GREETINGS
As Premier of the Province of
British Columbia, I am pleased
to welcome everyone to the
11th Annual CelticFest, here in
Vancouver.
I think it’s wonderful to see
your community gathering
in celebration of its culture
and history and are sharing
that pride with others. The incredible cultural
diversity of our province makes it the interesting
place that it is today. This year’s festival and St.
Patrick’s Day Parade, with local and international
artists showcasing Celtic talent, promises to be
an exciting two weeks.
I’d like to thank all the organizers, volunteers
and artists for putting together yet another
unforgettable festival and parade. Without
your hard work and dedication, none of this
would be possible.
This is a wonderful way to bring the
community together. I am sure everyone will
have an amazing time discovering their inner
Celt with friends and family!
Welcome
to
CelticFest
Vancouver 2015!
Our Government knows
how important arts and culture
are to the strength of our
communities, our identity, and
our economy. As we approach
Canada’s
150th
birthday
in 2017, this is the perfect
time to celebrate everything that makes this
such a remarkable country—including the
rich traditions of the Celtic lands, which are
an important part of Canada’s own cultural
heritage. This is why we are proud to support
this exciting event that brings people of all ages
and backgrounds together in a celebration of
community spirit and Celtic culture.
On behalf of Prime Minister Stephen Harper
and the Government of Canada, I want to
thank the many volunteers, participants, and
partners who have worked so hard to ensure
this festival’s success.a
The Honourable Shelly Glover
Christy Clark, Premier
As one of its founding
sponsors, the Downtown
Vancouver
Business
Improvement
Association
continues to proudly welcome
CelticFest
Vancouver
downtown
for
its
11th
Anniversary. This festival,
which attracts over 200,000 attendees
annually, has firmly established a strong Celtic
tradition that appeals to lovers of music, dance,
performance, libations and crafts.
CelticFest Vancouver is a wonderful way
to celebrate the diversity, excitement and
uniqueness of Vancouver. It's great for families
of all ages with many free events including the
St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 15th. Best of
all- most of festival programming takes place
in the heart of the city – downtown Vancouver.
Enjoy all the festival has to offer.
On behalf of my colleagues
on Vancouver City Council
and the citizens of Vancouver,
I want to extend my sincere
best wishes for a successful
2015 CelticFest Vancouver.
The
CelticFest
is
a
wonderful opportunity for
artists and audiences to participate in artistic
expression ranging from music and dance
to workshops and a parade. The festival is a
perfect blend of art and culture that showcases
the multiculturalism we are proud of in our city.
This festival has become a favourite for all and
allows us to experience a variety of cultures.
I want to thank all the volunteers and
staff involved in the CelticFest Vancouver
celebrations for all their time and energies
spent to organize the festivities. I hope
everyone enjoys the festival.

Welcome To CelticFest Vancouver!
As we enter into our 11th Festival celebrating all
things Celtic, we hope that you are able to join
us. Whether you are a seasoned festival vet,
or looking to join in the festivities for the first
time – welcome!

Missing: Harry Cussen, Daniel Tinnelly
CelticFest Vancouver is a non-profit society
that is all about the Celtic community. We
have so many partners and stakeholders who
contribute to the success of the festival, that
we realize that CelticFest Vancouver belongs
to everyone.
Over the course of this 12-day celebration,
we’ll offer you a wide range of music, theatre,
dance, and other entertainment. There are
kid- and family-friendly activities, most of
them free. Make sure to visit the Celtic Village
on the March 14 & 15 weekend, where you’ll
experience great live Celtic music on Doolin’s
Music Stage, amazing acts at the Celtic Kids’
Corner, and an array of food and craft vendors.
At the Tom Lee Music Hall you can enjoy live
dance, workshops, and a play, all free. Mark
your calendar for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade
on Sunday, March 15 – an annual fun, free
spectacular procession you don’t want to miss!
Our CelticFest management and staff, as well
as the hundreds of volunteers, step up every
year with great enthusiasm. We have partners
from all levels of government who recognize
that CelticFest brings cultural and economic
benefits to Vancouver. Our corporate
sponsors know that they too are partners in
promoting our Celtic heritage. We are grateful
for their continuing confidence and support in
our work.
The festival’s ticketed concerts and shows
offer lots of amazing talent. Solo artists, duos,
bands, a choir, dancers, a ground-breaking
theatrical production, and whisky tasting
sessions are on offer – there’s something for
everyone!
Our Board of Directors provides ongoing
guidance and support. Our artists deliver
magnificently every time! And you, the
audience, are why we do this. Take a bow
and enjoy!
We are excited to be part of the team bringing
this amazing festival to you, and look forward
to seeing you on the streets of the Celtic
Village, at a concert or workshop, or enjoying
a celebratory beverage at one of the festival’s
participating pubs. Have a great time!

Alan Doyle
Friday • March 6 • 8:00pm
Vogue Theatre
Actor, newly-minted best-selling author,
producer, Alan Doyle is likely best known
as the lead singer for Newfoundland’s
beloved Great Big Sea. The guy can belt
out folk and rock tunes with an energy,
charisma, and voice like no other!
The Pogues

The Imperial
Some of Vancouver’s finest musicians perform
the songs of one of the world’s most-loved bands!
He’s on tour for So Let’s Go, a rousing
offering with an underlying theme of
optimism, much like Doyle himself:
“We’re lucky to be here, so let’s make the
most of it.”
Shane MacGowan and The Pogues’
have had a massive impact on the music
scene, influencing musicians across
all genres. MacGowan’s poetry has
resonated with young and old alike for 30
years and their songs have been covered
by hundreds of artists worldwide.
Come celebrate the kick-off of
Vancouver’s Celtic season with one
of Canada’s most treasured musicians
and storytellers.
Tonight, we celebrate their brilliance and
their music. Come hear some of your
favourite Pogues’ tunes, from If I should
Fall from Grace with God to Rainy Night
in Soho, and more – sung and played by
a few of your favourite local musicians.
