The Therasense FreeStyle Blood Glucose
Monitor automatically uploads its memory
to the Telehealth Gateway, simply by
plugging the cable into the device.
Uploading the information normally takes
less than 10 seconds. It works the same
way with the AccuCheck and OneTouch
devices from Roche and LifeScan.
During the MEDICA
show in Düsseldorf in
November 2004, RTX
introduced the second
generation of the
Wireless Telehealth
Gateway for remote
patient monitoring

[ RTX introduces second generation
Now with RS-232 interface
Designed for home monitoring
RTX’s plan is to add more devices to the
RTX Wireless Telehealth Gateway, and
especially to add a range of commonly used
Blood Glucose Monitors from global leading
brands. To do this, the company has introduced the second generation of the RTX3320
PSTN Wireless Telehealth Gateway with a
RS-232 port for serial communication to a
range of Patient Monitoring devices.
The RTX Wireless Telehealth Gateway is
designed for home monitoring, e-health
and remote disease management applications. The device provides immediate
benefits to patients by utilising advanced
wireless and Internet technologies. These
have been carefully implemented for
seamless and automated operation with a
minimum need for patient interaction.
CUSTOMISE YOUR OWN GATEWAY
OR TELEMONITORING STATION
]
Why start from scratch, when you can get
a headstart in the development of your own
Gateway or Telemonitoring Station by
working together with RTX?
If you have a need for a connectivity device from a wireless or wired
device, the RTX Telehealth Gateway is a good starting point. RTX
can customise software, hardware and mechanics according to your
specifications.

The RTX Wireless Telehealth Gateway is available in two different models: The RTX3320 with
a built-in PSTN 56K fixed landline modem and the RTX3350 with a built-in GSM/GPRS wireless modem with internal antenna. Via the global Internet, the Wireless Telehealth Gateway
automatically uploads patient information to a webserver.

As a result, the patients experience improved quality of life, convenience and
compliance in their daily monitoring.
FDA 510(k) clearance
for US market
RTX Healthcare announced in August
2004 that the U.S. Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) had issued a 510(k)
Premarket Notification Clearance for the
first generation of the RTX3320 PSTN
Wireless Telehealth Gateway without RS-232 capability.

What is your experience
of designing wireless products?
Bringing poor working products to the
market can ruin the good reputation your
company has built up over many years.
If you are not experienced in designing
wireless products, it might be a wise
decision to partner with an experienced
company.
With more than 10 years of experience in
wireless designs, RTX offers unique and

very powerful design capabilities in all
wireless design aspects.
RTX offers flexibility:
Choose the cooperation model
that fits your requirements
The majority of our customers either have
their own production facilities or rely on
external production, so RTX only designs
and tests the product. Some customers also
come to RTX with a full product specification, while others draw on our experience.

RTX SIGNS CONTRACT WITH NORTH AMERICAN
MEDICAL DEVICE MANUFACTURER
]
November 2004. RTX Healthcare has signed a turnkey
development contract with a North American Medical
Device manufacturer to design and develop a wireless
and handheld medical device.
The device will be used for remote
patient monitoring and diagnostics,
and will have the size and shape of
a mobile phone and include a
graphical display. RTX is to
deliver a turnkey product design
including electronics, software and
mechanical engineering. Due to
confidentiality reasons, the
customer's name and detailed
information about the application
cannot be disclosed.

Olympia Cordless DUALphone
Wireless Telephone
Line Extender
With an annual volume of more
than 300,000 units, the Wireless
Telephone Line Extender is
currently one of the best selling
RTX products. The device replaces the regular phone line
for example between a set top
box and the phone plug on the
wall with a wireless solution.
The product is distributed
through various channels including the Australian satellite
TV provider Foxtel.

RTX has developed the Cordless
DUALphone – the first cordless Internet
phone on the market using Skype™. The
phone is a wholly RTX owned product, although it is marketed in the
Olympia brand name.
The Olympia Cordless DUALphone is a cordless phone that can be
connected to a normal phone socket and a USB port on a PC. The
display shows whether your friends who also use Skype™ are online.
If they are, all you need to do is press the appropriate green button
and talk to them for free – no matter where they are in the world.
GSM phone
In recent years, RTX has developed a number of
GSM/GPRS and TD-SCDMA handsets for the European
and Far-Eastern cellular handset markets. The handset
shown in this picture is a ready-to-go GSM handset
developed in close co-operation with Vertical Products
in Austria.

Not everybody knows what RTX Healthcare stands for, and often the
best way to make an RTX corporate introduction, is to provide
some examples of projects and products already made by RTX.
[RTX Inside ]
AT&T 2.4GHz
cordless home phone
With the development of more than
250 different DECT and 2.4 GHz
cordless phones over a period of
about 10 years, RTX is the world’s
most experienced design company
in cordless phones. The picture
above shows an AT&T cordless
phone developed by RTX.
The phrase “RTX Inside” is often used
among RTX colleagues, but the product
brand name “RTX” is not known in the
market at all. However, the product examples below give some brilliant examples of
known products in the market that are
originally designed and developed by
RTX. Some of them are owned by RTX,
even though they are marketed in third
party brand names.
Nonin Medical, AVANT® 4000
Powermeter reading
over GSM
For the North American Medical
Device Manufacturer Nonin Medical,
RTX developed the wireless technology
for the world’s first Bluetooth pulseoximeter AVANT® 4000.
In cooperation with RTX,
Nesa is one of the first Danish
companies to start installing
remote-read electricity meters.
The meters communicate with
the power companies via text
messages and will save Nesa
money on manual meter
reading. Furthermore, the
electricity meters are expected
to have an effect on power
production, saving the power
companies a lot of money.
Agilent Technologies
Bluetooth Tester
As part of an OEM contract, RTX supplies the Agilent
Bluetooth tester to Agilent Technologies. The Bluetooth
tester is developed and produced by RTX.
