YAS Forum Update
You are a valued Member of Yorkshire
Ambulance Service NHS Trust (YAS)

confirm that our YAS Forum
elections have now taken place
and were a great success.
This is a very exciting time for YAS and
I look forward to working with our
YAS Forum Members to develop
local health services to best meet
the needs of the communities
they represent.

To welcome them and provide them with a better
understanding of how Yorkshire Ambulance
Service operates both strategically and operationally,
I have arranged for them to receive Members’
Training during May and June. This will give them
the opportunity to meet myself and other
members of the Trust Board and learn more about
the Trust and the role of the YAS Forum. I have
also arranged for them to visit our Emergency
Operations and NHS 111 Call Centres.

The inaugural YAS Forum Meeting will take
place on Tuesday 8 July 2014 at the Wilkes Suite,
Holiday Inn, Barnsley Road, Dodworth, Barnsley,
S75 3JT, from 5.00pm to 7.00pm, where there will
be members of the Trust Board present. If you

Forthcoming Trust Board Meetings Held in Public
The Trust Board meets in public every two months. All meetings start at 11.00am and last for
approximately three hours. Prior to the Board, there is a presentation between 10.15am and
10.45am, the subject of which is announced nearer the date.

Membership Recruitment
Ali Richardson, Foundation
Trust (FT) Membership
Manager, joined YAS on
18 June 2012. Prior to
joining YAS, Ali worked at
York Teaching Hospital NHS
Foundation Trust for six years.
During June 2014 the FT Team will be hosting a
National Volunteer Road show throughout North
and East Yorkshire. Ali said: “We will be visiting a
different place each day with the Community
Medical Unit. It is a great opportunity for the Trust
to thank our volunteers, raise public awareness of
our services, recruit new Members and promote
our free First Aid Awareness Courses.”
During her time at YAS, Ali has been very busy
organising and attending events to recruit
Members, including hospital open days, college
fresher fairs, local fetes and galas. Ali continues to
work very closely with colleagues from our Patient
Transport Service, Community Resilience and
Commercial and Education Training Teams to
promote our FT Membership.
We currently have almost 6,000 Public Members
but we are always looking for more. We also have
over 4,000 Staff Members. Please encourage your
family and friends to sign up as Members too,
either at the events highlighted or by visiting our
website www.yas.nhs.uk
Free First Aid Awareness Training for Members
Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust is
providing first aid training for YAS Members
across the region.
These courses are free to all Members and last
for two and a half hours. They cover
cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and
also show how to treat the most common
emergencies such as a heart attack and stroke.
Your friends and family can also attend
the courses by becoming Members at
www.yas.nhs.uk or by telephoning
01924 584567 for an application form.
Places are limited and require a minimum
of six people per session.
