEADLINES AND AGE REQUIREMENTS
Tuition fee: approx. 330 000 RUR (or 8300 EUR, or 11100 USD, depending on
exchange rate on the day of payment).
Deadline for application: July 31
Eligible applicants will be invited to interviews by email if necessary.
Admission results publication: early August 2013.
Age requirements: admission to MGIMO-University is based upon academic
merit and potential. Since MGIMO bears a responsibility for safeguarding
children under Russian laws, appropriate senior staff will be notified of an
offer of admission made to anyone who will be younger than 18 years of age
at the time of registration as MGIMO student.

POLITICS AND ECONOMICS IN EURASIA
M.A. IN POLITICAL SCIENCE
The two-year Master’s Degree Program in Political Science at MGIMO University is
designed to meet the needs of rising public service leaders, including those in
domestic and international government agencies and non-profit organizations
by offering contemporary, first-hand information about Russia and Eurasia from
the Russian perspective.
The program provides rigorous on-campus training in political science concepts
and policy analysis, preparing degree candidates for successful careers as
equipping them with organizational skills, and self-confidence necessary to
assume leadership positions in an increasingly complex public service
environment. 20 students are accepted into the program every year.
The program is taught entirely in English. The academic year begins with an
intensive program in politics, international relations and economics. If
candidates’ command of Russian is adequate, during the academic year they can
elect additional courses from the list of those, available to Russian students in
the Russian language Master’s programs in International Affairs and Political
Science.
Some courses are organized in the form of lecture-discussions; others are
seminars where students present their papers for group discussion or
workshops based on field research with participation of visiting experts, and
group reports.

RUSSIAN CULTURE AND THE ARTS: TRADITIONS AND MODERNITY
M.A. IN CULTURAL STUDIES
The two-year Master’s Degree Program in
Cultural Studies (under the aegis of UNESCO)
is designed to provide comprehensive
understanding of Russian culture and the
arts. The course explores the relationship
among Russia’s art, society and media and
Russian people’s identity as well. The goal of
the program is to ensure broad and in-depth
knowledge of Russia’s cultural past and
present.
The program draws on the resources of
Moscow and provides rigorous on-campus
training in Russian history, culture and arts.
Alongside lectures and workshops, the
Program includes visits to historical and
cultural sites in Central and Southern Russia.
The program will be especially useful for
those fascinated by Russian Culture and
interested in learning Russian language. The Program envisages a unique course
of Russian language and linguistics by the best MGIMO instructors (students will
have 10 academic hours of Russian a week).
At Russian Culture and the Arts lectures are delivered by both renowned
MGIMO faculty members and professorial lecturers from the vast Russian

WORLD POLITICS
Russian-French Dual Master’s Degree Program in cooperation with
Sciences Po, Paris
The Dual Master’s Degree Program MGIMO-University – Sciences Po was
established in 2005. It inherits experience and expertise of the first FrenchRussian Master’s program in International Affairs founded back in 1994, when it
was the first Master’s Program offered at MGIMO. The Double Degree Master’s
Program ushers in a new level of partnership between the two Universities and
offers innovative approach to education in the international relations field.
The first year of the program takes place at Sciences Po, Paris, where students
join the School of International Affairs /PSIA/ and their Master’s Program in
Finance and Strategy. The second year is held at MGIMO-University, Moscow
where students complete a tailor-made curriculum based on the Master’s
Programs “World Politics”, “International Affairs and Transnational business”
and “International Energy”.
At the end of the two-year period graduates who successfully meet program
requirements are awarded two Master’s Degree Diplomas:
 MGIMO-University Master’s Diploma
 Sciences Po, Paris Master’s Diploma
Besides, they receive a Joint Diploma Supplement with all courses and ECTS
listed.

Russian-German Dual Master’s Degree Program in cooperation with
Free University of Berlin, Germany
The Dual Master’s Degree Program “World Politics” in
International
Affairs
between
MGIMO-University
and Freie Universität Berlin (FUB), University. Humboldt
(Berlin) and University of Potsdam was established in
2006 as a part of a European cooperation project among
higher education institutions.
The program is based on the Master’s Degree Program
"International Relations" taught at Freie Universität
Berlin and a Master’s Degree Program "World Politics" taught at MGIMOUniversity. Successful graduates receive two equal Master’s Diploma –
from Freie Universität Berlin and MGIMO-University.
The duration of the programs is two academic years. The first year the whole
group of both Russian and German students spends in Berlin and the second
year in Moscow.

Russian-Italian Dual Master’s Degree Program in cooperation with
University of Florence, Italy
The Dual Master’s Degree Program “World Politics” in
International Affairs was established in September
2011 as an important milestone in the long-standing
cooperation between MGIMO-University and the
Faculty of Political Science of the University of
Florence.
The Program offers three tuition free spots both from
Russian and Italian sides. The duration of the
programs is two academic years. The first year both
Russian and Italian participants study in Florence and the second year in
Moscow.

The Dual Master’s Degree Program
MGIMO-University – University of Geneva
was established in 2012.
The first year of the program takes
place at MGIMO-University, where the
students have to fulfil a tailor-made
curriculum based on the international
Master’s Program “Governance and
Global Affairs” taught entirely in
English (see above). The second year is
held at the University of Geneva on the
basis
of
the
“International
Organizations Master of Business
Administration” (10 months + 3
months internship).
At the end of the two-year period graduates are awarded two Master’s Degree
Diplomas:
M.A. in International Affairs from MGIMO and
MBA from the University of Geneva.

INTERNATIONAL MANAGEMENT
Russian-French Dual Master’s Degree Program together with
ICN Business School, Nancy
The Dual Master’s Degree Program was
designed to train experts in business
environment in France, EU and Russia
by providing joint study courses and
one full semester in the country of the
Partner Institutions.
The Program aims to train global
managers with specific knowledge of
the Russian and French markets and
cultures and to develop a range of qualifications recognized by employees
worldwide, and is geared to managers with international business profile and
knowledge of foreign languages. Graduates are capable to do business and fulfil
managerial functions in companies engaged in international economic and
business activities as well as conducting research in the field of international
business and business administration.
The core courses are covered in the 1st semester at MGIMO, the second
semester is provided by ICN Business School with a focus on doing business in
France, negotiations techniques, financial management and operations. In
France students are also offered an opportunity to choose specialization path.
The third and forth semesters are provided by MGIMO with a final (state) exam
and theses defence. An internship is a part of the study program. Students have
an opportunity to take part in the field work in France during the summer. The
project work is compulsory and is carried out during the 4th semester.
Tuition emphasizes in-depth studies of the most sophisticated management
techniques practiced by European companies and comprehensive analysis of
international business environment. The program meets international standards
in Management.

Diplomacy of MGIMO of Russia possesses significant experience in the field of
training high-level personnel for international energy co-operation, leading
major international oil and gas projects, playing a major role in energy
diplomacy and geopolitics. University of Nordland Graduate School of Business
is a recognized center for oil and gas business education. The curriculum
balances fundamental academic concepts and effective practical training.
The MBA Program is run in cooperation with JSC “Oil Company ROSNEFT”,
Russia’s largest oil producer and one of the world’s leading energy companies
that provides trainees for the MBA Program and pays all expenses for the OC
“Students”. The program meets international standards and is customized to
meet OC “ROSNEFT” requirements.
The joint Russian-Norwegian Master’s Program meets the highest of educational
standards of both countries and of the Bologna System. The duration of studies
is two years. During the first and fourth semesters the master’s candidates study
at their home universities, the second semester is hosted by the Nordland
University, Norway, and the third semester – by MIEP MGIMO.

The Russian-Swedish Dual Master’s Degree program comes into force in
September 2013, awarding students two Master Degrees within two years of
study: Master of Art in Management, from MGIMO and Master of Science in
Business Administration from Linnaeus University. The key goal of the program
is to increase the number of qualified graduates in the area of Management and
Business Administration.
Linnaeus University strives to be one of the leaders nationally, known for its
strong international profile. It offers a rigorous educational experience due to its
close relations with both national and transnational corporations and
practically-oriented approach to an academic process. The cornerstone of the
joint program is an unprecedented combination of empirical research on
campus and internship in private sector.
The program provides students with an unprecedented opportunity to choose
one of three specializations during the first year of study at Linnaeus University:

The Russian-Italian Master’s Program “Oil and Gas Sector Economics and
International Energy Policy Issues” provides a unique opportunity for Russian
and Italian undergraduates to develop expertise in modeling and forecasting
economic development in the energy sector branches. Successful graduates will
be awarded a “Master of Economics in World Energy” degree from MGIMO and a
“Master (Laurea Specialistica) of Economics and Sociology” degree from the
Bocconi University, with appropriate national diplomas.
All courses are taught in English. During the first year the students will be
