Visit the fabulous Palaces and admire the stunning architecture. Continue on this scenic coastal route down to Tuscany and arrive in the lovely leafy spa town of Montecatini Terme where we check in at the elegant 4 star Ercolini e Savi Hotel for two nights. Day 5 (50km) Full day at leisure in historic Florence by train (train cost not included) with a half day walking tour. One of the most attractive and compact Italian cities of art, Florence is a joy to explore on foot. During the afternoon continue on to Rome and the Frascati hills, arriving at the welcoming 4 star Villa Vecchia (an ex-Convent, located in the Frascati countryside) for the next three nights. Day 7 (25km) Full day in Rome with a half day guided city tour. Visit the Colosseum, wander through the Roman Forum, shop around the Spanish Steps and marvel at the Vatican. Light lunch with wine tasting at the superb winery of Cantina Santa Benedetta followed by time at leisure in Frascati itself during the afternoon. Day 9 (403km) Depart Frascati and drive north to the lovely red brick hill top town of Citta della Pieve in Umbria, with a blow out lunch at Trattoria da Bruno (unlimited wine), from there cross the appenines and with a scenic drive up to the very Italian gastronomic capital of Bologna.
