USSDxTM
USSDxTM makes it possible for your high value
customers to access existing USSD services with
their Smart devices over IP including Tablets (Android,
WP7/8 & iPads), Smart Phones, Nokia S40 and PCs.
It is a powerful solution that uses and extends the
lifespan of existing USSD infrastructure as Mobile
Network Operators (MNO) deploy 3G, IMS and LTE
Networks - where traditional USSD is either not
supported on the network or IP-only devices do not
support USSD natively.
Expose ALL your existing USSD services over IP to
your subscriber through your own custom built app or
simply use Balefyre’s own generic emDial TM app.
USSDxTM also introduces OneTouchUSSD TM or Smart
USSD menus which significantly enhance the user
experience by eliminating the need to memorize
complicated service codes e.g. *123*4567*891011#

How It Works
USSDxTM Server – Balefyre’s USSDxTM Server receives USSD requests
over IP and converts them for handling by an MNO’s existing USSD
gateway. USSDxTM acts an adapter with IP on one side and SS7 or
Sigtran on the other. Services that already exist on the USSD gateway
are seamlessly exposed via your chosen smart app (see below).
Connect to USSDxTM via:
1.Your own mobile app, or
2.emDial TM – Balefyre’s generic mobile app
USSD requests are sent over IP to the USSDxTM server for conversion
and passed on to any existing USSD gateway regardless of whether
the USSDxTM functionality is incorporated into the MNO’s own app
or if the MNO simply chooses to brand Balefyre’s existing emDial TM
app. With the introduction of OneTouchUSSD TM , Smart device users
are able to interface with traditional USSD applications in an app-like
manner. USSDxTM client libraries and emDial TM are available for iOS
(iPad), Android (Tablet and Phone), WP 7&8 and Nokia S40.

Recharge Your Tablet
The absence of dialers on tablets has complicated
the purchase of data. High Value Customers used to
accessing recharge and balance enquiry services via
their phones require a similar, if not better, experience
on these high end devices.
With USSDxTM tablet users can now use traditional pinbased voucher redemption methods to recharge their
tablets in an app-like manner.
Expose All USSD Services
Access all other self-care USSD applications (including
balance enquiry) with our OneTouchUSSD TM interface.
USSD Over LTE
LTE does not support USSD in it’s current form and will
require MNOs to adapt their self-care service interface
for customers to suit the constraints of the new
network.
USSDxTM provides an interface for USSD requests to
pass from IP based networks (3G, IMS and LTE) to
existing USSD servers that still reside on the traditional
telephony network.
This allows MNOs to extend the lifespan of their existing
USSD infrastructure while seamlessly migrating into
LTE. USSDxTM not only provides support for handheld
devices but also for Modems and Dongles over LTE. .
USSD Over IP
No More * ’s and #’s
Balefyre’s OneTouchUSSD TM smart interface allows
MNOs to map menus on screens to existing USSD
applications without the need for the user to remember
complicated service codes or follow the cumbersome
“reply/Send” experience of traditional USSD.
The user experience is further enhanced by the ability of
MNOs to brand the client.
Loyalty and Reward programmes are now only a single
touch away. Service discovery is made simpler. Yet,
none of the back-office services need to be recreated or
duplicated.
Mobile Money Transfers
The USSDxTM client libraries and emDial TM incorporates the
ability to link your existing USSD-based Mobile Money
Transfer Service to the device’s native contact book i.e.
Send mobile money directly from the Contact Book.
Subscribers will no longer be required to remember the
contact number of the potential recipient, which in turn
diminishes the opportunity for human input errors and
reduces the need to reverse transactions made in error.
Promote Data Bundles Via Banners
emDial TM provides MNOs the opportunity to utilise the
header and footer space of the User Interface to stream
both rich text and plain text banners to promote data
bundles, specials and other promotional information to
the user.
