§ Step 1 – Verification of Equipment

§ Step 2 – Determining the Placement of the Dish and
Cable Run to PC
1. Go to:

• ENTER YOUR ZIP CODE - HIT ?
• HIT CALCULATE
• RECEIVE AZIMUTH AND ELEVATION
THE AZIMUTH VALUE IS THE POSITION WHERE THE SATELLITE IS
LOCATED AT FROM YOUR COMPASS.
2. Walk the property with a compass looking for a clear and
unobstructed view to the sky.
3. Verify the type of structure the dish will be attached too.
4. Verify which exterior and interior walls need to be penetrated
by the cable.

Step 3 – Assembly of Satellite Dish
1. Lay out all parts included in the Satellite Dish box.

2. Lay the dish flat to ensure it is true and not out of shape.
3. Attach the left and right reflector brackets and hand tighten
ONLY.
4. Secure them with 4 (¼” x ½” round head bolts and ¼“ hex
nuts).

5. Assemble LNBF Mast Bracket using 2 (¼” x 2” round head
bolts and ¼” hex nuts) on the sides; and 2 (¼” x 7/8” round
head bolts with ¼” hex nuts) on the end of the bracket.
6. Attach to the dish using 2 (¼” x 1” round head bolts and ¼”
hex nuts) on top and bottom; and 1 (¼” x 1” bolt and ¼” hex
nut) on end of LNBF Bracket to secure LNBF after dish is
mounted.

7. Tighten all nuts and bolts with 7/16” ratchet wrench.
8. Insert plastic covers at ends of LNBF Bracket.
9. Set aside and work on installing the Mast Bracket.

Step 4 – Attachment of Mast Bracket to Wall on
Structure
1. Determine a smooth surface with clear view of satellite (refer
to compass setting).
2. If wooden wall studs are available, drill ¼” pilot hole through
upper left hole in bracket with wood bit.
3. Using a torpedo level, MAKE SURE THE BRACKET IS
PERFECTLY LEVEL AND PLUMB.
4. Continue to drill holes, and insert 4 (¼” x 1 ½” lag bolts).
5. If brick wall or block wall is available, drill 5/16” pilot hole
through upper left hole in bracket with masonry bit.
6. Using a torpedo level, MAKE SURE THE BRACKET IS
PERFECTLY LEVEL AND PLUMB.

7. Continue to drill holes, and insert 4 (5/16” x 1 ½” red head
anchors).

8. Attach 45-degree pole using 1 (¼” x 2 ¼” hex head cap bolt
with ¼” hex nut) through bracket and pole. Hand tighten.
9. Using the torpedo level adjust pole so that the vertical
section is level and plumb.

10. Attach clamp and side brackets using 1 (5/16” x 3” hex
screw with 5/16” hex nut and 2(lag bolts for either wood or
concrete as required.
11. Confirm level and plumb on pole with torpedo level and
tighten.

Step 5 – Installing a Ground Pole – (If Needed)
1. Purchase a steel pipe 6 feet in length and 1 5/8 in diameter.
2.
If possible have it cut and retain the threaded end.

3. Dig hole in ground approximately 3 feet deep and 8” round.
4. Insert pole with flange on bottom and fill with cement.
5. Place a few bolts (facing up) in the flange to prevent the pole
from spinning.

6. Insert block at ground surface for extra support.
7. MAKE SURE THE POLE IS PERFECTLY LEVEL AND
PLUMB.

Step 6 – Installing a Non-Penetrating Roof Mount - (If
Needed)
1. iSat DOES NOT SUPPORT ANY ROOF PENETRATION.
2. Attach the Mast Bracket to the cinder blocks with 4 (5/16” x
2” bolts, flat washers and lock washers with the 5/16” hex
nuts) and 1 (5/16” x 2” bolts, flat washers and lock washers
with the 5/16” hex nuts) on each of the side brackets.
3. Use additional washers as needed for leveling and plumbing
of mount.
4. Use a minimum of 3 blocks on each leg.
5. If available, channel the blocks in angle iron
6. Set the blocks on 30 pound felt paper to prevent slipping.
7. Run galvanized wire through the blocks for additional
prevention of movement.
8. Place sand bags (50 lb. each) or cement bags on the blocks
for extra weight.
9. Attach plumber’s tape or non-rusting wire from the base of
the mount to any permanent roof structure for additional
security.

Step 7 – Placing Satellite Dish on the Pole
1. Carefully lift the dish assembly and place it over the pole so
it slips down.
2. Slightingly tighten the bolts.
3. Attach the LNBF to the bracket and position the “F”
connector at 7 o’clock for AMC-6.

5. Proceed to the rear of the dish and set the elevation
6. Tighten the bolts so the dish won’t slip, but you can still
move it for fine-tuning.

Step 8 – Dish Alignment and Locking in Signal
1. Using a Signal Level Meter or Spectrum Analyzer
a) Position the dish towards the correct
compass setting. (Should be pointed
closely to a dish aimed at DirecTV or Dish
Network if available)
b) Confirm the elevation setting on the
bracket.
c) Connect the unit to the LNBF port.
d) Tune the frequency to 12090 MHz (1340
MHz down converted) and align the dish
until the signal is peaked.
e) Finally for the last step in tuning, turn the
LNBF clockwise to 7 o’clock id a 90 degree
LNBF. If the LNBF is straight (like a
microhomne) allign the arrows in the center
of the bracket.

a) Follow the instructions in the section
detailing the installation of the B2C2
Modem.
b) Connect a coaxial cable from the LNBF to
the Modem. (Refer to section 9 for cable
installation)

c) After the drivers and program is installed on
your computer, proceed with the following
steps:

d) This allows you to verify the signal. (40% –
50%)
e) Have one person view the meter, while
another moves the dish for optimum signal
strength.
f) Slightly move the LNBF to 6 o’clock if signal
improves.

g) Tighten all blots.
h) After all adjustments are made, use a
sharpie or permanent marker and draw 3
vertical lines from the mount to the pole as
future references.

Step 9 -Running the Coaxial Cable to the Computer
1. Determine your path and drill a 3/8” hole through any
walls that need penetrating.
2. Insert the cable through a feed-thru bushing on each side
of every wall you penetrate.
3. Apply silicone caulking on the outside wall.

4. Attach the coaxial cable to the baseboards of the rooms
you are running it in using staples or fasteners.
5. Attach the coaxial cable to the satellite dish mount using
tie wraps.

6. Insert a weather boot on the coax.
7. Connect the cable to the dish with an “F” connector. iSat
recommends a connector with silicone and a weather
seal.
8. Fasten the connector to the LNBF and slip the weather
boot.

Step 10 -Grounding The Installation
The satellite installation should be grounded to prevent any
damage to your computer. Please refer to NEC codes in
your area for specific rules and regulations.
If there are no specific codes, iSat recommends the
following:
1. Install an approved ground block before the point
where the cable penetrates the building.
2. Make sure you install weather boots and the correct
outdoor connectors.
3. Run a #6 solid copper insulated wire to a cold water
pipe or an electrical meter if it’s within 25 feet of your
ground block.
4. If not, install an 8 foot ground rod into the ground.
Connect the insulated wire.
5. There are ground blocks with lightning arrestors for
additional protection available.
